TWO THINGS 1. when I filmed the "unboxing" footage, I had already opened the products and used them (you can tell by the fingerprints and slight messiness). There were a few kinks (jumping focus, exposure) which will be worked out in time! 3. it's pronounced ore-ick
Thank you so much for the thorough and thoughtful review!! I loved hearing the considerations you make as a consumer, and I was also particularly touched about your end statement on wanting to love products for longer. That is exactly what I’ve always loved myself about luxury products - I feel more excited to use them, it feels more special for a much longer time, and it makes the whole experience of getting ready that much more enticing to me. Thank you again! ☺️☺️
AW SAM the thought of you watching makes me feel like a shy little smidge! But thank you for watching and commenting! Congratulations on an absolutely beautiful launch
I haven’t gotten to that portion yet but damn, such a good comment. I’ll have to remember that. I actually just walked around my place and admitted to myself that I’m a hoarder. I have a problem and I need to work on it. Self care for me is totally not giving in to most of my impulses, it’s self care for my financial, physical, and emotional self and I’m going to start thinking of that.
I love how used your makeup always looks. It’s so satisfying to see it smeared around the edges of the pans, with big dips taken out !!! When someone shows a product in near perfect condition and says that they haven’t been able to put it down, I side eye them...
One thing I noticed about Auric, is that when you go to the complexion product, the first ones at the top are the darkest shades, and then you scroll down to the lightest. I really can't think of another time where I've seen that, even with brands that are very inclusive in their shade range.
I've seen a few black-owned brands that do this. For instance OUMA Beauty and Juvia's Place start with the deepest shades. As far as I know, Auric is the first brand owned by a non-POC that lists the darkest tones first. I'm really impressed by the thought that Samantha Ravndahl put into her company.
I really feel like Auric also will stand apart from Sam's personality, and status as an influencer, as a true proper brand and also feel it is more luxurious. I think it will be a MASSIVE success for a long time
Even tho I want to buy everything everything you recommend, I appreciate the added reminder that self care is often not buying a thing. I’m discovering how much I already have and perhaps have not given its full potential to during my 3 month no -buy
I got the shade Pyrite which is the olive one. Olive undertones are often neglected in shade ranges. I was pleasantly surprised and happy to purchase! Can’t wait to hear your thoughts.
That was another thing Sam wanted too besides doing everything ethically. She’s dragged and stopped using other brands because they refuse to be all skin color inclusive.
The Flollywood Flawless Filter has been on my wishlist for years (because of Sam), but Charlotte Tilbury as a brand has never really done it for me. Something about the packaging, price point, and annoying advertising has made it easier to resist CT. I'm so happy that there is a more ethical version of the Flawless Filter that actually looks like it will be more flattering on my cool pinky skin tone. Thank you for the amazingly thorough review!
I can definitely tell you and Joe are working on the quality of the video. It’s looking very professional! Thank you for doing your swatch videos, always so fun to watch!
Every time you closed your eyes for a second, or looked down at something, that shadow... man... it is just captivating. So beautiful! Thank you for such a thoughtful review and channel. ☺️
Hannah! You are killing it!! Seriously. This video and the Finding Ferdinand stick out to me the most but you are really thriving in these reviews! Keep up the amazing work!
I love Ego on you. I like the contrast to your warm tones, but with the slight green to the powder, it suits you so well. And your review was awesome... considered and a joy to watch
Such a great review Hannah whilst always keeping your channel philosophies at the forefront! I hope any new viewers brought by this review see what we do and become part of the loyal HLP army!
I’m fair with cool and olive undertones and 70 years old, but people tell me I look 50. Decided to try Auric Lust in the newest shade Morganite. I mixed the tiniest amount into my SPF Foundation from Amazon, Misha in shade 21. OMG!!! I lost 15 years.I expect I’ll start being carded soon. No seriously, this stuff gives a lovely natural glow and great moisture retention. It’s winter and my face hasn’t dried out as it would have without Auric Lust in the mix. It is pricey, but a little goes a long way. I also like to put a little directly under my eyes and at the inner and outer corners under concealer. I am thrilled with this product. Thanks Hannah.
I have Temper in the Smoke Reflect, which is the rose gold shade. The topper shade appears much dryer and densely-packed than yours. Still pretty but just wanted to note for anyone reading and interested!
I also have Temper and the topper is very tightly packed. The cream is beautiful and very smooth, but the topper I find I have to dip multiple times with my finger to get the powder. Not the end of the world, but I was a little surprised. To me, the cream part was more important so I'm glad it's so smooth
This, in my opinion, was the most practical, as well as professional, review of the Auric brand that I’ve seen this far. Thank you, Hannah. ❤️✨ *Subscribed*
Loved this review! Can't believe you got it out so quick! I'lll definitely be picking up the Glow Lust once I run out of my Glossier Futuredew since I'm not supporting Glossier right now. I was thinking about getting the CT Flawless Filter instead, but seeing that this product is the same and I love what Auric stands for, I'll happily spend some money for an awesome product that I think will work out PERFECTLY for me needs. Plus, all those skincare-benefit ingredients? My super dry skin will love it.
Hannah I love you for still elegantly reminding us about conscious consumerism during your review. These products look amazing, I think I'll wait until there is a lighter shade added to the range but this was really helpful. It's also a great reminder of how patience pays off, I've always wanted CT because of Sam's and then everyone's experiences with the product but never bit the bullet. And now there is this! The makeup industry will continue to enhance itself and I will float along and pluck the products that have ripened to perfection.
I had been eyeing the hollywood flawless filter and when I saw this, I got it and picked a color of the smoke reflect that I didn't have already in my collection. And I am very happy with them! I held off buying makeup this month when I found out this was releasing this month. And so glad I did! This release made me think of you and looking at those smoke reflect, made me think of the tom ford eye duo!
I’m glad you had to get the grey color. I have the bronze and rose tf cream/powders and was interested in trying auric, however I didn’t want dupes. Thanks for the review love!
The grey cream is total Terry Barber vibes when swatches, talked about some sooty ashes. I’m so anxious for my glow lust to arrive. You were the first person I thought of when this line launched. I still want the Tom Ford but I go back and forth if I’d use a Roen single more. Great review!
If Auric came out with a Glow Lust in the same shade as the Chanel luminizer you swatched, that would be amazing. (Would much rather support Auric than Chanel.)
I'm really interested in the Auric cream eyeshadow. I have wanted the TF but I don't support that brand because their fashion line isn't size inclusive and the personality/designer has been one of the most outspoken about keeping fashion elite for people that fit a certain size aesthetic. I'm glad you brought up the fact that you were pre-disposed to like these because you like Sam. I think that's the elephant in the room in every influencer brand review on youtube. I've bought a lot of stuff to either support influencers or because influencer products tend to get really positive reviews, with a few exceptions. I'll wait on this because I'm in a mini no-buy right now, but it's definitely going on the wishlist. That gray is my fantasy. It looks almost green-y, blue-y on the eye which is beautiful.
The Hollywood flawless filter is just little too dark to work for me, as all over product. This review made me realize this is too. I am thinking maybe the Chanel is my best choice
Such a good review Hannah! I've watched a few reviews of the Glow Lust and this is the first time I understand why they say Morganite works well with a cooler skin tone. The base pigment seemed warm to me but in your close ups I can see how it would be suited for pink-toned skin!
An excellent drug store dupe that’s been around forever is the Lumi Glowtion. I have been using it for years and never tire of it! It gives the same effect. I’m interested in picking up the Auric, so maybe I’ll try that after I finish my Lumi 😊
Hi new viewer! I’ve never seen a review be so thorough! I love how you touched on consumerism. I don’t own any of the comparable products you shared in the video. I bought the glow lust in pyrite and I was blown away by the effect. Now I know I can skip on the Charlotte one. I did get the reflect in Defiance and I’m glad because I wasn’t sure which shade to get, but I have rosy (Kaja glowing guava) and taupe (Butter London moonshine) shades in other products so it ended up being the more unique one to add to my collection.
So excited for this review! As soon as I saw this set of products I thought that you would be such a good person to review them, what a perfect choice for the use of your channel budget.
I never wear liquid highlight and lately I haven’t worn much eyeshadow so I’m not in the market at all for products like this. Somehow though I watched this whole thing riveted, and feeling proud of you and Sam by the end!
Although I am not planning on buying from Auric at the moment because I have makeup that gives me the desired effect right now, I definitely am keeping my eyes open. I also have the Hollywood Flawless Filter, but was curious about the comparison to the Glow Lust particularly around the shades. I am like you in that I am extremely fair and often the lightest shade in any complexion product is too dark for me. If I was to get the Glow Lust once I'm out of the Flawless Filter, I wanted to make sure the shade would be able to suit me or if it was too dark that it was possible to use it in a small amount sheered out. My curiosity is sated now, thank for being the guinea pig for us pale girls :)
To echo previous comments, LOVING the video quality, and I am not usually one to notice! Go Hannah and Joe! Thank you for the review as well, I appreciate the in-depth review of the tones of the products in addition to everything else! :)
this is the first video of yours i’ve seen and the first makeup video i’ve watched in ages, and i have to say i love your personal outlook on consumerism and what you bring into your life. i feel the same way about losing interest in your possessions and i think the high speed nature of the beauty scene has kind of made me fall out of love with makeup. for the first time in a while i feel like buying something different! thanks
This was a lovely review and I stopped everything I was doing to watch it because I talked myself out of this launch when it came out but I simply can’t stop thinking about it since I saw the reveal video! I think this confirmed that I definitely want to pick it up eventually 😄
I am so excited and grateful that you chose to review these products! Your reviews are some of my favorites, and I appreciate the perspective you bring when approaching product evaluations😊
This video deserves to blow up. The sheer effort and detail that went into this does not go unnoticed! I just love these thorough reviews ^__^ (also can I just say your skin is looking RADIANT)
Great review. I will likely try pyrite as a glow lust once all of my liquid highlighters are used up. So, probably make a purchase around Christmas this year or for my birthday next year. Whichever comes first when I run out of my current supply of two. Both are minis.
There is a shade in the Juvia's Place Douce palette that is similar to the powder shade in Ego, called Mont Blanc. Certainly close enough to get a similar look, one of my favorite eyeshadows. Thought I'd mention it here in case anyone has the palette and, like me, is lusting after the duo.
Thank you for the gentle reminder of not needing to buy all the things as it’s especially difficult when you love the creator. This is the most exciting influencer brand to date BUT I knew I didn’t “need” anything. I watched the reviews, went on the site, loaded my cart and then walked away. Truthfully, I hated not impulse buying 😂 but I’m certain they’ll launch something in the future that’ll be perfect for me 🥰
I haven't been excited to buy makeup in a really long time, nor have I felt like I "needed" it since I have a pretty large collection for the average person, but I was for this brand. I bought on launch day only because I knew it would sell out that day. I only purchased Temper, even though I wanted all three shades, but I was "good" lol. I also wanted the shade I would wear most often, because these are so expensive, and one that was unique (Sam sold me on the "taupe-rose gold" description). I appreciate hearing your thoughts that we don't need these products if we already own things that are similar, even if they aren't _exactly_ the same. I don't own HFF but I do own some drugstore dupes. This is probably the most luxurious thing I own in my makeup collection (aside from some Natasha Denona products) and I am happy to support a smaller brand. :)
Thank you for acknowledging that this is a dupe of the Tom Ford! I haven’t heard anyone else say that, but it was the first thing I thought. Still love the product/concept though. I’m into the single shadow look these days.
I honestly dont know what I would do without this channel. I was thinking of buying these and ofcourse!!!!! Hannah reviewed them!!! I really dont trust anyone else's reviews because I know she is so wholeheartedly honest. Its just without a doubt my fabkrite channel ever in the makeup realm.
It's so cool that you posted this about 2 hours ago and Sam already commented! Eek! I've got defiance and the glow list on my wish list for sure. I don't have anything comparable besides a sampler for liquid higlighter (Pearlizer) from Senegence that is about a year old. Given that I know how that product performs I'd be interested to see how it stacks up against Sam's launch. I'm resistant you buy the full size of the pearlizer because it's so pricy. Until this launch I just had it in mind to keep getting sample size of the Pearlizer about once a year.
I’m so glad you bought the glow lust for review...our skin tones are incredibly similar (from foundation and concealer shades you’ve mentioned before)....going to watch through this video to see if the lightest shade is too dark because I also have concerns about that from looking at promo images.
I decided against purchasing during the launch since I am on a no buy except for three weeks spread out through the year. I think I will purchase a glow lust during my July buy week for my birthday but this eye look with ego has made me want to pull out some dark smoky colors and play with them for this coming week. Grungy eyes to start out February 🖤
These both look so great on you! I ordered the Glow Lust as my first makeup product of the year, I'm so excited. The undertones they offer are really interesting. Other products like this always lean either too icy/silvery or orange on me and Pyrite looks like the perfect neutral warm without being orangey.
We have a lot in common when comes to make up consumption. I love makeup and have a lot of it but it’s heavily curated. I was really interested in buying the glow lust when it came out but I already had the Hollywood flawless finish, I decided to hold off till I finished that. Year later I finally got my hands on this product and I’m in love. It creates this amazing glowy and blurring effect on my face. It also doesn’t make my foundation too oily just a perfect glow
Thank you for the side by side swatches of the Glow Lust - I thought it interesting that the Morganite shade is tagged as cool beige as it looked much warmer that the CT or Chanel products.
This was so helpful. I wanted ego mostly for the powder but was worried the cream would be too dark. Now I know I can get fairy acid instead (which I’ve almost bought before) and consider another smoke reflect color in the future. Thanks for this. Great job!
I’m a new sub, the thoroughness of this review is so immaculate! Thank you so much! I definitely felt the itch to buy this on launch day but as you pointed, I made the wiser choice of choosing to buy it as a replacement for my CT HFF because really, I’m not going to finish that product anytime soon 😂
I absolutely love your personality, video style, and your review. I have been thinking about creating a youtube channel and how you describe not wanting to promote consumerism is how I would want to do it as well. It's so important. I didn't think I could because I feel like reviewing means spending and having lots of products, which I don't want to that. I'm so happy to have found your channel! Looking forward to more 💛
SO EXCITED FOR THIS REVIEW!!I feel like you doing this will satiate the curiosity i feel about these products & this brand!! That way I can decide whether to buy them from a healthier mindset 💛✨ Thank you!
I have a full bottle of the CT HFF still so I didn't need the glow lust. CT HFF comes in a mini size now as well, which seems far more reasonable amd cost effective. I'll probably purchase the mini in the future, if I ever manage to run out. I picked up the grey shadow. Cool tones are my jam! If it works well for me, I may pick up the other colors in the future. Can't wait to see what Auric comes out with next.
Really appreciate the unbiased review & comparisons. Because at this point, we need to know if there are any other products we have that are similar enough that we don't need to buy something new, because it is new & like you said to not buy more of the same. I have the CT HFF in two colors and don't feel the need to buy the glow lust at all. The shadows were tempting but..... Not enough to spend $40 on an indie brand. I'm sure they are beautiful & luxe, but again there are soooo many glittery toppers that I have & love. The greeny topcoat is the only color I am intrigued with honestly. Not even the gray cream part. I will check out JD glow fairy dust for that! Thanks again! You really made me feel good about passing on these products! 🤍
As your skin tone twin I was sad to see the that color of the glow lust was so dark. I have the Hollywood flawless, but like you said, it’s still a bit dark but works when I just use small amount. But oh, that packaging. So lovely. I’ll probably try it once my HFF is done. Thanks for the thoughtful content and thorough comparisons. I love being able to enjoy makeup videos without my consumerism compulsion tendencies being triggered.
I placed my order 5 minutes after launch and it didn’t ship until friday haha 😅 I’m in Canada so I knew it would take a long time to get here but I was surprised that my order hadn’t even shipped till later. Now I’m jealous that yours was bought after mine and sent before
I love the idea of this brand. But right now, I have dupes in my own collection and no money to buy them. So I am living vicariously through you instead. Thanks, love ;)
I’m so glad this video was made as this answered all of my questions. I, too, am an extremely pale person and own the Hollywood Flawless Filter in shade 1. I know you didn’t label which Chanel Les Beiges shade you used, but I’m assuming it’s Pearly Glow? ....now all that being said, I totally bought the entire line. And I own the Tom Ford duo 😬. My excuse is that those products are over 2 years old and are technically expired. But you’re right, Defiance is almost the exact same shade, but the topper shade isn’t-the Tom Ford is more gold and the Auric topper is neutral champagne (which I prefer). My Charlotte Tilbury swatches next to Auric- I swear the Auric looks slightly deeper but on my face, the Charlotte one looks deeper. I still wish there was a lighter shade in the Auric line but I can use it the same way you can- so I hope they will take the suggestion and expand the shade range even more.
Same. When I was watching the video the other day comparing the the CT glowy goo vs the Channel glowy goo all I could think was "what about the auric glowy goo?"
Speaking of the shadow in the Tom Ford eye colour- you reminded me of its interesting formula. It's kind of stiff and sheer and sparkly... and I never thought of it before but I just compared it to the topper shadows that Nabla makes and they're so very similar! The same feeling when I touch it with my fingers, the same effect when swatchef and they're also the same pan size and have the same marking on top from pressing! Makes me wonder hehe... 😅
These are absolutely beautiful products and ego was the product that immediately grabbed me. However, your message about loving what you have inspired me for the first time ever to check myself before buying. I have almost exactly the same look in my collection by layering a really sticky nudestix pencil (I used cocoa) with my Marc jacobs seequins in “glam noir.” Thanks for saving me $40+ dollars but also continuing to inspire me to look within and experiment wi5 my own belongings first and foremost ❤️
As a Canadian I am disappointed that the currency is only available in USD and that shipping is only out of the states. Conversion rates suck and so does the chance of having to pay duties (even though the products are distributed by a Canadian Incorporation locate only a few hours from me). Also the chance of duties are higher since the Glow Lust in made in Italy. I hope this changes in the future (at least the currency). At least I wasn't tempted by anything in this launch. I may have tried the Glow Lust if it had come in lighter shade (or even a more neutral tone). I do love the brand's vision and aesthetic.
i'd rather buy this instead of the ct ff, but not now, as you say. i kind of want to reach a point where i only need a product like this and maybe some powder for my base, so i'm working on skincare, and i gotta finish up my base products. thanks for the vid!
TWO THINGS
1. when I filmed the "unboxing" footage, I had already opened the products and used them (you can tell by the fingerprints and slight messiness). I just put them back into the boxes to film the inner & outer packaging for that segment.
2. Joe is testing out a different camera lens and this was our first video with it. There were a few kinks (jumping focus, exposure) which will be worked out in time!
3. it's pronounced ore-ick
The lens looks great!!
It’s ok, the dyslexic in me understands seeing a word and saying it differently then how it’s supposed to be pronounced 😂
Girl the dew/ glow on your face is incredible. I can see all the juicyness with the new lense!!!
Like the vacuum. That was the first thing I thought of when I heard the name. My grandfather used to work for Oreck so it’s in my brain
Yes the new camera quality is gorgeous!

Loved the sendoff that sometimes not buying makeup is self care

An excellent drug store dupe that’s been around forever is the Lumi Glowtion. I have been using it for years and never tire of it! It gives the same effect. I’m interested in picking up the Auric, so maybe I’ll try that after I finish my Lumi 😊
Thank you!! I'm curious about this type of product, but my budget is definitely drugstore. I appreciate the recommendation! 😊🌻
@@BelleStreetBoyz totally. Most days I use it alone. But it’s great underneath foundation or mixed in!
This was an absolute joy to watch! Thank you for the glowing review 😉 but done so in a way to not make the viewer feel pressured to purchase.
My curiosity is sated now, thank for being the guinea pig for us pale girls :)
hell yes!!! as soon as i saw sam's announcement i thought of you and hoped you'd try the products out :)
im into this camera angle, the eye level camera and faded background is a refreshing new look i prefer this
Loved your thorough review! I especially loved it since I am fair too. I have been going back and forth on a shade and whether to purchase.
To echo previous comments, LOVING the video quality, and I am not usually one to notice! Go Hannah and Joe! Thank you for the review as well, I appreciate the in-depth review of the tones of the products in addition to everything else! :)
Joe has been amazing
this is the first video of yours i’ve seen and the first makeup video i’ve watched in ages, and i have to say i love your personal outlook on consumerism and what you bring into your life. i feel the same way about losing interest in your possessions and i think the high speed nature of the beauty scene has kind of made me fall out of love with makeup. for the first time in a while i feel like buying something different!
Honestly, the bottle looks more luxe than the CT one when you hold them side by side.
Truthfully, I hated not impulse buying 😂 but I’m certain they’ll launch something in the future that’ll be perfect for me 🥰
Even the Chanel bottle looks cheap next to the supremely beautiful Auric packaging 👌
wow this quality is amazing! love the look of the new lens
Thank you for acknowledging that this is a dupe of the Tom Ford! I haven’t heard anyone else say that, but it was the first thing I thought. Still love the product/concept though. I’m into the single shadow look these days.
I don't normally like lectures, but you did that in such a caring and sincere way.
Brava.
The review we were all waiting for!!
🙌🏼💕
Thanks Hannah!
Thrilled that you are reviewing this! I've being dying to know what it's like on very pale skin.
Wow, both products seem really beautiful. Definitely intrigued now
I couldn't love the title of this video more
I absolutely love your personality, video style, and your review.
That way I can decide whether to buy them from a healthier mindset 💛✨
Thank you!
Hannah, I hope you consider getting the new Morganite shade, it's much lighter and much more neutral, precisely as you wanted
Your videos are always so professionally done. Like, content aside, your lighting, filming, editing, etc is phenomenal.
Lighting is 10/10, congrats to Joe?
Omg this is the best review I have ever watchedddd so thorough, thank you 🙏
When your videos upload and appear to me, it means it’s my time to relax and lounge. Thanks!
Love the lighting and whole digital vibe that you/Joe did in this video.
Am so happy you got these! When I saw the release I thought these products seemed right up your alley!
Thank you for taking one for the team for us pale gals. I had the same concerns and I was hoping you would do a self sponsored review on this! 😁
Excited to see everything you bought with your budget in January!
I'm really loving your titles this year!
Hannah!!!!!!! the video quality is so different. It’s so much more clear. Did you get a new camera?!
it's just a different lens! Joe keeps trying new things, he can't be stopped
The quality is like next level- I noticed it immediately. Yasss Joe bringing us the best quality, keep it up!!
@@HannahLouisePoston I just saw your comment above! It’s amazing! I see you so clearly. It’s insane.
@@HannahLouisePoston I agree totally! The quality is fantastic 😊
I placed my order 5 minutes after launch and it didn’t ship until friday haha 😅 I’m in Canada so I knew it would take a long time to get here but I was surprised that my order hadn’t even shipped till later.
Now I’m jealous that yours was bought after mine and sent before
This is the most in depth review I’ve ever seen. Makes me want to “fund” your review budget for products I really want reviewed 🤣
I live in South Dakota and also received my package on Friday, so the shipping is just FAST!
Omg I'm so excited! When I saw the launch I thought of you and was hoping for this video. 😍
I understand it from a business perspective but as a Canadian I join in your frustration.
You are the master of reviews. Thank you!
The picture quality is great here! Great stuff
WOW. VIDEO QUALITY. DAMNNN. OMG 😍
I would love to buy the eyeshadow; but I don’t need it now. Maybe in the future. Thanks for this review.
i'd rather buy this instead of the ct ff, but not now, as you say. i kind of want to reach a point where i only need a product like this and maybe some powder for my base, so i'm working on skincare, and i gotta finish up my base products. thanks for the vid!
