- Werner Karl continues racing and evolving his brutal Audi S2-R quattro prepared by Ramler Motorsport on the Austrian Hillclimb Championship. The 2.2L Inline 5 Turbocharged Monster is faster than ever with over 650Hp moving only 1090Kg, delivered to all 4 Wheels through a 6-speed Sequential Gearbox.
Posting impressive results through all Season during 2019, as was the example at St. Agatha, Kitzeck, Gasen, St. Anton and Verzegnis ( events shown in the clip) expect it to be even faster and possibly crazier looking on 2020. For now let´s watch and most importantly hear this incredible machine.
The Audi inline 5 cylinder has to be the best sounding internal combustion engine ever produced. It sounds so glorious and smooth but at the same time, brutal and angry. Thank you for posting this
When I drive my turbo volvo it's engine never sounds as aggressive but the tone is there. I think it has the same firing order
erik litchy most in-line 5 cylinders firing order are 1-2-4-5-3
It's the exhaust configuration, not the firing order. It's a 3+2 exhaust system, so one exhaust is for 2 cylinders and one is for 3. Giving different sound frequencies at the same RPM.
@@eaglewi Any 5 cylinder with double (and seperate) exhaust system will use a 3+2 configuration, giving rise to a twin tone sound. If it's a 5-in 1 exhaust, it would just sound a little higher than a 4-cylinder engine at same RPM.
Somehow it combines all the good sounds from both turbo and naturally aspirated engines .

The S2, has the looks AND the engine. Just a marvellous combo of technologies that came together. Gotta love the twin tone 3+2 exhaust sound!
Audi had that unfair advantage for a while with the 5 cylinder AWD quattros
Brutal car, just that engine, the aero and the stance.
And the performance is impressive, as is the sound.
I love Audi and this sound is mega because when there is such a car around you it is obviously that everybody turns to him because it cannot be resisted.

This is my favorite sounding car on this channel.
It would be so cool to own one of these and use it as a daily to go to work and go grocery shopping with your family. This car would be my personal time capsule, this Audi would take me back to better days when cars where just better because of their pure design and overall great experience.

Amazing sound. Even with 1/2 the cylinders of the V-10 era F1 cars, the Audi 5-pot under boost sounds angrier in my opinion.

Zlatkov's car sounds better because it revs to like 9k, and has that timeless group B cool factor, but to me this is the coolest looking Audi Hillclimb car going. Sounds amazing in its own way too, incredibly raw.
THE Hillclimb Monster. It looks SO DAMN GOOD. 5 Cylinder Turbo torque and sound brings a tear to MEIN EYE. It looks so well setup and controllable! I think for sure it would take a man named "Werner Karl" from Austria to brew this up. I imagine he needs more power soon as overcomes physics and is more capable as a driver.
It will surely be even faster this season ;)

In a odd kind of way the sound reminds me of the Mazda Le Mans 4 rotor rotary engine. All angry in your face take no prisoners sound that you don't forget. Definitely a very impressive car.

Now that´s an idea...
I’d weigh less and that means it’d handle better and go faster, specially with a fully built APR engine. They tuned a TTrs to over 600 hp. So and maintenance would be cheaper too. All around win. Currently my dream car build (Take an R8 V8...)

So then the R-18 Etron then. 🤣 Sure it May have been Na but it had electric motors for an assist. That’s still counts as “boost”. Therefore a 2.5 L i5 with turbos also has boost. Different kind of boost, but it achieves the same result. Moar Powa Babeh!
