This movie was very underrated, it's really well made in my opinion
What they failed in making Bunta an abusive drunk, they absolutely nailed the car customization, CINEMATOGRAPHY and they managed to compress stage 1 and 2 into 1 hour 45 mins without sacrificing pacing
@@michaelho4014 its probably because of the live action's pace that Bunta's character representation went to sh*t, his character wasn't as dominant in terms of screentime even in the anime but the fact that we'd see him before and after takumi's races built his character up across the 6 stages
I think it would have been better if they had used a montage or a series of jump cuts that tied the additional races between stages 1,2 and 3 with Bunta appearing at specific times to give advice or to tell takumi that he changed the hachi roku's setup
