Good grief, Nico Kurz. Fabulous stuff. You going to Q school in the future? Ha. My mum told me you are already a card holder. And she already rates you as a player. So I wish you well, and look forward to seeing more of you.
It’s not point whoring. I swear that term was made up by older players who got upset when they got beat. When these guys are throwing up multiple 7 and 9 marks it’s just smart to stay out of arms length
it's a soft tip thing I think.....and, I never got upset being beaten...I just tried to get better....but, in the leagues I play in, you get guys up 5 and 6 marks and then they pound an open number...what's the point...get out, or be a punk...probably like you, and run up numbers.
After watching many of the top division teams play Cricket in my league, I realized many of them more or less play the strategy that if you can get ahead or beat me with three darts in hand then I need to be up enough points so that those three cannot beat me or get you ahead. They imagine their opponent hitting a R09 on their next throw. Toward the end of that last leg, Nico closed the 15 and had one dart in hand. If he had gone bull, a 6 Pack (6 double bulls with 3 darts) would have put Gates in the lead. So the safer play was at least hitting one 19 but he was killing that treble so when he hit that, it was even better. If he had closed that 15 with only one dart instead of 2, he may have pondered going bull and finishing it out. But the way he played earlier, I bet he would have taken both at 19 to seal the game away. Down in my division, the lowest in our league, we don't play that same way as we are super excited if we hit a rare 5 mark or higher. So we often play up 2-3 bulls in points (5 mark or so) and if we are not on the bull at the end we point to give us more time and put more pressure on the other team. Your remark might have more traction with players in our division than with top players like on the video. Cricket is all about making your opponent shoot where you want them. They can't chase on your heels if you are that far ahead.
the points showing how much respect he has for Soulger's ability to comeback. high level game here!
lets go Nico, good job

Go Gates!
So easy for you guys to get on here and criticize, try doing what they are doing at that level.
as a steel tip player from back in the day, point whoring is bush league. finish your numbers and get out.

If someone doesn't like having a ton of points scored on them, then close the number, nature of soft tip.
