      Ya I think this would be great for fishing from the shore. Your basically in one spot so should work for you.

    The only downside I see is that you're vulnerable when you have to cook food since you can't run both. Maybe you can run the thermacell first while you setup and that'll give you a short window enough time to boil water before the area dissipates

    I have the 1.0 backpacker with a 16 oz jetboil isobutane propane fuel mix. my top part will not keep a spark when I push the start button. I see a quick blue spark then nothing. Do i need the gen 2 instead?

    • @HikerJ

      You should contact Them cell. They should know people are having trouble with the original that's why they made the Gen 2. Hopefully they would fix yours for you.

    • @bojengels1
      @bojengels1 5 років тому

      I don’t notice flies near me when I have mine going but the moths tend to get overpowered by the lure of the campfire light. Luckily they dive into the fire before they can bother me.

    15' radius, so basically like 7.5' from the center point, not 15' bubble around you. But yeah, it totally worked when I went camping. I didn't get bit once, and also, didn't have bugs in my face at all. We had the portable device, and when that device was too far from me, it was obvious. I'm a fan.

    • @brettkelly4575
      @brettkelly4575 3 роки тому +1

      Yup I've been outside like 6 hours at night relaxing and no bites I didn't have it last night and got atkeast 12 bites

    • @Hicks66Ryan
      @Hicks66Ryan Рік тому +1

      15' radius is 15' from the center point... a 30' diameter circle. Never used one myself, so it may effectively be more like 15' diameter in practice, but as-advertised that's a 30' across bubble.

  • @outdoorsman2b918
    @outdoorsman2b918 Місяць тому

    I guess you mentioned it uses butane. It is just because of the connection?
    If you get the adapters, can you use isobutane or propane?

    Just used one of these on a hiking trip last weekend. There was a few flyers inside the “bubble”
    -I like this over the original Thermacell because of the compactness and fuel. Not having to pay $$ for the small butane has is a plus.
    -I did have a few issues trying to light mine in the morning, I’m not sure if it was condensation or faulty starter.
    -I also bought the ASR Mat12 replacement mats from EBay and will test them out.

    they say its for backpacker yet you have to stay in one place for it to be affective.

    • @andrewfidel2220
      @andrewfidel2220 2 роки тому

      The reason it's for backpackers is it uses isobutane as the fuel source instead of their proprietary butane cylinders. To get 12 evenings of coverage all you need is the small head and a package of pads plus the fuel canister you were going to carry for cooking anyways. That's a ton smaller than a 12 days supply of normal Thermacell supplies plus a big applicator, probably 1/4 the pack volume and less than half the weight.

    You can get the pads from Thailand on amazon that supposed to last 12 hrs and they are cheaper.

    • @rasaiefar
      @rasaiefar 4 роки тому

      actually, Thailand has a local item for mosquito which doesn't need any gas to start, just lit up bottom section and it burns slowly for over 5-6 hours and keeps mosquito and bugs away !!

    Try it where there are bugs to begin with and you will have different results. You maybe had a couple bugs while setting it up....LOL Try it here where you cant breathe in the bush for mosquitoes.
    I have tried mine all over Northern Ontario in many different situations and the only way a therma cell will keep bugs away from you is if you tie a string to it and swing it around your head like a whirling dirvish.
