    It's a good thing nobody told Lead belly it's not possible to play a 12 string guitar with that much precision and intricacy.

      @@joshuakeelsmusic LZ titled theirs "Gallows Pole." Being an old Scottish tune. Robert Plant being Welch, he probably heard some version of it growing up. Folk music is like that. For example, no one can definitively say who wrote "The House of the Rising Sun" (aka Rising Sun Blues). Some of the lyrics matches that of a Cambodian lyricist, and other parts, of the song, from various other sources. No one really knows.

    • @generalsandmajors1504
      @generalsandmajors1504 4 роки тому +15

      Gullus is the original middle english term meaning gullet or "throat". Gallis is a southern black term. Gallis is also a term for "player" or a man who uses women just for sex. In this case it means the former. Galis with one "L' means channel or ditch. Also the word Gallus means "Fit for the gallows pole".

      "Gallis is also a term for 'player'" Lord.
      He's singing "gallows" with his Louisiana/Texas accent. Black singers about this old routinely found their stuff labeled phonetically out of a traditional patronization of black accents. This was still going on when Glen Alyn wrote his book about Mance Lipscomb (!), let alone back when the Lomaxes thought black accents were cute.
