With shocking yesterday as hundereds of people in Bristol waited in line just for the chance to register for the dentist. With only 4 in 5 dentists accepting patients, its becoming harder for people to get the care they need.

This lot have to go next election, I know labour aren’t perfect but this lot have been in for 14 years and look at the state of this
Alternative is just as worrying!
Are u sure...labour had no issues with the nhs...didnt have a 2.65 trillion debt..it was 711 billion....u clearly have no idea@Amesy20
Labour are who caused this. Them opening the flood gates of immigration has over populated and over whelmed our infrastructure. When governments make changes it often takes a decade or more for those changes to show their full effect. Many problems we have now are due to destructive changes labour made. Not that I support Conservatives either who have had over a decade to improve things but haven't. Neither party care about us. Think outside of the uni-party or things will never improve.
@@craig3420 because when labour was in government the country had not been over populated yet. But the reason we are over populated now is because of the changes Labour made. Changes governments make often take years, even a decade or more to show their effects. Don't be short sighted. Not that I support conservatives either, they have proven to be useless.
@@darkwoods1954Labour does the job in any country because they focus on the poor. Doing that means that poor people are in the budget, and when that happen the poor can buy more food, generates more jobs and gets the economic wheel spinning.
The Tories concentrate their efforts in big corporation gain such as industry tax exemption, oil, gas, energy, arms manufacturing and so on
Outrageous!!
We pay taxes to the nhs why thd government not funding dentists??
Not just deprived AREA!
EVERYWHERE IN THE UK😮
It's not just England, its Northern Ireland as well, disgraceful ..
Um … because the Tories run Northern Ireland too, perhaps?
Jesus Christ give me strength🙄

Been looking for dentist in Somerset for 4 yrs. There are no dentists taking nhs on.
Her husband is managing director of British Sugar. 😁
You recon she uses NHS dentists? Yhea right!!! They should make it part of qualification that newly qualified dentists do at least 5 years in public NHS dentistry before being able to go private 🙌
After 14 years in government, just apologise and say you will try to do better. Do not come up with excuses, and often complaining about healthcare professionals!
It took her 10 years to come up with these initiatives, where you've been love?
Greed
Look at Atkins face she knows she's doing this to people on purpose And laughing about it She is mocking the public
Strange hiw illegal immigrants go straight to the top of the que and I can't get an appointment with my dentist. So I don't believe a word she says 😡😡
Immigrants’ dental appointments are “taken out of a different budget” apparently- I asked my MP. It’s all tax payer money though isn’t it ? I told him🤨
@@Delapraythey will say anything to shut us up. I agree with you its still our tax. Also from what you asked him he didn't say that illegals have to wait there turn behind us 🤔
And there you are 🥴🥴🥴
Strange hiw 🥴
@@Delaprayyour point 🥴
I'm still bitter with my NHS dentist. I've been with them for over 40 years and last year i was told they were no longer treating any NHS patients. I'm now without a dentist and all my local and nearby ones aren't taking any new patients
Drawing narrow little eyebrows on that massive brow ridge is not a good look.
BABIES !! WHY???? THIS IS A HORRIBLE HARMFUL PRACTICE
on the up side, people on means tested benifits recently recived a £299 cost of living payment,
i spent £290 of mine at the dentist having a tooth taken out as there isnt one dentist in mansfield
taking on nhs patiants, it leaves me with a bit of a dilemma, should i spend the remaining £9 on
toping up my gas meter or treat myself to some food?
All these people moaning about the NHS have obviously never lived in the USA where EVERYTHING is private and VERY expensive.
Bristolians 😂😂😂😂 pull the other one. That's taken from the Garza straight. But you can tell it's not a job centre
Why do people in the UK expect everything to be free? You wouldn't expect a plumber to work for free or minimum wage ,so why dentists. Scrap the NHS then people might start looking after their children and their own health.
It's not free at all. We pay an insurance policy. Called national insurance, out of our wages. The NHS is being so underfunded it's collapsing. It's the tory government that's at fault.
The NHS isn't free! We have too many overseas freeloaders using the service.
The Brits pay for the NHS through our taxes, nothing is free except if you are not working in the UK
Scrap the NHS ??? Good luck if you need an ambulance or treatment for long-term illness .
Since when was the NHS free?
Typical tory. Wanting praise for trying to resolve a problem they created.
Even when you can get a Nhs dentist the treatments offered are now limited.
Lost my NHS dentist because it was more lucrative to do private and cosmetic work, he was great!
Good for him! Right?
@@adriftinaboat3452 why?

Was
Shame they need to launch a recovery plan to recover from their own policies of the last 14 years. It was the tories in 1991-2 who lowered the amount paid for each dental treatment by 7%. The dentists told them it would result in them leaving the NHS and taking more private patients.
Makes me sick.
The old Britain is dead. This is the new one and soon we will be paying for all proscriptions
To much immigration.
I can't even get my daughter in the same dentist as me as there not taking any more patients 😮
'..as _they're_ not..'

Bet she blames the junior drs..labour's fault..they have no plan..and back to square one..please..back to square one in 2010...everything was so so much better....
She laughed about it all on pmqs she's not got a clue
Roberto Firminio has left the country and Jurgen Klopp is leaving in the summer. That should free up some dentist from ‘cosmetic procedures’ Victoria 😂😂
Another Rishi WORLD beating succes😩
I got sepsis from poor dental work even the nhs ones still offering the service are not interested in the service. I ended having the wrong gooth pulled out then the one next to it got drilled amd the stuff they put in fell out withing half hr of getting home. Went back they just pulled that one as well.
They need to pay them properly. Private care isn’t possible for everyone. It’s massively expensive just for a check up.
It's not up to teachers to solve dental health issues it's up to the parents.
It’s up to both parents monitoring their children with how often they brush their teeth and if they even do so, plus making sure their children don’t have too many sugary treats in their diets, and dentists for regular checkups as they are critical for good dental hygiene, definitely not teachers. Teaching about how to look after teeth for science and PSHE is as most as it should go.
And when the parents are inept, what happens then?
Yet another reason why I left the UK
It's never this government's fault, it always someone elses. You'd end up thinking they are not human, as humans make mistakes!
God does anything work
dental recovery plan ,like the NHS workforce plan usless
"way dentists get paid is incredibly complicated". How about you explain this complexity so people can realise how you pay NHS dentists so people realise why they wouldn't want to work. As alwayw prioritising money to involve in other unessacary wars in other countries.
Thatcher and Tories started this in 1980s. That's when free NHS treatment changed
14 years & it’s still a mess. Sort this out or fall on your sword women.
Long-term health? I am in my 60s and when we were children they introduced fluoride in water and we saw the dentist without any trouble. I have all my teeth and have never had any issues. Now in 2024, it seems this government has taken us back to the dark ages, and yet they will not acknowledge it and refuse to take responsibility for their own failures.
I went privat bc I really needed a dentist and couldn’t wait no more, I had pain. Also on crutches so can’t wait for ages outside.
£1.290 later … (4 treatments).
Astonishing that such a low calibre individual is in one of most important positions of state
Bristolians or bristol residents ? Not the same thing
I am a dentist working in UK and I wish to explain it to public that this lady didn't admit that NHS dentists are paid badly, they are paid same about even if a patient needs 3 filling or 20 fillings plus extraction and a clean or even rct. Such a shame.
You should move back to India and work in Private sector
Aren’t most dentists migrants? I haven’t seen any English dentists, most dentists are Indian, Greek. Government needs to cut tax by 10% for everyone and allow us to use the 10% cut taxes as we eish
Public vs Private (PvP) is the solution. Directly employ some NHS dentists, and give patients the right to treatment overseas.
Majority of them are Cowboy's anyway...they do a better job as Cobbllers.
Are there no NHS only funded dental surgeries that do not take private appointments?
Charities and vans!!!!
It is simple..stop.
I went privat bc I had severe pain. Also on crutches so can’t wait for ages outside.
£1.290 later … (4 treatments).
Thank god as a brit in florida a dentist on every street corner
Contract with who?
😡😡😡
after 14 years you get it ,,, sacked
Absolutely well said Susanna Reid…
We have 68 million so at least 60 million will need dentist checkups every 6 moths so that’s 120 million visits per annum. How many dentists do we need. To do that ? 10 patients per day. 200 per annum. that’s not including treatment so double that to 240 million visits . We need 120,000. dentists. Idont think we have that many with only 1,4 million in the nHS There are 33,000 registered. In the uk. So we can say we can only see. 25% of the population.
British first the rest can wait at the back of the que.
And another pops up 💤💤💤💤💤
How do I get 1 of these appointments??
