What a wonderful film displaying 3 different and yet excellent actors and their range of acting is just awesome. I love them all. I admit I am not such a great Charles Bronson fan, although I always give him his due in respect for his acting. I am however an avid Mifune Toshiro and Alain Delon fan and this was just perfectly played, as usual, by all 3. There is a bit of humour, which I enjoyed, a lighthearted display of testing a strong man, when Bronson is testing Mifune and fails to budge him. But then, taking his clothes away is also a silly trick, by which he gets what he wants. I have seen this film couple of times but it is just a perfectly balanced film. There is a little amount of humour also in it, which is good. Mifune at the age of 51 looks great, he is in great form and he is just as fast as before; the man is a wonder. The director is able to bring out Mifune's amazing talent, because some directors do not seem to be able to show all he can do on camera. I was dissapointed with Jerry London, however much I loved the film Shogun, I felt he was not good at letting Mifune shine. I am never disappointed in Alain Delon, these 3 are classical examples of great actors working together in harmony. They are so powerful it is hard to see who steals a scene. I do not know Ursula Andress too much, she was good as the fiesty woman, lover of the wicked man Gauche. I wish I could get my hands on more Mifune films. I am trying to catch up with his Kurosawa films but I do search for others too. I have seen most of Alain Delon's films. I used to have this film dowloaded but in a silly moment a deleted in and now I cannot download it anymore. I saw it online, but it is not the same, because those can be taken down any moment. In fact, just after watching it, it was removed some kind of a note said that it violated some laws being there, online. Dunno, it is such an old film it should already be public domain, I think at least.
I actually came here looking for a Japanese movie called The Red Sun, starring Mifune that I saw in college in the late 70s.. it was all in Japanese with no English subtitles, but you could follow the story. it was my first Japanese movie to see and you could see it was quality movie making.
Red sun, red sun over paradise Red sun, red sun over paradise Golden rays of the glorious sunshine Sending down such a blood-red light Now, the animals slowly retreat to the shadows, out of sight Arid winds blow across the mountains Giving flight to the birds of prey In the distance machines come to transform Eden, day by day Only love is with us now Something warm and pure Find the peace within ourselves No need for a cure When the wind is slow, when the fire's hot The vulture waits to see what rots Oh, how pretty, all the scenery This is nature's sacrifice When the air blows through with a brisk attack The reptile tail ripped from its back When the sun sets We will not forget the red sun over paradise Red sun

I could watch Charles Bronson movies all day

i think youre talking about Red Beard, not Red Sun
Red sun, red sun over paradise
Red sun, red sun over paradise
Golden rays of the glorious sunshine
Sending down such a blood-red light
Now, the animals slowly retreat to the shadows, out of sight
Arid winds blow across the mountains
Giving flight to the birds of prey
In the distance machines come to transform Eden, day by day
Only love is with us now
Something warm and pure
Find the peace within ourselves
No need for a cure
When the wind is slow, when the fire's hot
The vulture waits to see what rots
Oh, how pretty, all the scenery
This is nature's sacrifice
When the air blows through with a brisk attack
The reptile tail ripped from its back
When the sun sets
We will not forget the red sun over paradise
Red sun
