    Thanks for watching the video - one thing to point out, I didn't get my colours exactly right for some of the b roll of the video, the speakers are a little more red in the flesh than the yellow in the video. Colour grading is hard and I am always doing my best here - thanks

    Your channel is one of my favs for HiFi. You never leave a doubt about what shortcomings / disappointments you discovered in a product review. While other reviewers seems to prefer not to publish a so-so review, you publish it anyway. A big thumbs up!

      I just say it how i see it, very rarely is something perfect and if you know what to expect as a buyer and then can act accordingly then I think that makes for a happy person in the end which is what everyone is trying to be. Except let’s be real about it audiophiles are never fully happy as perfection is always one step away :)

    That slow focus on the tweeter at 4:40. Panning over the speaker slowly, from every angle. So artistic!

    Fantastic Review. I think Revival is really giving a nice line of speakers to the Audio World that hit many tastes while still being very much theirs.

    Here's when it's great to have some DIY skills, as you could go in and reduce that tweeter level by -0.5 or 1.0 dB with 1 or 2 resistor changes and increase its compatibility with many more amplifiers.

    I have the Atalante 3s and if I ever get a larger space, I'll still go for the Atalante 5s, even as nice as the 4s come across.

    Excellent review of an interesting speaker. For the similar price, I think the Dynaudio Evoke 50 has a lot less quirks and is hard to beat.

    • @PursuitPerfectSystem
      @PursuitPerfectSystem  7 місяців тому +2

      With the Dynaudio you are fighting the quirk the other way, trying to bring more clarity out of them and focus their sound, with there your just tuning it to the level you want. Now I have been listening to the much more expensive KEF R11 Meta I appreciate more how good these were

    Thanks Terry, you always make such excellent reviews.
    Im not so sure Id get on with looks of these. Im not so keen on offset drivers, they kinda break horozontal symmetry for me, which seems to trigger some ocd for me! I also cant help feeling they could look a little more special at this price point, but Im spoilt in that regard since I got my Elysian 3's.
    Love whatever you review, but im hoping you get some new amps soon. Id love to hear what you make of 'Thomas and Steroes' new power Amp he's hyping so much, the solid state one. Im sure he'd send you one if you asked! 😊

    You say you liked to listen loud, so I wonder if you evaluated how these speakers sound at lower volumes? Like between 65-75 db. Perhaps the highs are less present in that zone. And, as someone else asked, how would you compare them to the fives? As best you can from memory.

  • @tonyhowellcouk

    Great review Terry! I was interested in these till I read the 30m2 room minimum. What size is your room? Mine's 20m2. I want a bigger sound than my smallish Kudos C2, but also like it bright (used to like the Heybrook sound which Peter Comeau is working on again). So that's why the rolled off treble of the Mission 770's concerns me. One suggestion; could you stand by the speakers you review so we can get a better idea of size?! Thanks again.

    Demo on the Atalante3 a couple of days ago with impressive sound imaging but I felt the was a little clinical. The demo with an intergrated Marantz amp.
    Going to check these out this week. I have shorlist to my Rotel diamond 6000 amp & cd at present.

      @@PursuitPerfectSystem Thanks. Just where I'm located, they dont have these combo to audition ie Atalante4 + Rotel amp. At present, Rotel is having a 1/2price sale for the Diamond series, which is very favourable. My old setup is a Yamaha S701+ Yamaha 5disc carousel + Polk Rti A7. First of all congratulations for the review. I recently bought an Atalante 3 driven by a Rega Aethos in 45 m2, incredible sound and powerful bass. My doubt concerns the height of the 70 cm stands, I would like to switch to the 60 cm ones but you say that the higher tweeter creates a greater 3D effect. Did I understand correctly?

    You noted that the M23 amp didn't score so well with these speakers. I feel after listening to class D amps I can't find a good sound signature with any of them. I turn the volume up but it just magnifies the dullness of the sound.

    hello, can this speaker come close to performance of arendal loudspeakers. I asume arendals with their balanced presenation could be better for acurate rendition of classical music, but I never heart them. Now haeving atlante 3 at home and I trully enjoy them more than I expected. I understand that you reviewed much smaller speaker from arendal but except to obvious differences. Is arendal technicaly much better speaker than revival?

  • @razisn
    @razisn 7 місяців тому

    I don't like the fact that the drivers do not sit flush with the baffle. In theory that can cause diffraction anomalies, more so with the tweeters. It also looks like a cost saving measure. Also, the tweeter looks to be too high to be in line with a seated listener's ears. Some speakers are designed for off axis tweeter listening but this is quite rare, and here the height difference seems extreme.

    • @PursuitPerfectSystem
      @PursuitPerfectSystem  7 місяців тому

      Dynaudio have been designing speakers with protruding tweeters for decades. The big downside to it is the fragility of the driver protruding the positive is there is nothing infront of the tweeter like a grill or similar

    • @razisn
      @razisn 7 місяців тому

      @@PursuitPerfectSystem Dynaudio are using specially designed sub-baffles for the tweeters. The problem is not the tweeter dome itself protruding but it's mounting. Read about the diffraction caused by this. For me it is just for cheaper cabinet construction and/or a misguided styling decision. You can see that in the other drivers too but at least there there is probably no adverse effect due to longer wavelengths.

    • @ianjohnhorwood2605
      @ianjohnhorwood2605 7 місяців тому

      there are many passive speakers that are massively disappointing in sound quality no matter if driving them with some expensive amplification . You just cannot get all the inner detail , presence , air of detail of a recording with a lot passive audio systems and speakers with their passive crossover components in the way the signal , and that's the crux of the matter with many passive audio systems . Also there are many passive systems which sound diffuse , opaque dull and samey with recordings , and the opposite to that kind of sound is also true . Many systems just don't sound realistic with the sound of real instruments . The best designs of active loudspeakers like ATC for instance get you as close as is possible with dynamic loudspeakers as to a sense of real instruments playing . Also vocals are on another level than with many passive systems .

    • @PursuitPerfectSystem
      @PursuitPerfectSystem  7 місяців тому

      Thats a very general statement based on what? What is inner detail? How many different passive speakers have you listened to side by side in a good room to say this? It would need to be like over 50% of all of them that exist to make the statement you are. There are many attributes to good sound Ian, not just a couple
