    I think a pretty cool byproduct of Qi2 would be the creation of more universally compatible accessories.

    Thank you for the video: really helpful. I ended up picking this up. Any idea what it means when the blue light on the side blinks instead of being solid? I can't find an answer anywhere.

    I have the new Anker MagGo 3 in 1 charging station and I noticed that the LED light only comes on for 1 second and then turns off when plugging in the charger or placing an item on the charger. It looks like this happened to you as well. I wonder what the purpose of the LED is other than flash if it doesn't have sufficient power.

    What is the input voltage of this device? If it runs 100v to 230v, then it is travel friendly.

      It's USB C input and you can use any charger you want.

    Just ordered one of these, I don't use AirPods…. I wish they had a non AirPod version, but this is the fastest "stand/ Travel" set up. ESR has a pretty compact set up but it is slow when it is charging.

    Qi 2's main feature is not the magnets but the faster 15W speed. The magnets/magsafe is just a convenient way to attach the charger to the phone. You could still make a Qi 1 charger at 5W but build magnets into the charger...
    OnePlus were the first to have a super fast Qi charger.
    I think people get too carried away by the magnets, they are of secondary importance

      Magsafe may not be the main feature for everyone, especially Android users, but Magsafe ensures proper placement all the time. Which leads to efficient charging.
      Are you not wondering why most big case manufacturers are now even putting Magsafe on Android cases? It’s not hard to figure out. Magsafe works.
      And we as consumers, should be happy with this new standard. Doesn’t matter if you are an Apple user or Android user.

    • @MrOrtmeier
      @MrOrtmeier 4 місяці тому

      @@zjhongolez Sure that's fine but people will think it's an apple standard, which it isn't. Only the magnets are their idea. And if that boosts apple sales, that's a bad thing.

    • @phandroid
      @phandroid  4 місяці тому +2

      The magnets are part of the standard. To be certified at Qi2, phones and chargers must have the magnets for alignment.

    • @zjhongolez
      @zjhongolez 4 місяці тому +3

      @@MrOrtmeier it was an Apple Standard, which they are now opening up to Qi2, which in the end will benefit all consumers. Isn’t that a good thing? Why would there be always Android vs iOS? If it benefits everyone, the better.
      This will also usher in more accessories for Android, which the accessory companies would benefit as well. MagSafe accessories are some of the best in the market. Wallets, charging stands, car mounts, external SSDs, etc. I would think that everybody would be happy with that.

      @@zjhongolez Wireless charging existed long before Apple used it, and with better performance. They don't deserve any credit for this at all, in any way.
      But yes, the accessories will be good, but I bet they'll all be priced like Apple, so it's bitter sweet

    The reason why manufacturers aren't in a hurry to update to chi2 , is because my s22 ultra and my LG V60 have been charging at 15 watts wirelessly since I bought them new .

    • @phandroid
      @phandroid  4 місяці тому +2

      Yes, non-compliant chargers to the Qi standard have been offering faster charging for a while, but the official charging speed for the first standard was half of what it is now. There's not requirement that limits Qi to 15w. That is simply the slowest charging speed required by the standard.

    Qi organisation dragging their ass for a faster standard kind of cause most Manufacturers to use their own standards for faster charging. It kind of mean there may not be as much incentive for newer Android phone to adapt it.
