    Hey guys!!
    I just wanted to thank you guys. This channel was the beginning of my running journey from scratch. I was heading toward a very unhealthy lifestyle (couldn’t walk up the stairs without being short of breath, and was putting on unhealthy weight). I stumbled upon one of your guys videos at this stage of my life. I had always been really intimidated but running and thought it was something only “fit people” could do. They way you guys talked about how everyone is a runner if they run, no matter the speed really inspired me. Two years ago, I laced up my shoes and went on my first run. It was so so hard, but I kept at it thanks to you guys. I kept at it and I actually ran my first half marathon last October!!!! I can't describe the change running has made to my life! This channel started it all for me.❤ Thank you so so much!!

      Same here! I have documented a few of these experiences on my channel because running made such a huge difference in my life. Depression gone, beer consumption way down, healthier diet! What a victory! Congrats to you!

    You are my go-to running channel. I’m 71 with two hip replacements trying to get back to a marathon. It’s been hard but your videos help.

    Thank you for another great video. I’m 50 and have been running for a year and a half partly due to your guidance and inspiration and have just ran a PB in a parkrun of 21.34. Keep up the great work.

    I've done the finger and thumb thing for a while. It was something an ultrarunner talked about doing, pretending they were holding a chip they didn't want to break. I was having shoulder and neck pain, and this technique helped me relax. I also notice myself fidgeting with my fingers for some reason and it throws my form off. So it helps with that as well.

    I managed a negative split in my 10k today with the first 5k in 25:42 and the second in 24:21 despite it feeling slower for the second half. Two weeks until the Brighton marathon and looking forward to just enjoying it running with my son.

    That thumb and forefinger trick is GREAT! It also prevents the terrible hand cramps that can happen on long runs from running with your hands gripped tightly in a fist for too long!
    I also enjoy running with thumbs up. This technique helps keep the arm swing in the right place and is a positive motivator! Every time I see my thumbs up, I'm cheering myself along!

      Right?! Lol I literally poured 3/4 of a cup of Gatorade down my front during a race yesterday 😅😅😅 next race is in a week and a half, I’m gonna try this out for sure

    You can also pinch the cup from the top. Works fine as well. I pinch my index finger with my thumb, helps. I actually learned the finger thing as a choir singer. It keeps the needed tension.

    I run with a gatorade sip top bottle. When you get to the aid station you unscrew the lid. Then you can dump water straight in, often grab a second, then off you go. Means you can even out the water intake rather than dump it in in one go and get that sloshing. I also run my long runs with it, so I'm used to carrying it. It gets hot here in Aus and I'm 6'4 so I need lots of water

    I love your channel and your philosophy of running as an all encompassing lifestyle, a process. I've been running for about 20 years, got serious about 8 years ago, starting doing half-marathon races but doing my first marathon in June. The long run process and tips such as these are brain food, thank you!

    I use most of your tips to help my running and motivation. For my interval motivation I use the hydro pole split. I use them for distance guides. Two hydro poles easy. between the next two faster. Makes the run go by pretty quick. I live out in the country so its the simple things I got to enjoy. Oh the loneness. Thanks guy's

      Hmmm, my advice, as always in these situations is to go see a specialist 😊 best money you can spend

    • @iterato1
      @iterato1 3 місяці тому

      💯 agree on seeing a specialist. There are several potential root causes and treatments. Of course there are also lots of videos you can try to use to self diagnose and treat, but a specialist PT is more likely to diagnose correctly.

    Is dry needling effective? I haven’t been able to find any papers that demonstrate it’s effectiveness on recovery or injury rehab. Most have been suggesting it’s pseudoscientific.

    I don't want to be rude but you look tired in your videos, like you're training too hard and not recovering. Could be that you're just getting older. Anyway your wife looks good, so maybe try mimic what she does. 🙂
