This guy used to be my best friend when I was a child. I've never known a worse pain as a child because he was like my older brother. It took me a long time to realize that God had other plans, but I relive those days in my heart.
I am still haunted by the fact that in months prior to his murder, D-Boy asked me to go keep him company in studio while he mixed Lyrical Strength...losing him is a pain none of us will ever forget. His farher performed my wedding and his family continues to bless me daily.
here in 2023 - I still love and listen to D-Boy, always loved his music growing up and still love it today. R.I.P. Mr. M.C. D-Boy - you are still blessing us today.
Pick yourself up was and still is the song I listen to the most. I take my kids to visit him. They love his music. They ask me did you know him? Yes! Proud to have! Love you D.
This clip is over 20 years old. What made you think rap would still sound the same today as it did in the 80's? If you ask me, this is still better than most of the mainstream rap out today.
@TruthIsPainful1 too bad you weren't around when "rap" started. this was my brother and he was the "real deal". I'm sure if he were still around he would have evolved with the new sounds. music starts somewhere. at it's roots it might sound pretty primitive but does evolve through time.
christian rap, rock, reggae etc...has come a long way. This video was a stepping stone for D-Boy (the original!) his albums did not sound like this. Anyways, don't you think he was giving good advise? I guess such advise is trash to many nowadays that is why society is the way it is. D Boy was killed for the cause of Christ, so he is way off better than us struggling down here with this cruel world. & no its no joke...
the greatest it because of these artist like D BOY that pave the way for artist today in CHH and not really mention body of christ dont you forget about them the struggle was real DROP THE MIC D BOY song was the best
yeah danny was way before his time he was no fake he trully loved god and died that way.rap music was his thing i remember when he would write his songs.he still is alive in alot of heart GOD BLESS YALL!!! peace danny
it's too late I'm in this mess/ I stick out my chest/ I gotta win this fight out here/ I don't joke like a prankster/ I was born in the barrio and i'll die like a gangsta. rip d-boy
Wow cool d-boy Rodriguez really a person that would try to help and that buckner terrace area in between East dallas and pleasant grove inner city neighborhoods were really tough growing up.I grew up not to far from that area.Alot people I know fell victim to drugs, thugs, sex and gang violence in that area.Fortunately we moved away from the inner city to far southeast dallas area called kleberg which was a little better than buckner terrace but it's an inner city section too but not as dangerous. Our whole family made it and are living more comfortably than in East dallas and pleasant grove. But I am sure d-boy Rodriguez was an inspiration to young people that were heading in the wrong direction.I salute him.may he rest in peace I am sure you are truly missed cuz you were a good guy.R.I.P.
Hey TruthisPainful, obviously you don't appreciate classic hip hop and if you think the garbage that gets passed around on top 40 is cool the that says something about your tastes...
It was assassination. Set up by angry and sullen Drug Dealers. He was “messing with their business” with his ministry and helping steer youth away from Drugs and Gang banging.
It was assassination. Local Dope Slingers put out a hit on him because his positive message was both winning souls and helping repel youth from getting involved with drugs.

Wow, D-Boy was dropping it down even before his debut. It's a shame he died after just getting his feet wet in Christian rap.
He was the best! I knew his musics in 1994, here in Brazil, and he was with Jesus.
Hes knocking at the door of your heart!

He was directly targeted and assassinated by jealous drug dealers working the streets in Dallas.

The killing of rappers goes WAY back
IMA SPOOKY
What song is that Gary?
The police said Danny's death was mistaken identity or robbery motive, it has never been solved, and is a cold case today.
It was assassination. Local Dope Slingers put out a hit on him because his positive message was both winning souls and helping repel youth from getting involved with drugs.
@anelfinphile...
I LOVED Danny's music. Trust me, whoever shot him God has Danny's back & knows who shot him. #GodWillMakeSureDannyGetsHisJustice :-)!
