Most days driving home from work I pass through a series of English villages old fashioned gates and grouse, thatched cottages and pubs and hedgerows intensely green like a never ending Beatrix Potter garden in the sunshine. I cannot tell you how beautiful it is.
I totally agree with you. What I have found since becoming disabled is suddenly you realise so many places you went for free are not accessible. Our local park for example. I can still go there but not around the lake and to the bird hides( they have put steps). I miss just going for a walk and just soaking it all in.
Despite what I have said there are places/ groups to join either for free or a very small cost ( £1 every few weeks to cover coffee).
Enchanting. 🐇
A daily vacation within itself!
“I make myself rich by making my wants few.” ― Henry David Thoreau
But then when one is rich, should enjoy more experiences they couldn't before. If that's not possible, then one isn't rich yet.
I am disabled now and no longer able to go for walks. That was always my entertainment. It was boring to many when I would tell them that was my thing I loved to do. I felt awesome when I walked. It made me so happy to be outside winter, spring,, summer and fall I used to walk at least 3 miles a day. Many times 6 miles a day was what I would try for. I would walk on my lunch break at work. We only got 1 break a day cause I worked at a gastro clinic/endoscopy center so I was with patients all day so we all got a 45 minute break a day and I would walk for 30 minutes and sit down and eat for 15. Then I would go to a lake after work that was a mile and 1/2 around and there was hills and lots of nature. It smelled so good all the time. I would usually walk around 2 times but more on the weekends. If I miss anything it's that. I can't afford to get one of those mobility scooters. I always thought insurance paid for those or helped pay for them and they don't. I have a 401k that I will get when I turn 65 but I am only 54 right now. I have a savings for emergences and a scooter isn't an emergency. I keep looking on FB marketplace to see if any used ones in good shape are a decent price but many used ones just look awful and they still want $5oo for them. Walking would relieve all my stress from patients and some times coworkers. So by the time I got home my head was clear and I was happy. I worked very physical jobs for the majority of my life and that's what did my back and body in. I had back surgery and things didn't go as planned. Don't ever take life for granted because it really can change in an instant.
Here is an oddball- I found natural clay deposits on my wooded lot...Spent the winter making pots, learned to sculpt. Learned it all on UA-cam and I spent virtually nothing, and I learned everything from refining the clay, to pottery making and sculpting. Still having a blast- and I made useable earthenware and sculptures from mud and fire. Woohoo!!! :)
Hey!!! Woo Hoo is what I say! 😄 Sounds like fun.
Great frugal fun! Great side gig with free supply of clay. 🙂
Very creative of you. I love it! I can identify with that spirit. Right now I'm trying to manage a make shift bench press for my workouts. No way am I going to buy one. I just might use the apartment stairs at an ungodly hour 😁
Jason this is so COOL! I love it!
I can’t stop watching your videos Ma’am!
That man is richest whose pleasures are cheapest. - Henry David Thoreau
If you don’t have a dog but like to walk, I suggest going to a shelter to volunteer and walk a dog. Also, if you are not able to afford a pet, consider fostering one. Usually expenses are paid.
I have a group of friends( we are in our 50’s), several of us have a net worth over a million, we still sit around Bon fires on the weekend playing corn hole. I think some would be shocked to learn our net worth because we have very simple pleasures.
I enjoy bird watching at different locations in my area. Also creative writing, drawing, reading, inviting a friend to have tea and cookies using fancy china, free concerts, library or church book clubs....endless options. I appreciate your example.
@@karlabritfeld7104 Not all at once, LOL! But at different times and seasons I have done those things.
I used to say, “I think I’ll go to Target to see what they have.” Now I’ve gotten into wildflowers and birding, and I say, “I think I’ll go to the woods and see what they have.” It’s spring wildflower season here in the Chicago area, and there is an explosion of color on the forest floor. Free entertainment. 🌸
Some other great FREE entertainment ideas: 1) many towns have free outdoor concerts and movies at the community park in the summer. 2) state parks offer free educational programs, guided hikes, etc. 3) volunteer opportunities can be super fun and many times volunteers are provided with free coffee, snacks, lunch, etc. Volunteer with habitat for humanity building houses, or for a local highway or park cleanup, or for the summer lunch program for inner city kids. Help stock cans at the local food bank. You’ll make friends with other service-oriented people and have a great time, not to mention feel good about doing something positive for the community. In the last year I’ve taken a maple-sugaring class, a guided owl-spotting hike, and a moonlight kayaking trip at the local state park; attended several concerts and movies at the community park; and as for volunteering I’ve learned so many new skills, made friends, and had the satisfaction of knowing I left something better than I found it.
My daughter was renting a large house on ten acres at the edge of her town so not a long drive. They knew some local bands and one of them played for free except for transportation cost(about &100.00. The dinner was catered in their yard and was paid for by others. It was still cost effective but allowed everyone a nice meal without the cleanup. The band was great and people danced in a large grass area surrounded by tables. The gifts were opened during the evening as the band played. They went on a 3 day 2 night honeymoon at a nice place about an hour out of their town. This was gifted to them. The whole thing cost about $1000.00 in 2012. All of this was in an area covered with Douglas fir trees so there was no shortage of natural beauty. It was also summer.
Imagination and common sense will help you.

Just a reminder that milk has carbohydrates in the form of sugar whereas heavy whipping cream does not.
Also, I very much enjoy your videos PP Thanks so much!
Wow! So happy to find you! I’m not alone to have this philosophy of life. Thank you for the inspiration and ideas. 🙏🇨🇦✨
@@karlabritfeld7104 thank you ! But, some people need to watch this video, lol ! 😁
@@karlabritfeld7104 I am Canadian and I am not so sure about that lol. Canadians are also very driven by consumerism....bigger homes, $100, 000 vehicles are now not an uncommon thing, going on expensive vacations at least once per year. I live very similar to PP and I do not fit in with our culture, I am always the quiet walllower who is just content to read a book in my older, small (but paid off!) home and live a simple life lol =)
My husband and I live in Iowa and our bills goes as this, 438 mortgage, 272 for electric and gas, 109 water and trash, 91 car insurance, 200 groceries, 75 gasoline, 90for our two smartphones. We have a TV antenna on our house for free channels and get about 30 channels. We have 401k, stock and IRA where we bank at. We can care for our dog and cat.
Geocaching is free and takes you to some interesting places!
At our county parks, parking is free free for 65+. Also, the local library lets you check out city/county park visitor passes for two weeks. We like to add some variety when walking our dog.
Love your videos
We gave up cable and have antenna and get 45 channels and internet for computers and we saved ?$200 dollars a month.
We bought Roku and it is great
So true about being overwhelmed by the amount of content on tv. Such a change to the two channels on offer when I was a kid!
I had 4 channels. ABC, NBC, CBS and KOFY. Woot Woot, remember KOFY? K-O-F-Y...TV 20!
I don't relate to how most people spend money either. That's one of the reasons I really enjoy your videos. Free entertainment is so much more fun and less stressful to me. Thank you for your videos.
I keep everything simple low coast
Anything related to the coast is expensive.
great vid. would like the 5 movie recommendations. I find nature calming and relaxing. If a person cannot get outdoors, lots of easy exercise videos for free.
Heavy cream has zero carbs and is so good in coffee. ❤❤
My late husband and our 2 sons would go to a wildlife preserve where we would bring sunflower seeds for the birds and have all sorts of birds come to our hands , perch and eat the seeds ! Free parking free trails minus cost of bird feed! Well worth it ! My sons now grown take their family and or friends as well ! ☺️
We have NOT had a TV for over 15 years…….never have missed it! ( no, I do not watch TV on the computer)
My Aunt is the same way. She has never owned one. I like TV. It’s my cup of tea.
If I need to “treasure hunt” ie shop then I just go to good will where I can do little damage. There is nothing I really need and even if I buy nothing I still had fun.
I bought your book and it is awesome! Short and sweet! Love your videos! 👏🌟👍
I really enjoy your videos. :) Thank you, Prepper Princess. I don't pay for any TV channels either--same as you, bought a Roku a few years ago. You are inspiring me to try to save more money! And get back out in nature, which I haven't done in awhile. Thanks for the motivation.
Exactly!
I’m glad that this didn’t turn out to be a Blair witch video you were getting lost a lot. 😂
I'm new to the area. Sometimes I say I'm lost, but really I'm just exploring an area unknown to me.
Great video! I love the Whole Earth monk fruit and stevia blend sweetener.
Quite a few philosophers had the "few wants makes you rich" idea. Like the weekly free movies idea would be great.
Love your walks and talks! Especially at Bidwell Park in Chico, CA where I went to Chico State University back in the 80’s. My family still lives there. Go eat at La Comida, where my niece still works. Keep up the wonderful videos.
You're inspiring me and I love it. Thank you.
Round fence post broke on my three acres coral fence,, just dug a new one. Exercise of any type gives a natural high. Not to mention saved money doing my self.
We recently moved and got a good deal on the TV/Internet package, as soon as the offer expires we will have internet only. We have more than enough DVD's to keep us entertained. Our cell plan is a total of $50 a month. We drive older cars and live in a very modest home.
At first play I thought you said 'doging', but on replay you said joggiing ... phew ...

I’m saving for a house this year. Found out what I needed and what I needed to fix to get a $475,000 loan. Here in California I’m sure I’ll be able to find something I at least need a 3 bedroom for my family. Hoping to find something small and comfortable. Can you do a keto menu? I feel like all money goes to my keto diet
Do you ever worry about walking alone in the woods like you do? I watch a lot of tv and it never ends well. 😳😬
I worry more about Bigfoot or Aliens than I do about people. I can defend myself.
@@PrepperPrincessSo true. Safer to be in the wood than around people 🤷♀️.
Vix is free for Spanish programming. But ads must be watched. I’ve been loving it. I am watching all my favorite telenovelas from childhood.
Pluto, Freevee, and Tubi are great when it comes to free TV. Plenty of good shows/movies to watch.
Meanwhile, parents are paying $1,000s to take their teenagers to the latest pop star concert.
Princess any ideas on cheap internet? We can't get AT&T where we live. Right now I just have my phone
Does your local library offer free wi-fi? If so, is the library far from your residence?
No malls for me
What’s a mall?
Wonderful video!! ❤❤ God bless you!!
I deside to join my senior center for 25.00 a year I am 55 year old
Excellent as usual...✌🏾
I think freevee is one of the oldest ones. It used to be IMDb (Internet Movie Database). It was just recently that they changed their name to freevee.
I also really like freevee...lots of good movies on it and good sitcoms.
Ha...aound here, where I live we, use corn to fill the packs for corn hole, but I can see that rice packs would work too. (And you can always microwave the rice pack to use on an injury or muscle cramp).
FreeVee is actually Amazon Prime's free service
I get freevee and I have an Amazon acct but I do not have Amazon prime
What's the best thing you've found metal detecting?
I didn't find it with the metal detector, but while I was out. I found a brand new forklift battery that I returned without a receipt and got $200 cash for it.
@@PrepperPrincess Cool. I have found all kinds of cool things over the years. With, and without a detector. It's fun.

You always look fit & trim. I thought you were about 130 lbs❤
Oh yes, dear young woman!
Lovely looking walk!
I cut out all red meat, No Animals, in 1976. I gave up poultry, eggs and animal's milk 11 years ago. I've been vegetarian for so long. I'm not completely vegan but not too many products away from being there, but I'm OK that this is my now normal way of life. The main thing that convinced me was all the factory farming and how inhumane animals are treated for their short life before they are brutally murdered. It's so disgusting how cows are treated to retrieve milk intended for "their" young, not humans. And chickens, horribly treated. If you have Netflix or other source of movies, consider watching a few documentaries. (Just my opinions and belief)
Have you considered using honey for a sweetner? Local honey is claimed to be very beneficial.
@@Frugal_fitchic - I sort of don't eat dinner. I worked nights for so many years that the larger meal was lunch, prior to going to work. I eat oatmeal 5 days a week for breakfast and bagels on the weekend. Lunch is soup or cup of soup & sandwich, in the winter. Every few weeks, I'll make a pot of pasta with sauce; a bowl for lunch and it lasts all week. In the summer I eat fresh vegetables cut up, sort of like a salad but without lettuce.
I used to get home from work after 10:00, so no dinner. Snack stuff, crackers and toppings and a glass of wine. Has to be something to go with wine, ha ha.
Reading books is one of my favorite pastimes these days. I don't mind spending a few dollars to buy them from charity shops or our mall's annual second hand book sale. I also get them free online for my Kindle. Reading is a wonderful way to immerse yourself in other worlds.
@@user-hl6tr5qf1n we even have these in India in my city. In a park, as you mentioned
Red meat is okay and gives you a lot of energy and nutrients. My last blood work was perfect and that came from walking 45 minutes a day, cutting out most refined carbohydrates, reducing portion sizes, and not snacking between meals or at night, other than something like an orange or popcorn.
LOL, Girl, you know how I live! By the time I'm finished gardening, tending my chickens, or canning and preserving, I'm ready for bed! I can honestly say that I've never been to Starbucks (even years ago I said, "I'm not paying that!"), and I hate shopping. I shop for groceries and drive to the local Feed and Seed store. Am I happy? Absolutely!
@@suecook8379 Absolutely! I just turned 70, I'm on social security, and my budget is like a tourniquet. I garden like my life depends on it, because it does!
It's amazing how one can get by with less when they must. When I was widowed, I turned off everything except my electricity. My phone, TV, Internet. I had no choice but to keep the car and buy gas because I was too far out of town.
Now don't cut out red meat! Just consider researching that! Dr Sean Baker, Dr Ken Berry
My husband and I have been living this philosophy and way of life for many years now. I'll admit we are not quite as frugal as you are. We have however reduced our dependence on material things to some extent and inadvertently managed to pay off our mortgage, in record time. We own two Vespas and a pretty nice car, and are completely debt free. We have been buying mostly second hand cloths, furniture etc, etc, for years, including the items above. We don't feel in least bit deprived of anything. On the contrary our life is rich and abundant. We do however never skimp on quality food. Which we see as an indispensable investment in our health and a major factor in the quality of life, and one of our many forms of free entertainment.
Power to you and keep spreading the word, because people are killing themselves, and each other just to stay in the rat race.
Ooh I love that idea about the top 5 free movies this week! 📺👍
Be safe when you're walking! Always take a buddy
@jackleo8693 and carry mace/bear spray and a big 'walking' stick 😎
I have been a numismatist (coin collector) since I was 8 years old. (I’m now 61.) This is a hobby that can keep a person happy for endless hours and you can spend as much or as little on it as you want and still have fun. For example, I enjoy going through $25 boxes of rolled pennies that I purchase at the bank looking for old coins, error coins, rare die varieties, etc, all of which are worth more than the face value of the coin itself. A very peaceful, inexpensive, and calm pass-time and every so often it actually puts some money in my pocket when I make a valuable find. 👍🏻

I had an epiphany. Spend the rest of my life being open to experiencing joy! Dancing is free! Every day!
I live by a 1 sq mile Navy OLF which has a 4 mile sidewalk around it. I find it sad almost everybody walking is wearing plugs in their ears instead of listening or watching their natural surroundings.
Nobody should have plugs in their ears these days! Stay vigilant because we are being inundated with criminals in EVERY corner of our nation. It's Biblical.
One of my favorite free place (BC, Canada) is a local heritage village beside a beautiful lake.
I would definitely take a bonfire and BBQ over a restaurant
I saw your video about having no health insurance. You can go to the healthcare marketplace and when I wasn’t working before actually “retiring”…I applied and am paying only$18.50 a month for health insurance. And it’s good! $2900/year is my annual max out of pocket and PCP is only $15 copay, specialist $30. It’s better than when I was paying $900+ for blue cross blue shield outta my own pocket! When I had an employer, I paid almost $200 a month my portion. I am floored how low I have great insurance for! There is hope out there!!! You are risking way too much by not having health insurance!
Prepper Wales is not in England! 🏴 Separate language and culture. We have our own Government..a devolved administration although still governed by Westminster and the U.K. government on some things. Stay safe…and if you’re doing the boarding…get the health insurance sorted first! Looks so gorgeous there. Thanks for the great vlogs. ❤🏴❤
I was so happy to see men of all ages playing frisbee golf at a really nice park I took my dog to this past week. It was refreshing to see even young people enjoying the outdoors and getting exercise instead of being on phones or computers. 😃

I'm a hiker too. Lots of trails near and around me. Always amazes me how few people take advantage of some nature in and among urban neighbourhoods. But sure as day the mall parking lots are always packed. Good on you for embracing the new lifestyle. I've hit my highest weight too, and it is an effort and takes lots of discipline to stick to the plan.
Roku is truly a money saver; I'd never pay for netflix. Tubi TV remains my favorite for movies.
The weekly Top 5 Free Movies idea sounds cool!
The best money I've ever spent is on a sewing kit, the amount of money I've saved from fixing clothes and other things is insane, knowing how to sew is an invaluable thing and I encourage everyone to UA-cam sewing lesson videos for free to learn
I was 48 years old in 2020... I pulled my grandmothers old sewing machine out of the attic and learned to sew and make masks*. I learned everything I needed to start on youtube. Fun, useful. Very useful. Now I am cursed with that over whelming urge to make pillows :) Joking, sorta :) Best wishes.
And such entertainment!!!! I'm ripping an old bedcover as i watch PP... Hoping to recreate another bedcover out of it
Most places I’ve worked at we were told not to discuss our pay with fellow employees. Probably because the pay was not fair.
I used to have a contest with my young boys what free things we could do. We made popcorn for feeding the ducks and geese at the park. We went fishing, camping at free places. I always use the library for books and movies. We went swimming in the ocean or a lake. And we did lots of riding bikes. It not only was free, but created memories.
I adore nature! One thing I've been doing since I was a teen is gathering wild vines and weaving baskets. Love your content princess!!!

The library is a good source
I would love for you to do the 5 movie recommendation!
So True! The best things are free, like hiking. Until you start doing it you don't realize how much you have been missing. The outdoors make you feel better than anything. Another free thing you can do is Volunteer! Volunteering is so fun and rewarding at the same time. I volunteered at a Ferret shelter for 20 years and met so many wonderful people and always had fun. I know we all like to donate to charities but volunteers are even more appreciated because volunteers are often short in supply.
Be careful walking in the woods by yourself. There are some insane people out there that would attack others for absolutely no reason. Bring a weapon, or your dogs, or go when there are more people around. But don't count on other people to protect us or do anything. Most people would just run. So, we need to be fully responsible for our own safety. Good luck!
For the person asking about cost effective wedding. We limited our invitations to about 25 people. Our ceremony was at the local university. Free room. Tipped our preacher. Reserved space at a local quality reasonably priced restaurant that provided a private area. We opened gifts at my mother’s house that was nearby. We left there for our honeymoon in a national park. Two nights and three days. It was early December so everything was off season pricing. We went to a natural hot springs pool in the evening. Clear starlit skies. We kicked around town and went home at the end of day 3. Our total cost was about $1500.00 in 1982. We could have got a cheaper a room and ate at lesser restaurants but this was our wedding. It was also -30C but winter is beautiful with all the snow. Any money saved was put toward purchasing a house which to us, was far more important and we still have great memories of it all.
U are doing a lot of things right great help to people.

I entertain myself with gardening and raising my chickens , after work I water my garden, weeding ( that part is tedious but keeps me busy! ) I look for wild berry bushes that I can transplant, I have 2 blackberry bushes that are booming, they are like okra, you got to pick the ripe ones every day 😁 I read a lot or have the book read to me, I fish since lake just a mile away and if I don’t feel like paying for a license I fish at the creek that runs behind our subdivision, I love brim. I use to be a big spender but I got out of that it took me a year to get out of that , then I was unemployed for 9 months! At 60 it’s so hard to get hired! One of the perks of living in a small town, nature right outside my door and no coffee shops. We always brew a pot of coffee at the house. We have been watching Pluto TV for a couple of years now. Love it! Love your channel!
Thank you for the reminder PP. I have a couple of places I go where I can be in nature. I drove by one of those locations recently and did not have time to stop and enjoy the outdoors. I need to make a point to get out more often.
