    Oh wow. That large round with the blue bloom in the hallway is STUNNING! Look forward to the rest of the video. As I’m currently in my own, the dining room is my studio as I can close off the doors to the room to try to keep my long-haired cats out...or at least try to.

    That painting is glorious! I did one Saturday with pinks, plums, pthalo blue, & burgandy.
    It turned out ok, but I left too much space in between the 2 halves.

    So, earlier this evening, or yesterday evening at this point, I did a Dutch pour painting.....with Dioxazine Purple (Liquitex Basics), Deep Purple (Liquitex Basics), Deep Magenta (Artists Loft), Turquoise (Artists Loft), Gold Metallic (Craft paint from Michael's) and A purple/Magenta Color Shift Craft Paint (from Michael's), all mixed with Liquitex Pouring Medium because it doesn't create cells like Floetrol...and guess what! For my first time doing this, it came out pretty darn well. I'm going to use the same colors for today's pour(s) to see what different results I can achieve with the pours, same everything else. Also, it took me about 2 hours to prep my space (living room) to be able paint in the first place, and I have a LOT of extra paint all mixed up and ready to go.

    I have been noticing that a LOT of people doing "Silicone Free" pours are using Floetrol as if it is somehow different. It really IS NOT! It is a LATEX paint additive. LATEX and Acrylic paint are not the same thing. Except both being waterbased paint, they are completely different types of paint. Floetrol has similar issues as silicone in that it is not compatible with acrylic (hence the cells) and can get trapped in the acrylic layers and never dry. Over time this can lead to layer separation and those lovely cells disappear and the paint can peel. IF you are selling your pours and want your products to be professional, use isopropyl alcohol and learn more about how the colors work together. this is not just my personal opinion by the way. The manufactures of artist-grade acrylic paints (i.e. Golden and Liquitex) do not recommend Floetrol and like products for lasting results. Your work is really lovely, you seem to put quite a bit into pouring, it would be a shame if it is only temporary.

      Hi Lara, thanks for the comment. I don't use silicone because I simply don't like it. I like using floetrol as it gives me the results I am looking for. I have never had issues with any of my art peeling or cracking...
      I appreciate the input and recommendations though

    This is just gorgeous. I am setting up my art space to get started and watching many videos. I have noticed that your art always catches my eye. Keep up the good work!
    Btw, is there a reason you didn’t mention the name of the woman using that spatula? Was it Priscilla?

    I really need to get some floetrol, PVA makes too many inferior cells.

      I dont ever use glue - it doesn't work as well as floetrol

      I'm new to all of this but my main problem is that I'm on welfare because a charming drug addict hit me in the face with an axe 17 years ago. Long story short, after two life threatening ops to my neck it took five years to learn how to write a short sentence and I'll never walk properly again and severe myelopathy - severe nerve pain. I have to take baby steps when buying all the things I need and I'm badly addicted to this pouring nonsense now LOL

    Where do you buy your Flotrol?

    • @KanellaCiracoArt
      @KanellaCiracoArt  5 років тому

      In Ontario, the only place you can buy floetrol is from Dulux Paint Stores. Otherwise, you can buy it on Amazon

      Vickie Thaxter ohhhhh yes, I make them myself actually. I buy the tags from the dollar store and then I use address labels and create my tags on my computer and print them on the labels.
