18 MT owner here. I plan to FIX the suspension, breaks, exhaust, tuning, seat, rearsets, bars, the whole kit-n-kaboodle. No complaining. It wasn't really that expensive to begin with, so it won't be that expensive when done. The complaining comes from those who want custom perfection from factory with top-shelf components at low cost. MPG ave/inst are very slow to update. Kawasaki and Suzuki have similar features and are much faster and more accurate.
Fuel level doesn't change until half a tankful has drained, and suddenly the level drops fast.
TC is okay, the least intrusive setting allows wheelies without intervening and works like expected otherwise. Level 2 cuts throttle like someone throwing a wrench into turning gears.

MT09s scared the shit out of me, thanks to all the hooligan and fail vids. But I did the math rider modes, traction control, ABS standard at an reasonable price! Been learning about my 2018 barely used MT09 for the past few weeks, in "B" mode. "B" does everything I need and more. Love it more and more every day. Confidence inspiring and easy to ride. I'm beating the claimed 44mpg. According to my dash I'm getting 51/52mpg riding within the speed limit and with the flow of traffic. Great brakes. At 55-65 the wind reminds you, you are going too fast. 😁
Almost too easy to steer. Planning on a steering damper to firm things up. Been riding it like a scooter. A scooter that can instantly leave any dusche bag car drivers behind. Don't get stupid and this will make a great 2nd bike.

Hey man, I'm in the same boat now, coming from riding a GS500 for almost 2 years. I'm looking at an sv650 2018, or MT09 2016 (because of TC introduction). Never ridden an 09, but what everyone is saying about them online makes me feel scared of them, makes me think I will wheelie every time I twist the throttle a bit, or lose the back wheel because of the immense torque. On top of that, only until recently I started pushing the little gs500 above 5k rpm all the way to redline, and done about 5k miles since I got her in Feb 2019. I don't know what to feel anymore, heart stays 09 (lovely looks and the sound.. oh the sound), but mind says SV650. I like to believe I'm a mature rider, not into hooning really. Any thoughts on that ? Should I really be scared of the power the 09 makes and get the 650 or it just comes down to the type of rider you are ? Thanks !!

@@RyaNewGame I own a 2019 MT-09 and no need to worry about having too much power ending in unwanted wheelies or loss of control, etc. Yes you can bring that front tire up when you want to but you have to want to. I can twist that throttle pretty hard and the bike just rips. With the different TC modes no need to worry about unwanted wheelies. When you do want to ride that back tire, change the TC setting and twist ya wrist. The bike do have alot of torque and the front tire do get fairly light when pinning it. I came from a CBR600 and Suzuki 650SFV. I had the same concerns as you but now happy I went with the MT-09.

Can i ask you a few questions about the MT-07? There's something i dont really get. The MT-07 has a sort of "restricted" version that you can ride with an A2 license, but the details ive seen with many dealers say that its the same cc bike. Is that just a modifier of some sort that can later be replaced or taken out of the system so that the bike is ~55 kW or is that "permanent"? I cant find any site that talks about this not even on their official site, Im either blind or there really isnt anything. Do you know about this stuff? I fell in love with that bike at first sight and i really dont want anything else at this point and for some godforsaken reason i really dislike the MT-03...

ABS, yes to de activate them pull the fuse but to improve them, pull the lines and replace with lines direct from the caliper to the lever reservoir - non ABS plumbing. The ABS plumbing will have the lines going to the servo which adds more to the hydraulic system. May as well throw in some braided brake lines whilst you're at it anyway. What the ZX10R ABS track guys do - bypass the system completely.
Be interesting to ride the triple. Wondering if the snatchiness in the throttle in A mode is also due to the BS noise pollution crap they put on bikes nowdays. Disable the Exhaust Servo and the air intake valve would help. New pipe and a flash also more so. Same as you pretty much have to do with any performance bike now days and it make a big difference with the throttle on off response. Engine needs decent air flow in and out.
F - the "Safety" Bureaucrats with no idea do more harm then good.

@@jaykobowens2078 please clarify as my opinion of biginner riders are that they do tend to squice the brake to hard in a emergency situation. Which in most cases leads to a sad day for the rider..

The data on the digital display has a slow refresh rate, ie. the MPG and fuel gauge information takes a sample from the sensors before it shows a change in numbers, way too slowly. I've owned Suzuki and Kawasaki bikes with the same features and neither were so sluggish in displaying up to the second data. A small complaint, but it's notable.
Suspension? Fix it. Loads of aftermarket available.
ABS? It's cheap. It's just cheap function and there to satisfy crybabies and the government.
Wheelie-prone? Yeah because the rear swingarm angle is "pro-squat", ie. very close to parallel with the ground, which makes the front sprocket a lever to pry the front of the bike into the air. Just dial in some additional shock length with a REAL AFTERMARKET SHOCK.
Jerky throttle, speed limiter, on/off abruptness? ECU flashes solve all those problems and give you the 'problem' of more power.

people die on mopeds. The bike with traction control 2 and in B mode is super tame. Went from my FZ07 to the FZ09. It's definitely got torque but it's being overhyped in your head. I recommend it.

From owning a 2014 mto7 those wheels and colour they are an arse to clean and Yamaha being tighter than Beyoncé’s behind in spandex with the layers of paint that they haven’t put on be careful when you do clean them, look at them or think about them they chip easier than potatoes at McCain my next bike will be the Ktm 790 don’t know when or how but it will be but do love the mt’s.

But try getting any newer GoPro 7, 6 or 5 or at least old Hero 4.
And try to put it in SuperView mode, woah, that will look amazing and really wide and will not make it feel like it's moving a lot due to wide angle.
So do it if you can. Cheers
