      @@SpeedTutor the whole tutorial was super useful personally since i'm a completely begginer at Unity! But specially your teaching schema: *tool -> cases -> how to? -> why this and not this? -> apply & demostrate. Voice speed is friendly as well lol

      Haha, I appreciate it! That's the way I always understand things in the way that I want to see a real world use case for something. You can show me something to do the end of time or teach me the theory but it won't stick until I see a practical application. Thanks for taking the time to comment because it's always really helpful to understand thoughts. You have a fantastic day and I hope to see you around the comments again! :)

    Suggestions For a Part 2:
    Maybe An Audio Manager Class, Store all the sounds in one Spot?
    And
    Triggering sounds from an array of options
    Imagine A Six shooter Gun
    each Bullet has it's own variation of the sound
    Call them in order, or pick randomly out of the six
    or
    Using pitch:
    each time it shoots it changes in pitch by a fixed amount
    or modifier in an array (+ 0.4, -0.2, + 0.6 etc)
    OR (For Maximum Juiciness)
    And you want to get crazy, show how to use Audacity to
    Change the sounds effects by Key
    and really show off
    Thank you For All The Videos!
    Cheers

    Maybe show how to link that with the Main Menu volume you did? I see a extra thing you could show would be to set sounds timed with animations, setting a event on a specific 2D sprite frame for example and that sound changing depending what material you step on (Wood, dirt, glass, etc)

    Thx so much for this. But I have a problem. I want to add a sound when a cube is moving. But my sound start playing to late (3 seconds later the cube starting moving. I just write in my script source.Play() in update method in my condition for the cube is moving. The sound has no delay when I 'play on awake'.

    Thank you for the tutorial! It goes through many aspects of the audio settings.
    I have tried the script for playing an audio Source after pressing a button on the keyboard (M) but it is not activated in the game mode!
    Any ideas about the potential problem?
    I have followed the instructions and the source plays when set to play on awake. BUt when I untick it so that it uses the script it is not working.
    Thanks!

    This tutorial needs an update as the first steps DO NOT WORK. You CANNOT drop and drag sounds into the project. IT WILL NOT WORK. You MUST import them through the menu. If you don't import them via the menus the sounds will not be manipulatable in Unity.
    Not knowing this simple step put back my project WEEKS. Pls add/change this tute or add text at the top of the description otherwise the following information/tute WILL NOT WORK

    • @SpeedTutor
      @SpeedTutor  3 роки тому

      I'm not sure what you mean? Do you mean that you haven't already imported them into your project? As if you already imported them into your project, you can simply drag and drop them into the hierarchy. If not, create an emtpy gameobject, add an AudioSource and add the clip to the source. Unless I'm misunderstanding?

    • @lfrohling
      @lfrohling 3 роки тому +1

      @@SpeedTutor Thank you so much for the reply :) Sort of understanding - the tutorial doesn't specify how the audio files actually get into the project in the first place. At 1:25 you say "we can grab any sound we've got and we can drag it and drop it into our hierarchy" - the assumption is that we can drag and drop straight from the browser (windows explorer) into the project (perhaps straight into the hierarchy) but that is not the case.
      Sounds musts be manually imported (via the menu) and cannot be properly integrated (or worked with) when drag and dropped into the assets folders (nor the hierarchy). It might sound trivial to you (and perhaps other seasoned Unity developers) but for beginners like me (and perhaps the people this tutorial is aimed at) it is a crucially missing part of the instructions. Not having that one bit of information (it seems like common sense to me now) would've saved me a literal week of trying to convert my audio files into multiple different bit-rates, formats, etc etc etc to try and work with them inside Unity.
      I'm not blaming you- I kept coming back to this tutorial (and your other ones) because you have updated information and you present it in an efficient yet friendly fashion. Very hands on way of showing the information unlike most presenters who shoot straight from the hip (unscripted) and it shows. But you may want to add these additional information somewhere in this tutorial (perhaps an overlay or description enlargement) to save beginners like me from chasing their tail :)

    • @SpeedTutor
      @SpeedTutor  3 роки тому +1

      I have no way to add other information to the video now sadly, the reason I didn't add about importing sounds or other assets into the project is because this isn't a beginner tutorial on how to use Unity per se. It's actually a tutorial on using a specific part of the engine, so we would have to assume you have the basics of Unity down. Therefore you must know that things need importing into the hierarchy before using. Although when I released this video I did realise I messed that part out, but it was already finished. Thanks for your input though, I hope others (If they have a similar issue) - Will see your comment and it help them out too! :)
