    Hey Chris! Great chat here about your watch. I really love it, and have wanted to get one for a long long time. I wanted to ask you.. how was it when it entered the USA? (I live in Miami, FL). Because this is over $800, did you have a hard time with customs, or have to pay anything additional when Fed-Ex tried to deliver it to you? How did that part work? I have herd some real horror stories with trying to get a watch through customs when ordered overseas. Thanks so much!

    • @chriswatchreviews4752
      @chriswatchreviews4752  3 роки тому +1

      Hello! yea, there was an added fee from Fedex after it arrived. I didn't realize this at first until I received a late notice from Fedex telling me I was behind on a payment. I had to read it over carefully and only then did I realize that I had to pay an extra fee/tax/whatever they call it because it was shipped from overseas. I think it was only an extra $25, but it was still a nuisance nonetheless. I don't regret the purchase at all or having to deal with that, because that watch has become of my favorites in my collection. Thanks!

      @@chriswatchreviews4752 Thanks for the quick response Chris! Okay great, so it was pretty painless then. No worries. You have 1 of 2 videos anywhere on UA-cam showing that specific watch, lol. I really love this watch, an idea for you for a future video (and something that no many watch reviews do) is to feature a dedicated video, showing a watch on several different straps. THAT would be great content, and possibly a "nitch" for your channel to grow even more. I know this sounds crazy, but I would love to see this watch on a nice nato strap (I know, at first you would think this would be crazy), BUT.. I think it would be possible to pull off depending on the strap and hardware. Imagine if you had a stash of a bunch of straps, and everytime you made a video.. you show a watch with a new option, lol. Would be so cool! Recently, someone did this for the new Sinn U50. They did a full review, but then did a deciated video "strap showcase" and I think that was a brillant idea!

      @@travisharrisphotography Thanks for the input! Its funny you mention that, I was considering doing something similar for my Seiko DressKX that I purchased almost 2 months ago. @@chriswatchreviews4752 Very nice! Yeah that would be great! I think one of the best ways for people to get more from their watches, is to explore different straps. I have had my Omega Seamaster for 11 years, on the stock stainless bracelet. Its nice, but once I started with Natos, forget it.. now I can give it a new look daily. Then, rubber straps, etc.. all good stiff and will radically make a small collection of watches much more fun.

      Hi! I absolutely still have the watch! It is far and away one of my favorite timepieces. I really have no complaints about it at all, it still keeps really accurate time, the winding mechanism is excellent, the fit and finish is excellent, the leather band is one of the most comfortable bands I've ever had on a watch from the factory. I have absolutely no interest in ever getting rid of it, if I had any gripe at all, it would be that the 40 mm is a little big for a dress watch, but I still probably would have gotten the same size instead of the 36. I’m considering buying one for me as my 1st watch. It looks just so classy. Do you have any idea about anti-magnetism protection. I’m working in science and have often some « strong » magnetic field near by. (100-1000G)

    • @chriswatchreviews4752
      @chriswatchreviews4752  4 роки тому

      I am not 100% sure but I am pretty sure that it does not have anti-magnetic properties. For something like that I would recommend the new Tissot Gentleman Silicium, which has a silicon balance spring for greater anti-magnetic properties. You can get one on the bracelet for about $600 on amazon. I almost pulled the trigger on one recently myself, still might in the future. Thanks for viewing!

    • @chriswatchreviews4752
      @chriswatchreviews4752  4 роки тому

      Hi! I don't think your 6.3 inch wrist would be too small for it. My wrist for comparison is about 6 3/4 inch in length. If you are concerned about it, they do make a 36mm size that might fit a little better. Hope that helps, thanks for tuning in!

  • @travisharrisphotography
    @travisharrisphotography 3 роки тому

    Hey Chris, me again :-) Okay, I have decided this is the watch for me. However, now I am daunted with choosing.. either the 36mm or the 40mm like you got. For me, I have 6" wrist. However, this does not tell the whole story when choosing a watch size. For example, my arms tho skinny, are more flat around the wrist area vs. round. So, yes 6" maybe a factor for the band to fit.. but, the watch itself I think lug to lug is most important. In my case I have apx. 50 - 51mm "thick" area on top of wrist. Now, the other thing is looking at the other watches I currently own... My Seamaster 300m is 40mm / 47mm lug to lug. My Tissot PRC 200, is 40mm and about the same lug to lug, by biggest watch is an old Swiss Army Chrono.. and this is 40mm and 50mm lug to lug. So, using this as my "benchmark" when I wear it, (mainly on nato) Yes, the lugs come right to the edge of my wrist.. but somehow it looks okay and not too big. When I look at the specs of the 36mm Stowa.. (44mm lug to lug) this makes me feel like I would also want to go for the 40mm version. I would think the 36mm would look so small. Also, 18mm band would be annoying to me. I want 20mm. Granted 44mm lug to lug would be better for me.. but, man.. dropping down to 36mm to do so.. makes me worried. This is actually a really hard choice. In fact, this is the main reason I cant order it, lol. If I get it "wrong" then its a HUGE pain in the ass to return it, and it will cost about $200 to do that with all the fees involved (saw another guy on the forums who had to do that). For you, I can tell that your wrist width is well beyond 50mm, so the choice is easy. For me, both sizes would likely work, with the 40mm looking perhaps a little "big" for me, but.. wondering if I should risk that to having one that I feel is really too small and dainty looking. I dont want to wear this as a "dress" watch, more of an "everyday" in rotaion watch casual. But, yet can be used for dress up when needed etc. What do you think?

    • @chriswatchreviews4752
      @chriswatchreviews4752  3 роки тому +1

      Hi Travis! I can totally see your conundrum here. I have a 36mm Rolex Datejust that I feel wears great for my 63/4 inch wrist without feeling dainty, but that has more to do with the Oyster case design more than anything. My largest watch is a Laco Bremerhaven with a 42.5mm diameter and 50mm lug to lug. 50mm is about as much as I can pull without it looking too big. I honestly feel that the 40mm version of the Stowa wears really well, especially since it has a rather compact lug to lug distance for a 40mm watch. Out of all the watches in my collection, I honestly feel that that particular watch wears the best in terms of its size relative to my wrist. If you are wanting to wear this as a daily wear, I think you can pull it off with a 6" inch wrist without it looking too big, especially if you already can pull off an Omega Seamaster. As far as the lug width goes, that didn't even factor into my decision making. The strap that came with it is still, to this day, the most comfortable strap I have ever had come with a watch, and I haven't changed it out yet in the 10 months I have owned it. Hope this helps in your search Travis! Be easy!

      @@chriswatchreviews4752 Thanks Chris! I appreciate your quick feedback. Yeah, its all a bity of a brain tickle for sure, lol. Plus, some of it is subjective too, which also makes it harder. I keep searching and searching for more and more peoples pics etc. The only other video, is one by The Urban Gentry. He also has a smaller wrist, but in his review he has the 36mm version and, of course looks great on him as well. :-( This is why its soooo frustrating. As a last resort I might ask Stowa if they can make a recommendation. Thanks again Chris. I appreciate that you did this review. Keep up all the great work!

    • @chriswatchreviews4752
      @chriswatchreviews4752  4 роки тому

      According to what I've read, its because of this: 12 numerals are thus printed on their dials. One of the reasons for the use of IIII instead of IV could easily be to obtain a greater visual balance. The IIII numeral, more complex than the usual IV numeral, might provide better visual balance to the complex VIII found on the other side of the dial. I know its weird but its true on almost all watches and clocks
