The hamburger hotdog conversation is driving me insane. I don’t think any of these freaks are correct. I think they’re all wrong.
yea 100% they are wrong lmao
the hamburger hotdog thing refers to how you fold a paper lol. top to bottom so the paper is short and thick like a hamburger, side to side so the fold is long like a hotdog bun, idk why they started using that to measure x and y axis lol
absolutely lost my mind when they said you eat a hotdog top to bottom
youre right its eaten on the z axis which is neither vertical or horizontal, its depth
Will has since said that he realizes how insane he sounded
cant wait to watch this in 30 years and say "they just dont make podcasts like they used to"
sammie and caroline having a "fight" was so fucking funny holy shit thats gotta be a episode where the game is will is a marriage counselor and has to help caroline and sammie fix their Mariiage
Will was right. A Burger is horizontal and a hotdog is LONGITUDINAL when you have 3 axis you have horizontal, vertical, and LONGITUDINAL
I really feel for Wills “I’m not good with words” moment because I’ve been there. Voicing that can feel very limiting and depressing.
Just being surrounded by people who articulate themselves so well - like Caroline and Sammie - it can be hard not to constantly compare yourself to them.
It gets better though bro! You learn to be both more confident in your quietness and more confident in speaking. Not sure if he’ll read this but writing out my thoughts, reading aloud, and recording myself talking to myself and playing it back has helped tremendously. not to mention, we all have our own strengths and it’s okay if yours differ from those around you 💜
This is so backhanded lmao
Real bro
Ok so for audio listeners
This episode was just me yelling at the screen as if I was watching Dora
wills constant inability to do intros is one of my favorite things 😭💕
Its wild to hear sammie pose alternatives to caroline as she goes "mm...no i dont think so" a million times until he stops talking lol
Glad to see Sammie escaped the TV dimension safety
8:19 Will's accusatory "Oh you don't believe in aliens" hahahaha
To the point caroline was making about time periods from the 90s onward feel homogenous; i read a tumblr post one time attributing this to the fact that marketing in that era was more seasonal due to it being tied to magazine releases (monthly or a couple times a year) compared to the information age where marketing is now constant and unending and indistinct
Caroline's soul is a European philosopher from the 1800s that offed themselves before publishing any of their works
I was like ayy new hypothetical nonsense, and then blam! Sammies sha boing boing is all up in my face!
Sammie always reminds me that he is the smartest one. Caroline proved she’s the pseudo-intellectual here. And Will is there
That key and peele song was so good 😭
I only remember teachers using hamburger and hotdog to describe how we should fold a piece of paper
I love when will tries to explain something i feel that sm, there's been times where i tired to explain the plot of a movie and i gave up after 30 seconds and 14 ums.
1:00:07 whoooa that's actualy a good point, i think that's a product of the internet. Because things kind of stick around more with the internet. Prior to that if you wanted to refer to history, you had to deliberately and physically go look at books and videos, you couldn't just casually stumble upon some video or information from like a decade ago.
About the music sounding different in the 40s to 80s, a very clear distinction is the recording technology. There's only so much that you can evolve into from what we had in 2000s (talking about the mics and stuff), but in the 40s, the mics were made from rocks and shit.
And 90s to 2010(s?), the genres, popular and unpopular, were VASTLY different but the production quality, merely.
Todays music is MKUltra Monarch Mind Control. Im being serious.
Im not sure when it first started but I know that the entire, literally the entire 60's music drug/psychedelic counter culture was an engineered mind control operation by the CIA and the Military Industrial & Intelligence Complex, also involving the Tavistock Institute in the UK which is why there was a simultaneous hippy counter culture happening there and the music fueling it.
The Beatles were a product of Tavistock and a vehicle for world wide mind control.
Contrary to what is believed and what they're praised for, The Beatles didn't write their own music.
Hence why they never and don't own any of their music, and why Michael Jackson was able to purchase The Beatles entire music catalogue. And so Michael Jacksons estate receives the royalties for their music.
Laurel Canyon was the hub in the US for the engineering of artists and bands, and the whole Haight Ashbury scene was them.
You would find it difficult to find any artist or singer of a group from that era that didn't come from a military family. Quite the coincidence.
The CIA director that was in charge of Project: MKUltra and its 149 sub projects, that committed the most diabolical and inhumane mind control experiments on the public and on patients without their consent or knowledge- Sidney Gottlieb, inadvertently was responsible for the psychedelic drug side counter culture. From the fact that in 1953 the CIA purchased the entire worlds supply of LSD at the cost of US$240,000 (over 3 million USD in todays currency).
They used the touring schedule of the Grateful Dead following them across the country giving out LSD in the parking lot of the concerts.
So the level of mind control sophistication in todays music is very, very advanced.
Just look at the queen of mind control herself Taylor Swift. Look how absolutely insane her Swifties are.
Its not a coincidence that so many people at her recent Era's tour were coming away from the concerts having literally zero memory of ever being there, that was so prolific and unexplainable a new condition had to be named to explain for the phenomena- 'Post Concert Amnesia'.
Because giving it a name just so there can be an explanation for it of course somehow makes it ok..
even when it doesn't explain anything aside from it can happen..
@@JoshPhoenix11 I knew the people who listened to this shit were a little fucked up but this is a whole other level. I don't care if ur trolling, either way this is crazy
@@beepboop3928 Suit yourself, but naive ignorance is a normal part of Human awareness, willful ignorance on the other hand is inexcusable.
@@JoshPhoenix11i can excuse stupidity, but i can't excuse stupidity pretending to be smart. The beatles were published by northern songs, which was later bought by atv which was later bought by mj. It doesn't even make sense, half baked conspiracy nonsense
how am i rolling over the hotdog hamburger fold section, i can’t breathe 😂
will was completely right about the burger and hot dog he just could not explain it
I came here to say that I am an audio only listener. I am expecting my firm handshake by Christmas.
When I speak to anyone even 5 years younger than me, they grew up in a whole different generation. We tend to define by decades but there's tons of bleeding over. The early years always feel like the previous decade, something comes along in the middle that feels defining, and that carries on the feeling of that decade. 98-2002 are practically the same. 2003-2006 feels like a middle period of the connectivity of tech starting to come around but not totally there (myspace, kids are starting to have flip phones). 2007-2010 (UA-cam and Facebook blowing up, smart phones, netflix), 2011-2015 feels defined, 2016-2019, and then you have the pandemic...
the domestic argument hahaha
1:09:22
NAH why r yall gaslighting Will like this about the hotdog, you put a hotdog in the hotdog bun horizontally. What? Will you gotta fight back 💀
45:29 Will should have held strong, that's legit the best Onion video
Sammie and Will's harmony was so fucking good. All three of you should do an exclusively acappella-centric episode.
I love the three of you so much this podcast is hilarious!!!
1:03 hahahaha and then Sammies just not saying anything
I think it speaks volumes that they mistook Dukakis for Quayle, who was actually HW's VP.
That Napster question was misleading lol
I don’t like how Sammy from the screen on the back looks deep into my eyes like he is about to kill me
I’m an audio listener on Spotify and i genuinely had to hop on this video to fully understand which is horizontal and vertical
the key and peele skit 😭😭😭
"it's when your goto sleep" will forever be ingrained in my brain now
Think of a hotdog as 1 dimensional dot and you eat it from one end to the other. Think of a hamburger as a 1 dimensional line and you can eat it from the center and to the side. It's both horizontal just on a different axis like Caroline says.
I agree with what Caroline said about music @ 1:02:20 . Music from any decade prior to the 2010s had a distinct sound (i.e. the 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s or 2000's)
huh ?? that is not what shes arguing, shes saying before the 90s each decade had a distinct sound, not before the 2010s.
Ok I’ll say that I agree to an extent.
it was an experience of downloading a pirated single mp3 file that took a minute at least. Napster is not the same as a streaming service but the thought of napster being like a proto-streaming service is kind of accurate, the program itself was borderline legal but the music industry did not like napster. this was when CDs were the way they wanted us to access music.
Will is my second favorite person ever

that isn’t even original
This is diabolical. The hot dog/hamburger fold refers to the BUN. You wouldn't fit a hamburger into a longer bun and you wouldn't fit a hot dog into a shorter bun.
I get what Caroline was saying about the 90s-2010s because its how I view history and I do think that when us 20 year olds hit our 30s and 40s it will conceptualize in our brains like the shift between the 60s to 80s looked like
OTTAWA MENTIONEDDDDDDDD🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻😭😭😭😭😭😭🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
loved yapping caroline lessgo
If the analogy was hamburgers and bananas it would be more accurate
hot dogged was horizontal becasue thats what the paper looked like when folded and the other way was chubby like burger ion what yall are yapping about
chubby like burger ong fr
30:48 did they freestyle an argument?
carolines rant about 90s-2010s culture actually pmo shes like so dead wrong
bpest podnsast if all tome!!
Sammy is such a silly guy *cartoon noises
does anyone know how they did that effect for the title card where all their faces are blending together?
He’s talking about how you hold the hot dog as in you hold it flat (horizontal) (--). So you eat the hotdog HOLDING it flat not vertical (|) because things would fall out of it. Both groups are right but are arguing two different things lol. I think…
No, 1973 is DSOTM. 72 is damn Watergate 😭
NEW MEXICO MENTIONED RAHHHHH
1:40 klan merch lmaooo
Will is right, hotdog is horizontal hamburger vertical💀💀
The decades you live through are always going to feel similar and indistinct compared to ones you didn't because you experienced all 3650 days of them instead of just getting the distilled version that popular culture and subsequent media decided defined them. Parents experience the same thing with their kids. Acquaintances that don't see them very often will tell exclaim about how much they've grown but as a parent it's hard to see since you see them every day. The minutiae of everyday life hides how much has actually changed over the long run.
how can these mfs who are the same age as me know so little its insane
every time she says 2003 hurts a little

22:14 I haven’t semen either caroline 😔
Omg i never realized they the same age as me lmao
3:23 is uncalled for :(
Thx Fukayama you were probably right
Hi Caroline you referenced Foucault and Heidegger this episode. Will you marry me?
I feel so weird watching people the same age as me lol
i would like to start off by saying i love this podcast lol but we eat almost everything horizontally we eat both hot dog and hamburger horizontally and it’s not based off of how we eat the foods lmaoo think of it as a rectangle the longest sides being length and the shortest side being width so hot dog: length to length (🤨 stop) and hamburger:width to width if that makes sense also the only thing we intake vertically is i think liquid through straws and if our heads are horizontal (think looking down at the floor) also im not claiming this as facts but just how i think of things 👩🏾🍳
also edit lol but i do agree on the standpoint that yes hotdog is vertical and hamburger is horizontal obvi but the explanation for why or how yall explained it was so silly
ALSO i’m not claiming we don’t that you can’t eat vertically im claiming that in order to technically eat something vertically your head can’t be vertical it has to be horizontal (once again think looking at the ground) and the food has to be vertical (think holding a hot dog up and down and eating it like that 😃)
guys its not that fucking deep. if you fold a piece of printer paper so the long sides match up, that's a hot dog because it looks like a fucking hot dog. fold it the other way and it looks more like a hamburger than a hot dog. its literally just about the aspect ratio like will said. am I missing something or are they just stupid lmao. its not about how you eat it at all. the words "vertical" and "horizontal" dont even need to be used and they just complicate it anyways. I genuinely feel like nothing is real and my world is falling apart what is happening. okay im just gonna tell myself they are all wrong so I dont actually go insane.
tiger woods hit someone with his car fr
i can't believe they didn't know princess di passed in '97.....
the best and the worst game will made @ the same time
Caroline said mfers stopped “evolving after the 90s”? Huh? 2017 was a totally different era from 2023 while like 1987 and 1993 are like just Reagan and Clinton years
merry chichusma
Who didn’t want to be on Disney channel as a kid 🥲
WILL GET AN EDUCATION
Will’s reasoning for hotdog vs hamburger, though they are foods, is closely related to his ‘eat everything’ attitude, so the number one question tuning through his mind at all times is ‘how do I eat this?’ so I see what he’s saying. I will say, I have often asked teachers for clarification ,like, I’d just straight up ask ‘along which axis’ cause the example was so fucking nonsensical anyway. Glad such a brain dead part of the education system found its forever home.
Why watch Jesse waters when I’ve got my hypothetical nonsense
tiger woods won his first pga tournament in 1996???????????????????????
I mean if you're living through a time period, like a span of 20/30 years, it's all gonna blur together. You won't notice differences as much compared to someone looking back 30 years later, analyzing and comparing culture and events. There was also so much more history being made during those times. so many things were happening for the first time. for example, the jump from impressionism to dadaism following after ww1, there hadn't been any event like it, so obviously anything created as a result/reaction of it would be revolutionary and unlike anything before. That's not to say none of the events happening now, or within the past 30 years, aren't important or historical, but it's almost like things have become stagnant, or lost its novelty. Idk how to explain. In the future, we'll look back retrospectively and be able to notice subtle changes. and to Carolines point about music, there have been many new genres created within the past 20 years, bedroom pop, hyper pop, trap, edm. I think it feels less revolutionary since in the past, there weren't as many different genres popular concurrently, like we do now. I mean the jump between ragtime to rock in roll is extreme, but comparing indie folk to glitch core would also be extreme an extreme change. but I think because there is just so much more music that exists, so many more genres and sub genres, more access to worldwide music, the novelty of the extreme differences is lost. look back at run dmc and Aerosmith's collar with walk this way, in the 80s, this was HUGE. it was one of the first times two different genres and cultures merged and had extreme success. It's hard to have "firsts" now as it's been done before. So it's not to say that culture and history isn't as landmark and important as it once was, its just harder to notice it.
Caroline’s “woman” voice is very uncanny
