I've started the permits on building my own house in Mexico and I've actually done a lot of calculations on the cost based on materials, land, and location. It looks as if the materials are sort of low-mid quality, but closer to mid and its a little bit over an acre of land and has plenty of square footage. I'd say the house to build would of cost anywhere between $250k to $400k based on where it is located. If its in Mexico City (the Capital) its around 400k, if its in an area much less populated its closer to 250k. I myself am building a house close to Culiacan and I am aiming for 200 meters (2100 sq feet) or so and based on land and labor, its going to be around 120k ish give or take. I am only going to have about a quarter of an acre of land though. Their house is very beautiful though and honestly 250k-400k is very affordable for that. Anywhere else in the US, the house would probably cost millions.
