West Babylon Building Fire (Strahl & Pitsch Inc) ~ 02/27/23

At approximately 19:30 hours on February 27th, 2023 The West Babylon Fire Department was alerted for a Signal 13 in the vicinity of Railroad Avenue between Maplewood Road and Flurry Lane. Additional information given to responding units from Babylon Central Fire Alarm was that it was a reported warehouse on fire. An additional caller advised it was the Wax Factory at 230 Great East Neck Road. Upon the arrival of 1-9-31, he had active fire on the roof and transmitted the working fire. Initial mutual aid consisted of The Lindenhurst Fire Department for the Rapid Intervention Team (1-6-4), and Wyandanch Wheatley Heights Ambulance for Rehab to the scene. Upon command’s request, an extra two ladders were brought to the scene, one of which coming from The Babylon Fire Department (1-2-8), and the other coming from The North Lindenhurst Fire Department (1-11-4). Upon the arrival of Lindenhurst Truck 1-6-4, they were put to work as a working truck. The new Rapid Intervention Team was requested from North Babylon (1-8-6). Crews operated numerous handlines for fire in the one-story commercial, A total of three ladders operated on the roof, including one with a handline. Mutual aid to the scene consisted of The Lindenhurst Fire Department for a Tower Ladder (1-6-4), The Babylon Fire Department for a Tower Ladder (1-2-8), The North Babylon Fire Company for the Rapid Intervention Team (1-8-6) and one engine to standby (1-8-3), The North Lindenhurst Fire Department for a Tower Ladder (1-11-4). Wyandanch Wheatley Heights Ambulance for Rehab. The cause of the fire is under investigation and there were no reported injuries.
