Erkenci Kus (English title: Early Bird) is a Turkish-made romantic comedy series by Gold Film.
Sanem (Demet Özdemir) is a girl who works in her father's grocery store and is loved by everyone. But her family tells her that she will marry if she can't find a job. Sanem starts working in an advertising agency to avoid getting married. But she doesn't know what awaits her in her new job. The manager of his company is the handsome, intelligent and cultured Can (Can Yaman). Since Sanem always manages to get into trouble, this situation attracts Can's attention and a great love story begins.

Sanem's mistake was trusting Yighit more than her fiancé.

Sadly, he was a great manipulator. She wouldn't be the first person to fall for it. She didn't see the issues, like a lot of people didn't.
Unfortunately, she didn't realize it.
But also blaming Can for not talking to her. Can did open up to her about his childhood and many other feelings but she didn’t understand those feelings. For example, she wanted him not to run from his mother, but Huma caused him so much harm that it would have been better to not have her in his life. She’s a toxic mother. Sanem wanted to force that relationship between them.
I thought Sanem was an intelligent woman but I was proven wrong. She has no brains lacking in mental capacity
I personally like this separation between Can and Senam. It might be what they needed after all the drama they went though. In order to reflect on themselves individually and come back together with their growths. 😍

Huma Hanim actually caused the fall of the Fikra Harika firm. What was she thinking would happen after conniving with Yighit to make sure Can leaves? She didnt foresee Emre not being abe to run the firm alone. She didnt foresee Sanem going literally crazy, causing everyone to concentrate on her recovery and forget all about the firm. And then she turns back and blames Sanem for everything. What a toxic woman. It's like Can is her scapegoat child and she is determined that he shall never experience happiness and love in this world. If Can was wise, he would take his fate by force, just like Emre did, and stop letting his mom interfere.

She willing destroyed Can and Sanem but it was out of jeslousy. She is emotional void of feeling love for anyone but herself. It is about her trauma, her loss, her suffering and her self centered attitude fosters itself in the belief that she can't let her son suffer what she has been through.
@@elizabethpotter3964 she needs to check herself into a mental institution unfortunately, it’s too late. The damage has already been done. I’ve looked at this series many times to try to understand why she was never punished or held account for her sins I’m yet to find the reason.
@@catcaa9027helps - The fact that Can's mother was never punished is the fault of the writers. I don’t think a mental institution would help.....for me personally I would loved to have seen her actions brought to light and Emre and Can turn their backs on her permanently.

I live in Australia and would love to get a copy of her book in English, I presume it's only part of the love story in the show, it's like everything was developed around their love story,I have seen this series three times now and it still moves me, when his eyes fill with tears my heart breaks for him,the tough guy melts me.

It’s unbearable to see how much Sanem’s parents interfere. They are just as guilty for Sanem’s depression as much as Ms. Huma is. It’s sad to watch. It’s one thing to love your children, but to be so intrusive is detrimental.

What I was hoping for, Huma confessed to everyone especially to Sanem’s parents that she and Yight plans to say that Yight wouldn’t walk again, also for everyone knows that Can didn’t burnt Sanem’s book. Instead of they gone without paying the consequences of their devious behaviour, knowing they ruin to people lives drastically.

I wish they would fix some of the translations. Can can't have said "If you really trusted me you wouldn't have left," for example. It must be "If you really trusted me *I* wouldn't have left." There are a lot of examples like that since episode 101 where one word, usually a pronoun, completely changes the sentence and must be confusing for some people, especially those who are watching who do not speak English as their first language.

agreed, depression is not just crying episodes, often it also manifest by periods of lack of emotional response (you sort of become numbed ), which is what Sanem is showing here.
@28:21 when Sanem says you didn't trust me either, I am screaming at my screen. Why would he? You kept lying and lying and lying to him over and over again. How could he trust you? What did you build with him for him to know that you wouldn't harbor a lie and then to maintain that lie reject living a life with him, when you declined his proposal. Come on Sanem, even you (the writers) cannot be this dense manufacturing a one-sided conflict with no accountability for Sanem.

If Can couldn't truly forgive Sanem, he should have ended the relationship. Love won't survive built on a foundation of doubt and resentment.
The scene on the pier is painful, especially 26:56 - the moment Can realises the extent to which Yighit has manipulated Sanem:
pretending to be impaired to make her feel guilty; making all the decisions related to her writing; drugging her with medicine; he´s likely also behind Denise brainwashing her into believing that Can is to be hated and he´s likely behind Sanem´s creams being sold online at a high price without her knowing.
Denise was keeping JJ away from Senam because he kept talking about Can all the time. Bulut was smarter, gave benefit of doubt.
I never thought about Yighit's role in keeping her medicated. And the therapist is shit by any standards. Just total shit. I don't know any therapist who lives with their clients in that kind of a dual relationship. That is against all therapist ethics and in most places will cost their license. But yes the therapist and Bulut are the only two people who seem to have some positive perception of Yighit. And the storyline makes so little sense that Sanem would ignore her best friend and her fiance to believe Yighit during the notebook burning when she had barely known Yighit and brought him to Can's private sanctuary. Sanem has done so much shit to Can and barely understood the depth of her own damage. I would have loved the writers to have fleshed it out instead of showing us a traumatized Sanem who had a ton of support around her while Can was lonely, driving himself broken with guilt and shame.

He couldn’t handle not being trusted by Sanem and in desperation left as he felt incompetent. He felt he was losing it all!!! I love this series, I only wish they would have exposed to what extent Yighit manipulated Sanem. Can game back feeling such a heavy weight bcuz of the agency, leaving Sanem, his brother and the fight with Yighit. This was sooooo much for him!! 😢😢 But all people think about is Sanem was in therapy. Can would have never said, “I told you so” but Yighit being exposed would have shown everyone that Can was also wrongly blamed.
@@thepoperah29 Denise wasn’t a real therapist. She says she met Senam at the clinic and then she came to live with her at the farm. I’m sure her and Bulut were patients that Senam befriended.
@@user-td6om1bs6e later in an episode talking to Laila she said she was a therapist. I think the writers got contradictory details about Denise. Either way even as a friend she was useless. When Sanem was showing her the pictures Can took and how her eyes lit up with the fullness of who she is that she shut down for a year, Denise just packs up the pictures and says how pretty she looks and that they will talk about how pretty she looks later. Even when Can and Sanem got together she was surprised that it even happened. Even though she knew Yighit was not someone Sanem loved she was still supporting Yighit’s proposal. If she was a friend, she’d know Sanem’s heart like CeyCey and Darin did.
Mrs Huma is one of the main reasons for Can's demise. She used so many people to destroy Can..What kind of a mother is she?? She's still not satisfied yet.

Aziz has a great 6th sense. He knew ppl like Aylin, Huma & Yighit. I hope he lends his 6th sense to Sanem.

The only true loving parent Azziz and Meribah. The other 3 are so toxic and overbearing. I have no sympathy for Sanem being naive when her mother and JJ both told her Yight was a creep and not good. Demanding trust from Can that she did receive but never earned she destroyed him and took his love and vulnerability for granted. He was so open and pure with her and she forces him to lie because of the parents, neighbors etc. Never admitted to any of her faults that caused such a sad separation and now he's taking the full blame for her institution. Made a mistake and called 10 minutes after he left umm no she's only made non stop mistakes with him and he stayed and forgave her numerous times. To push him to the point of accusing him of burning her book then demanding proof by stating a line from it the audacity. She liked the games too much and attention from Can being around Yight. I'm just happy Can is happy eventually but he never deserved any of this drama.
Come to think of it, it's true, Can wanted to leave a number of times, but stayed - when he gave her the farewell gift, but he tore up his plane ticket, after the Fabri/perfume debacle/Balkans, he again stayed.
Sanem left, actually. She resigned after Fabri's surprise party and Can chased after her to come back.
This what happens when you've watched for the umpteenth time hahaha. You get to see the little details and loopholes.😅

Writers have dragged this out too much and Sanum is being a pain
Had Sanem really loved Can she wouldve never chose to believe another man especially her boss over her fiance. She already knew can jj and her mum didnt like yigit an still she continued to trust him which drove her and Can further apart. Cans heart was slowly breaking with all of yigits wrong doings the constant interuptions between can and sanem from yigit. the note in the book the eye stares at sanem .
..sanem not believing Can at the end was the final sword to his heart. She took cans arch enemy to there hut when she knew how sentimental that hut an perfume was to Can Thats how Can killed himself because at that point he was empty he lost the one thing he had fully comitted to and loved. Drives me crazy she forgot all her lies she hid from him and when she constantly told him to leave because she couldnt tell the truth. He stayed. She forgot that.
@ A.L K I was beginning to think I was watching a different show from everyone else. Although Can is known to up and leave at the drop of a hat, this man has always stayed. Sanem has been the one leaving every time. She left when she couldn’t tell him the truth. She left after the truth came out and Fabrio threw her a party. Then again after Can found out that she gave her perfume to Fabrio. Can May have said he is leaving but every time he couldn’t, he stayed. When he left after the book was burnt, Sanem clearly made it known that she didn’t believe Yigit did it. If that’s not dagger in the heart of Can, I don’t know what is. He felt defeated and in situations like that, there is only one option, distance yourself before you loose yourself. Don’t get me wrong, the love he felt caused him to be unhinged, reason why he is so temperamental and angry when he feels it is threaten. But his anger is always as a result of something, never just because. Also, Sanem was more obsess with Ceyda, than Can is of Yigit but he never took Ceyda’s side.

Sanem told him to leave following everything this comment said too and he did as she asked, now she is upset at the consequences of her actions. Sanem as a character lacks true accountability and is always the victim in her mind… it is infuriating to see. Not once did she take ownership that she told him to leave or apologize for not believing him or for asking him to leave.

Sanem’s depression and her act of throwing the note in a bottle into the sea has a couple of connections: Sanem’s depression, seems reminiscent of her story of the Bride Rock and how the princess waited for years for the return of her lover, until she turned into a rock. Sanem’s condition and the meds she must take have tempered her personality drastically. Under the influence of these meds, Sanem has lost her vivacity and energy and appears mostly emotionless. only thing that make me mad in all of this it's the fact that the behavior or Huma and Melvkibe is the reasons why Sabem got cold feet about the mariage and they never admit that they are responsible for a big part of what happen to Can and Sanem i understand that Sanem mom is mad at Can bc she saw her daughter being heartbroken by Can leaving her after a traumatic event Ygit "accident" and her story (journal) with Can being turn into ashes and having to go to a hospital for her health etc.. but she's also to blame for her behavior toward Huma bc that's the reason why they pospone the wedding .. bc their family didn't get along ..
Okay I understand all about family and their love for their daughter. But this family is extra meddling and created a shit load of problems for Can and Sanem. I wish the writers gave them a narrative arc where they realized their own contributions to their daughter's suffering. They irritate the shit out of me.
Coming from a very close family myself, I can understand Sanem's desire to try and make everyone happy, but it gets to the point where you realize it's not possible. Sometimes, for the sake of your happiness and the survival of your relationship, you have to make a tough decision. Sanem should have put Can first and married him without family''s approval. (My husband and I ended up at City Hall with just my sister and brother-in-law as witnesses)

The translation is a little unclear ... did he say that he told Huma he DID cheat, basically just to shut her up because she was nagging him assuming he did? That was a bad call, if that's what he did, because it really did mess Huma up, and probably contributed to her being the way she is.
