Val, after further consideration I must say that IMO, Angelina incorporated the jazz, R&B and pop genres into this amazing song. She is single handedly reintroducing jazz to the masses and making it cool again. Angelina is reinventing jazz by giving it her 2021 interpretation of it. Several reactors have said they greatly enjoy hearing Angelina bring jazz back into vogue. She is the only young artist with the self confidence, ability and talent to take this avenue. Her vocal talent is perfectly suited to sing in this new jazz, R&B and pop genre she created. I still have to keep reminding myself how young she is. The cover photo is breath taking. It reveals a stunningly beautiful, statuesque and regal young lady whom exudes class and dignity. There is no other like her. Angel is in her own lane. We have been blessed to have her in our lives. She is a breath a fresh air. She is the most unique and versatile young music artist there is.

I agree with your assessment that Angelina needs space to fully facilitate her creativity. Creativity is fickle. It can be stifled easily. I loved your comments about how she needs time & space for her creativity. Well, she got that message years ago, since she has said she doesn't do much on social media because it affects her creativity. Talk about a "wise child!" She can hire someone to handle her social media.
This is the positive message that we associate with Angelina, and it’s particularly welcome and relevant right now. But we also get from Angelina the willingness and the ability to step out of her already-wide comfort zone to give us something we don’t expect. It’s so refreshing to see her vocal confidence with this upbeat, toe-tapping, jazzy vibe. We see that confidence selling the message behind these lyrics, just as we saw her sell it with blues in I Put a Spell on You or with soft jazz in Bohemian Rhapsody. Her love for forgotten styles and genres shines in songs like this. She knows her voice so well.

Some reviews on line have also noted that by saying, “With its upbeat stomp, jazz-y piano, and vocal fireworks” “the Los Angeles-based 15-year-old singer and songwriter infuses her patented jazzy pop with a personal perspective and fresh fire.” “15 yo keeping Jazz alive for the younger generation” So call it whatever you wish. The differences between jazz and R&B are hard to distinguish at times. Here's one definition of R&B "Rhythm and blues, on the other hand, is a style of American music which emerged from the merging of jazz and blues." I'm not sure Angie will achieve her dream of superstar status solely as a jazz singer. Maybe yes, maybe no. But as a pop singer with the heavy jazz vocal stylings and talent she has (ala Amy Winehouse), it's a sure thing IMO.
We have to support Angelina strongly in her goal to be a worldwide Superstar. That means purchasing her music and streaming it on Spotify, Amazon music, and iTunes. Also, contacting your local radio stations and requesting her song. Finally, going to her page and becoming a patreon. I don't see it working. I don't know why Republic hasn't delayed her launch until three quarters of the globe is no longer locked down. They can't market her properly because part of that is for her to show up on TV chat shows and news and light entertainment programming worldwide to catch the attention of those who don't pore over UA-cam, which is the vast majority. Justin Bieber was apparently found on UA-cam but as soon as he was snapped up, you couldn't turn on the TV or open a magazine without seeing an interview or performance. Angelina can't do that right now and, relatively speaking, nobody has heard of her. Mention her on any high street here in London, a major city, and you'll be met with blank faces.
@@way2deep100 I can't say I disagree and it's frustrating. I know that national TV programs are the way to go along with radio play time. But she is in Los Angeles, and there is no national lockdown in the United States. Right now the states are the biggest market she has to capture. Airlines are flying, and talk/ music shows are taking place with social distancing. Look at the voice and American idol. Distancing with no masks necessary. she should be doing the talk shows and there's no reason why not. However, and this is a big if, if enough people buy her CDs and stream her on Spotify, her rankings will increase. Just visibility like that can help a bit.
@@way2deep100Maybe Angelina's mother does not want her doing interviews due to covic. That certainly did not stop Olivia Rodrigo when she had the hit song DRIVERS LICENCE. She was on talk shows, news channels , Intertainment magazines, the works. She is under contract with UMG Universal Music Group. which is affiliated with Republic Records ( Probably the head of RR). Strange she got so much promotion and Angelina's MILLION MILES got nothing all in the same time frame.. It is almost like UMG told RR than our girl goes first, Angelina will have to sit on the shelf. Norah Jones signed with Blue Note, a lesser known jazz and Blues recording company in 2002, they gave her a terrific promo for her new Debut album called "Come away with Me" it sold over 26 million copies, and she won several awards. Bigger is nor always better.Right now it would not kill them to put a little more effort into getting her airtime on major music radio stations. They have the connections, whereas John Q public must go about finding phone numbers, getting put on hold, and never getting yes or no answers from whoever they spoke to. Maybe they plan to hold off her album til July, or August, and then hit the start button. Angelina deserves better.
Stargate, the production group she's working with, gets her. They provided a couple writer/arrangers, she brought a melody and ideas. You get the feeling they are inspiring and supporting her spirit. What 15 year old couldn't thrive.

Yes, Angie wrote it with writers/producers Stargate (same 4 time Grammy winning duo as "Million Miles") As for production, Angie has been involved, and often "the boss," when it comes to production since age 8. There are quite a few videos of her directing her "wishes" to the musicians and producers. Just for the record, Angie's maternal grandma (her mentor and love of her life) is Iranian, her maternal grandpa was Japanese who passed in Nov. 2019, her mother and her uncle Michael were both raised in Japan before moving to Norway, and her father is Swedish.
@Reg Dewitt You may not be sure but I'm pretty sure Angelina's maternal grandfather was Japanese. It has been mentioned by family members in interviews.
@@tomrogers1305 Angie's Swedish father's name is Gerry Christian Slattman. In Norway in 1965, women could again keep their name (as before/tradition) and children could use either parents' last name. Well we know Angelina doesn't use her father's last name Slattman, but uses her mother's last name Astar. It's certainly not Japanese, (Sara's father) but it is an old Persian name (grandmother's native country) and could have been chosen for a variety of reasons.

Yet another quality reaction to Angelina. The new style is developing, sort of a fusion between the classic and the modern. This is certainly a song to dance to - we don't really get to see Angelina dance, but I'm sure that her sister Juliette will be bopping to it! The theme is very upbeat, the lyrics are a call for us all to escape from the bitterness and find the positive in the moment. I live in hope that the album that we are all holding out for will deliver a range of songs that will, in some way, accommodate a wide range of old and new fans, but still being true to herself. As you rightly say she has to have a total belief in what she sings, and the way she sings it for the true artform to express itself. You have already reacted to so many of Angelina's performances, I will have to look back at what you have covered, to find some hidden gems for you to discover.
Great reaction; Angelina ,well that was our classic Angelina giving us a new present like nothing else she has done, she is like a new sunrise each day with each of her performances. A number one hit song for sure, and she wrote this her self , the words and phrasing to me are very much in her character, as like the words she wrote in her first song "what Is life ", at 11 years old , before she had collaborations with other production personalities, and which we know is all her heart and soul being exposed. I heard that the lyrics for this came straight from her journals. She has many of these journals from when she was very young. So many more wonderful things are going to come from these journals. One of these was the book she wrote and published when she was 9, about the encounter with the homeless girl when she was 6. The title is in Norwegian and I can't remember that but the English translation is "Between two Hearts". It is a picture book that her grandmother illustrated, and explains how this encounter affected her life. Including how she gave the child her favorite shoes off her own feet, and lead her on to sing barefoot.

Yes Angelina did write the music I was told it was pulled from her diary but I cannot confirm that.The track was produced by the Norwegian duo Stargate. Since she has released two additional music videos for the song: One showing her singing this song “live” in a recording studio, the other an “official music video” Featuring her younger sister.

I find it fascinating because in some cases it provides insight into the makeup of an artist such as Angelina Jordan. As you suggest, her family has been essential to her development.

Several reactors have said they greatly enjoy hearing Angelina bring jazz back into vogue. She is the only young artist with the self confidence, ability and talent to take this avenue. Her vocal talent is perfectly suited to sing in this new jazz, R&B and pop genre she created. I still have to keep reminding myself how young she is.

I loved your comments about how she needs time & space for her creativity. Well, she got that message years ago, since she has said she doesn't do much on social media because it affects her creativity. Talk about a "wise child!" But we also get from Angelina the willingness and the ability to step out of her already-wide comfort zone to give us something we don’t expect. I'm not sure Angie will achieve her dream of superstar status solely as a jazz singer. Maybe yes, maybe no. But as a pop singer with the heavy jazz vocal stylings and talent she has (ala Amy Winehouse), it's a sure thing IMO.

absolutely I work outdoors so have the radio on all day but was amazed that I never heard a million miles once on the radio!
I don't see it working. I don't know why Republic hasn't delayed her launch until three quarters of the globe is no longer locked down. They can't market her properly because part of that is for her to show up on TV chat shows and news and light entertainment programming worldwide to catch the attention of those who don't pore over UA-cam, which is the vast majority. Justin Bieber was apparently found on UA-cam but as soon as he was snapped up, you couldn't turn on the TV or open a magazine without seeing an interview or performance. Angelina can't do that right now and, relatively speaking, nobody has heard of her. Mention her on any high street here in London, a major city, and you'll be met with blank faces.

But she is in Los Angeles, and there is no national lockdown in the United States. Right now the states are the biggest market she has to capture. Airlines are flying, and talk/ music shows are taking place with social distancing. Look at the voice and American idol. Distancing with no masks necessary. she should be doing the talk shows and there's no reason why not.
However, and this is a big if, if enough people buy her CDs and stream her on Spotify, her rankings will increase. Just visibility like that can help a bit.

She was on talk shows, news channels , Intertainment magazines, the works. She is under contract with UMG Universal Music Group. which is affiliated with Republic Records ( Probably the head of RR). Strange she got so much promotion and Angelina's MILLION MILES got nothing all in the same time frame.. It is almost like UMG told RR than our girl goes first, Angelina will have to sit on the shelf. Norah Jones signed with Blue Note, a lesser known jazz and Blues recording company in 2002, they gave her a terrific promo for her new Debut album called "Come away with Me" it sold over 26 million copies, and she won several awards. Bigger is nor always better.Right now it would not kill them to put a little more effort into getting her airtime on major music radio stations. They have the connections, whereas John Q public must go about finding phone numbers, getting put on hold, and never getting yes or no answers from whoever they spoke to. Maybe they plan to hold off her album til July, or August, and then hit the start button. Angelina deserves better.
Stargate, the production group she's working with, gets her. They provided a couple writer/arrangers, she brought a melody and ideas. You get the feeling they are inspiring and supporting her spirit. What 15 year old couldn't thrive.

Yes, Angie wrote it with writers/producers Stargate (same 4 time Grammy winning duo as "Million Miles") As for production, Angie has been involved, and often "the boss," when it comes to production since age 8. There are quite a few videos of her directing her "wishes" to the musicians and producers. Just for the record, Angie's maternal grandma (her mentor and love of her life) is Iranian, her maternal grandpa was Japanese who passed in Nov. 2019, her mother and her uncle Michael were both raised in Japan before moving to Norway, and her father is Swedish.

Well we know Angelina doesn't use her father's last name Slattman, but uses her mother's last name Astar. It's certainly not Japanese, (Sara's father) but it is an old Persian name (grandmother's native country) and could have been chosen for a variety of reasons.

I think they don’t understand that Angelina was writing in her diary as young as 6 , about what her “heart felt” , in reaction to her life’s experiences . Yet another quality reaction to Angelina. The new style is developing, sort of a fusion between the classic and the modern. This is certainly a song to dance to - we don't really get to see Angelina dance, but I'm sure that her sister Juliette will be bopping to it! The theme is very upbeat, the lyrics are a call for us all to escape from the bitterness and find the positive in the moment. I live in hope that the album that we are all holding out for will deliver a range of songs that will, in some way, accommodate a wide range of old and new fans, but still being true to herself. As you rightly say she has to have a total belief in what she sings, and the way she sings it for the true artform to express itself. Great reaction; Angelina ,well that was our classic Angelina giving us a new present like nothing else she has done, she is like a new sunrise each day with each of her performances. A number one hit song for sure, and she wrote this her self , the words and phrasing to me are very much in her character, as like the words she wrote in her first song "what Is life ", at 11 years old , before she had collaborations with other production personalities, and which we know is all her heart and soul being exposed. I heard that the lyrics for this came straight from her journals. She has many of these journals from when she was very young. So many more wonderful things are going to come from these journals. One of these was the book she wrote and published when she was 9, about the encounter with the homeless girl when she was 6. The title is in Norwegian and I can't remember that but the English translation is "Between two Hearts". It is a picture book that her grandmother illustrated, and explains how this encounter affected her life. Including how she gave the child her favorite shoes off her own feet, and lead her on to sing barefoot.

When Laura won Romania's Got Talent in 2016.She donated half of her prize money (about 120,000 euros) to help the poor and underprivileged in that country. She made it to the finals & she didn't sign with ATG just like Angelina Jordan & she got 6th place also. But now Laura & Angie are on their way to being bigger than AGT, In real life, Laura is a kind, loving respectful & giving Christian girl. She did great in Eurovision Romania in 2019 also.

Yes Angelina did write the music I was told it was pulled from her diary but I cannot confirm that.The track was produced by the Norwegian duo Stargate. Since she has released two additional music videos for the song: One showing her singing this song “live” in a recording studio, the other an “official music video” Featuring her younger sister.

I find it fascinating because in some cases it provides insight into the makeup of an artist such as Angelina Jordan. As you suggest, her family has been essential to her development.
