That is not a good way to do things brother. They are the ones who invented the so called rivalry to distabilise this country right from independence. KUMBUKENI luos and kikuyus united to flush out colonialism, to flush out the single party system, and to bring in multi partism. Today we enjoy the freedom to form or join any party thanks to the luo/kikuyu unity. Even after the introduction of multipartism luos and kikuyus united to bring Kibaki into power and during the power sharing govt of Kibaki and Raila to flush out corruption. The same west introduced corruption through some elements in govt. America haitutakii mema. All they want is a corrupt person i power or a despot. They love it so much when it is reported that Kisumu is burning and luos are rioting and there's corruption in Africa so that they can hijack our resources and control us. We need tough people like Raila who can stand up to the evil ones and tell them you are not controling us. The original kenyatta (mzee) was like raila. He became president thanks to the luo-kikuyu unity. The rest Baba got some reasonable votes.
Truth be said Raila scored an own goal that led to Ruto's win. Ruto's winning margin was very small and this was caused by Baba himself making some bad but costly jokes in public during the campaign trail. He said in a rally in Kisii that the Abagusii in the Highlands urinate and the urine flows down streams to lake Victoria through lowlands occupied by the Luos a bad joke after he had made a worse one in Nairobi specifically at Gekomba Market that some Kenyans were wearing clothes previously worn by dead people in reference to the second hand clothes business that employs millions of poor Kenyans!
I don't think the kisii joke was meant as an insult, it was probably just a figure of speech. Some things one needs to dig deeper to understand. Raila is a master of idioms and parables!
There are so many factors that led to raila failure. 1. Many people saw raila as a project. 2. Raila absconded his opposition role and kept quiet. He never said anything about kemsa scandal and other corruptions in uhurus government. 3. Azimio didn't accept correction/criticism. Anyone trying was seen as rutos mole. 4. Raila lost mt kenya because of uhuru. Majority of kikuyus had lost trust in uhuru. 5. Uhuru strengthened ruto without knowing by attacking and harassing Anyone associated with ruto especially mt kenya politicians. 6. BBI _ bbi lost its initial purpose and it came to be a succession plan by dynasties this made people mistrust raila. 7. Continuous attack on ruto by Azimio and government agencies. This earned ruto sympathy votes. 8. Raila campaign handlers failed raila. Mostly junet and joho. 9. Pride ( kiburi) . Most of Azimio are proud especially odm members 10. Attacking the church. 11. Political analysts who are allied to Azimio for example manyora , gave false hope to Azimio instead of giving the exact things on the ground so that they make corrections.

My argument is that the election was free and fair. The handshake and consequently Raila sharing the failure of the outgoing government destroyed him. In the scenario where there was no handshake, the government could have collapsed before 2020 and Raila could have worn 2022 election by 70% +.

I think it’s too simplistic to say or assert that Uhuru betrayed Raila. Kenyans amuse me with their simplemindedness. It’s unfortunate that Azimio was robbed of its victory but we should not start apportioning blame for the loss and it’s not fair to blame Uhuru for the loss. I tend to agree with Professor about the suggestion that the Deep State may have undermined the Azimio campaign or may have been compromised by UDA. That’s possible given the high stakes involved and also knowing that this is Kenya and we know that money talks. On the the job appointment for Uhuru by Ruto, this appears to be a big contradiction and a PR stunt by Ruto. Uhuru had already been assigned that job by the African Union and by nodding during the ceremony he was only being polite and respectful. I don’t expect him to accept any appointment from Ruto as such an action would be stooping too low for him. Raila was not conned by Uhuru but by some analysts and opinion pollsters who kept telling him how well he was doing via totally non objective analysis and opinion polls such that the information relayed could not help him strategise on counter attacks but sent him to comfort zones.

Uhuru was not running for president. Raila was. As far as the public is concerned, it was clear who Uhuru was supporting and he made it very clear that he was supporting Raila and against Ruto. That is enough support for Raila. Raila and his team should have done the rest and mobilized their bases to turn out and vote as well as protect their vote. In Nyanza itself, the turnout was low compared to Ruto's strongholds in the Rift. There is no way Uhuru could have played Raila since to do so, he would have shown this in public. Raila shouldn't expect Uhuru to hand him the presidency since he doesn't own it, and Uhuru even said he only has one vote and he can only try to convince others to vote his way.

This is a terrible mentality. Raila did enough to win. The games that were played cost him. The problem we have is corruption and impunity, if Raila won by cheating then there are people that would hate him as well. I wouldn't respect that either. It's about integrity, legitimacy and honoring the people that vote. You cannot have a sustained peaceful Democracy without that.

What this meant is that where Raila would have gotten 90% votes he ended up getting 70% of the votes. Raila also failed to have agents in Mt Kenya region. I still can't believe Ruto is my president and am still hurting but Ruto took everything serious. Raila contributed to his failure

Ruto was in the process of telling you without saying that Uhuru will be reporting directly to Ruto who can as well delegate this role to Rigathi so that the vengeful game is complete. If I were Uhuru, I would honorably decline that role, but again, it is scripted to make Ruto look like he cares for Uhuru. Meanwhile, all those announcements and executive orders like hiring the judges (which to me is like rewarding the goose chaser hot air, nonsense team) and allocating them 3 billion annually as if it is a new thing yet the funds are already allocated for the judiciary, reduced fertilizer prizes and returning the port to Mombasa are low hanging fruits that do not have any budgetary implications. The elephant in the room is the demand to have cost of living reduced which is not possible given that the oil prices which is a global phenomenon is here with us. I think it’s too simplistic to say or assert that Uhuru betrayed Raila. Kenyans amuse me with their simplemindedness. It’s unfortunate that Azimio was robbed of its victory but we should not start apportioning blame for the loss and it’s not fair to blame Uhuru for the loss. I tend to agree with Professor about the suggestion that the Deep State may have undermined the Azimio campaign or may have been compromised by UDA. That’s possible given the high stakes involved and also knowing that this is Kenya and we know that money talks. On the the job appointment for Uhuru by Ruto, this appears to be a big contradiction and a PR stunt by Ruto. That is enough support for Raila. Raila and his team should have done the rest and mobilized their bases to turn out and vote as well as protect their vote. In Nyanza itself, the turnout was low compared to Ruto's strongholds in the Rift. There is no way Uhuru could have played Raila since to do so, he would have shown this in public. Raila shouldn't expect Uhuru to hand him the presidency since he doesn't own it, and Uhuru even said he only has one vote and he can only try to convince others to vote his way.

This is a terrible mentality. Raila did enough to win. The games that were played cost him. The problem we have is corruption and impunity, if Raila won by cheating then there are people that would hate him as well. I wouldn't respect that either. It's about integrity, legitimacy and honoring the people that vote. You cannot have a sustained peaceful Democracy without that.
The last bullet Raila was saying all along is the one he used to shoot himself on the foot.

No no Tom,Raila in my view didn't do enough to win.
Raila ignored Amason Kingi because he had Hassan Joho,He ignored Alfred mutua and Kivutha Kibwana because he had Kalonzo Musyoka.
What this meant is that where Raila would have gotten 90% votes he ended up getting 70% of the votes.
Raila also failed to have agents in Mt Kenya region.
I still can't believe Ruto is my president and am still hurting but Ruto took everything serious.

Ruto was in the process of telling you without saying that Uhuru will be reporting directly to Ruto who can as well delegate this role to Rigathi so that the vengeful game is complete. Imagine Rigathi shouting orders to Uhuru to deliver a report on the mission he has been given through delegation from Ruto. If I were Uhuru, I would honorably decline that role, but again, it is scripted to make Ruto look like he cares for Uhuru. Meanwhile, all those announcements and executive orders like hiring the judges (which to me is like rewarding the goose chaser hot air, nonsense team) and allocating them 3 billion annually as if it is a new thing yet the funds are already allocated for the judiciary, reduced fertilizer prizes and returning the port to Mombasa are low hanging fruits that do not have any budgetary implications. The elephant in the room is the demand to have cost of living reduced which is not possible given that the oil prices which is a global phenomenon is here with us. Removing subsidy means that the cost of fuel will shoot through the roof with implication of hihger cost of living to a level never imagined such that the prize of oil will be about 200/- for kerosin and about 230/- for petrol while cooking gas would be between 3000/- and 4500/- for 6kg and 12kg cylinders each. It also means that electricity cost will be higher because our sources of power comes from generators too. When Rigathi says they have inherited empty coffers, he is simply saying, UDA and team will not deliver their promises as they said they would. This is the time to get the punch of reality on your face after singing "bwana asifiwe" while stealing as gods took them through their "victory". Read between the lines

Therefore with raila presidency or Ruto presidency there will be no change. Yes, both Kenyatta and Ruto outsmarted Raila. Kenya was at the brink of some inter-tribal war during last election. To save face, the two, Kenyatta and Ruto, were to pretentiously go their own separate ways, maintain enmity and distance, allow Raila into the fold for the duration of Kenyatta's second term just so to obliterate the old man during the next election, and it worked. Kenyatta's role was to play victim. Ruto's was to complain.
