An awesome compilation of video shots - well done. It's nice to see a realistic view of Red Deer including some of the warts and bumps. Looking forward to more videos especially the many dining spots from oldies but goodies (George's, Earl's, Rusty Pelican, City Roast, Little Red Barn) to those that have changed hands (Cafe Vero, ABC Country, Social 13) to the quite new (Pampa's, Hung Uke)
Great list of dine options Jock! We won’t be focusing much in the future on foodie stuff though - there’s a gal that already highlights Red Deer and areas food scene - @reddeereats on Instagram really does a great job there.
Sylvan lake isn’t in Red Deer it’s a completely separate town 30 minutes away. It’s like saying the worst part of Canmore is that Banff Main Street is busy…
Sylvan Lake is a separate town, yes (it’s really only 10 minutes away from Red Deer) - the con being discussed here is that Sylvan Lake is a typical destination for Red Deer locals to frequent, however does become overpopulated in the summer. The solution is that there are numerous other lakes to visit that are nearby as well, and that we do have the river through town that offers plenty of recreational opportunities without the crowds. Thanks for watching!
I loved living in Red Deer if I’m being honest.. was there almost 10 years, met some awesome people and actually miss it there. Never had an issue with crime other than having to defend myself at Lotus Nightclub one summer evening, but that’s a story for another day 😂 great place to live and good jobs available.
Can you make a video on the new neighborhoods vs old neighborhoods in the town, I am a lot of time away from buying a home but was thinking about buying one in the future, Red Deer seems the perfect place !!
Are you asking me what's up now or what's up when you film this? I don't remember what I was doing eight months ago but right now I'm watching someone on UA-cam ask me what's up.
I don't care what you say Red Deer SUCKS ! I know as I have reluctantly lived there for 35 years. Snows non stop all winter and rains most of the summer. Chilly evenings due to our 3000 ft elevation. High taxes, Poor roads, Poor health care, Only 1 hospital and is under staffed. Good Dr's go to Calgary or Edm. 1 1/2 hours to an international airport ( how inconvenient is that!). Cars overpriced by local dealers. Very poor local entertainment. House prices have fallen and still going down while Calg and Edm has gone up substantially. New housing development is way over priced due to a monopoly by a land developer. Side roads not plowed in winter time. A city council only looking out for themselves, and brings stupid venues to Red Deer that costs us taxpayers more money. Are you getting the picture here ?
Thanks for your insight Clint. However I’m not convinced we live in the same place, because it doesn’t snow all winter, and it definitely doesn’t rain all summer. Red Deer has one of the highest days of sun in all of Western Canada (324 on average, behind Calgary at 333 and ahead of Edmonton at 321). The roads here are far superior to places like Montreal, but I will agree with you on the hospital situation. 1.5 hours to drive to a major airport isn’t really all that far, but I guess it’s all relative. I’m not sure what to tell you, except that maybe the city you live in is only as good as you make it? It’s easy to get caught up in the BS drama that gets clicks on the internet, but if you really look for the bright spots in town, they’re here for you to find. Wishing you the best of luck hunting down happiness.
@@Yadejameenpaz263 we have excellent health care in Canada - sure there are problems with the system but at the end of the day we have great medical professionals in town and excellent facilities available. The main hospital in Red Deer is often at capacity and is in need of more funding from the government, but it still provides the community with high quality health care services.
I think red deer hates you and it’s time for you to leave. It’s a good place to live and most of what you said is just not true. Also, what’s wrong with low housing costs in a country where most is just unaffordable anymore for new homebuyers?
Hahaha as a Red Deerian myself for the past 31 years this was great!!!! Man this poor city is going down hill my friends. I think we've got monkeys in city hall, and don't get me started on the joke that is our city transit
@@spawn11 I will be honest we have some of the longest hospital wait times in Canada, it's really really bad, family doctors are few and far between. Jobs on the other hand there is lots to offer. Lots of grocery stores too😁
@@victoriamarx3267 waiting times seems like on shit side everywhere. From Brampton our population is almost 600k and only one hospital. In emergency dept 5 hours waiting. Glad there are positives too. How u see in future Red Deer? Population will be 25% more in 10 years..

No worries man - nobody is trying to trick you into moving here. Wouldn’t want you enjoying all our green space, beautiful parks, excellent public facilities, low taxes and low cost housing. It’s not for everyone 😂
Pigeon Lake is full of green algae and the fish die there on a regular basis and wash up on the beach stinking like dead whales so let me see again what you're saying about Pigeon Lake?
You can choose to complain about the recreational amenities nearby or you can choose on enjoy the natural opportunities around you. I’ll choose to focus on the positives. There are plenty of lakes with advisories in the summer, May I ask why you single out Pigeon Lake?
Thanks for this super constructive and informative comment! The video outlines the fallacies within those ranking systems, Red Deer crime rates are high due to petty theft and DUI’s. Outside of this it’s actually a very safe place to live.
I understand what you’re saying but those clowns are the anomaly not the norm, as much as it seems like all Albertans are like that. You don’t notice the good ones because they aren’t loud and obnoxious. Sounds like I’m more like you than them. Enjoy the Kootenays - it’s one of my favourite places to visit (respectfully).
My daughter lives there and is doing well. I lived there and found the construction business are very clicky!. I had a friend get stabbed three time while leaving the bar down town. Crack heads. Drugs run rampant.

Grocery stores? Jobs like security, driving or general warehouse labor
