- In the 1980s, John Rich and Henry Winkler formed a production company called Henry Winkler/John Rich Productions and together they produced MacGyver for Paramount Television.
Winkler is best known for his role as Arthur Fonzarelli in the 1970s American sitcom Happy Days. "The Fonz", or "Fonzie", a leather-clad greaser, hot rodder and auto mechanic, started out as a minor character at the show's beginning, but had achieved top billing by the time the show ended.
John Rich was an American film and television director. He directed Colonel Humphrey Flack, I Married Joan, Gunsmoke, Bonanza, Hogan's Heroes, Where's Raymond?, Mister Ed, The Dick Van Dyke Show, All in the Family, The Jeffersons, Maude, Good Times, Barney Miller, Newhart, Benson, The Brady Bunch, and Gilligan's Island.
His feature film credits include Wives and Lovers, Boeing Boeing, Roustabout and Easy Come, Easy Go (the latter two starring Elvis Presley).
Came here from
Henry’s wonderful autobiography. These men couldn’t stand each other, and it shows.
I’m in the middle of Henry’s book and what an inspiration he has been. I’m enjoying it immensely. I admire him greatly for what he’s been through and how far he has come!
I see I’m not the only one who immediately looked for this interview after reading page 118 of Henry’s book 😂

😆 🤣
Macgyver is such a classic, it should be mandatory to play on at least one TV station
I came to this video while listening to Henry's book, _Being Henry_. It's a fantastic listen (audiobook version is read by Henry himself). Seeing him wear his gift shirt really signifies how important family should be on the priority list of life.
I'm reading his book now, and that's why I'm here. Lol.
@@qdog568 I finished it 3-4 days ago. I'm typically a sci-fi reader but for some unexplained reason I gave the book a listen (my first autobiography) and I really got into it. I listened to the audiobook version and thoroughly enjoyed it! I had no idea that he was behind producing MacGyver and several other shows over the years and now I want to watch the Barry series too. I do remember watching Happy Days some as a kid, but mostly when it was re-runs and not as much as when it was on the original run. The parts added by his wife Stacey really enhanced the book. Right now I am back to another sci-fi book and will likely try another autobiography next simply because of how much I enjoyed this book.
Me too
Same lol
I’m also reading his book and found this!
I’m reading Being Henry By Henry Winkler now. He mentions this interview. If you found this interview, you may enjoy his book which is an autobiography. It’s in hardcover now. A great read. 👍🏼
Same. Really enjoying his book. ❤❤
Reading Being Henry and this interview was pointed out. Great autobiography book by Henry Winkler. ❤❤❤😊
Aww Henry got his kids names on his jumper
My right ear enjoyed that interview 👂
Phew, I thought something was wrong with my 🎧
That ding bat did not have to say that about Henrys sweater! Which I love!
Always loved "MacGyver" growing up, but come on, Henry Winkler! "MacGyver" never treated its audience like it was stupid??!! LOL! So I guess the audience is supposed to believe it when Macgyver takes two minutes to diffuse a bomb which will go off in ten seconds.
I always wondered who thought up what MacGyver was doing. After reading that part of Henry’s autobiography, I know who came up with the idea of the character.
...think he was being sarcastic when he told her she was a wonderful interviewer?
No he was sincere. She asked good questions
Why does John talk like Obama?
Annoying interviewer..
