It's very cool seeing you share meaningful messages Russell! It's sad how how our society glorifies and obsesses over celebrities, when most celebrities rarely do meaningful or inspiring things. Our culture is very backwards. Thanks for being a meaningful person and trying to do good in the world Russell. Keep at it. 👍😇

I had so many one night stands I couldn’t even count them when I was lost in drug and alcohol addiction, it’s just masturbating using another human as a glove . My karma was ending up feeling more alone and empty with each encounter . Being a lost soul sucks . 13 years sober and clean now and happily married 👌🏻better than any one night stand

@@JeremyGalloway its not a problem unless the person throws themselves around without thinking what sort of people they are making those connections and getting that imprint with, and no its not just an emotional imprint, its also physical, people were taught that careless promiscuity is "adventurous" and "just a bit of fun" but its not true, it comes at a price and most people arent prepared to pay it. Depression, inability to form or hold relationships, low self-esteem and so on, thats what those people have to look forward to and nobody even acknowledges that they are related, that maybe a bunch of young people dealing with those things in increasing numbers and at a younger age may be related to their lifestyle choices, in the old days we called that "being jaded" and it was a bad thing, but today its the new norm.

In my experience one night stands were not the empowering experience I told myself they were. I never felt good about myself afterwards. I went into it thinking I was a strong woman who owned her sexuality but what was really going on was I was a lonely little girl that wanted daddy's love and approval. Since I was actually an adult and my father had died I realized that I couldn't continue being used and call it liberation. Everyone has their own battles to fight and dragons to slay so my story is my own and I'm in no way making any judgements.

Speaking from experience, there is no better feeling than being in a relationship with someone compared to having one night stands after too many drinks in a pub. Finding someone you really connect with and love is a rare thing in my opinion, getting dates if you try is often easy enough, but finding the real thing is rare. If you do find that special person then dont take it for granted because it may just take you a long time to meet someone else again where you really have something amazing

Speaking historically, I was so love-starved, attention-starved and dealing with a very serious mental illness, that I would go to night clubs five days a week, looking for "love." I didn't know how to demonstrate it or make real connections so I would trade my body for these really ugly, empty "connections." The guilt-shame cycle made me feel worse, so more one-night stands occurred. I'm lucky to be alive in many respects. Although I don't engage in that behavior anymore I am still finding my way of how to have deep, meaningful connections. Working on my food issues now. I absolutely love that you say to stop doing something if you think it's problematic and see what feelings come up. I can't stress enough how important I've found this to be. What you will find is if you stop doing something and those feelings come up, that its probably something from deep in your past, likely childhood, that you've hidden from yourself and do things to cover up the pain. in reality your pain needs felt and expressed or it will never diminish. you can usually tell someone's level of pain with the drug they're using to cover it. honestly im just really appreciating the truth in what you're saying.

You are a beautiful human being who has value in this world. You dont need to use or be used be someone to know that. Save yourself for the right one. They will admire your patience and willpower.
The only reason anyone says anything positive about a one night stand is to cope with their regret.

don't put this as an standard for high self esteem that is bound to be failure. most of people aren't succsesful in these things. People should have high self esteem as a norm always no matter what happenings come and go or don't come. If your happiness depends on something so specific you'll be moping around and bringing yourself and others down.

I believe in the system of chakras and here's how I see it. Yes, maybe as you said it happens because you are not available for emotional intimacy. _Or_ it is actually just a connection on the sexual chakra. Certain environments, culture, alcohol, and other factors could produce a connection only in this chakra. So I agree with your advice: see what happens when you change your lifestyle and notice if you are now connecting to people in a more holistic way.

Russell Russell Russell, let's be a bit more honest and try to not over- intellectualise things by use of big words. The reason you used to be inclined to indulge in all those one night stands not so very long ago wasn't because you were not "available for intimate, emotional and psychological relationships" , but because you were a right randy bugger who wanted to shag his way through all the crumpet which were offering it up to you on a plate. 🎩

That's great advice here. Not necessarily only about one night stands but also, truly, it works with any kind of behaviour, that is if you are ready to see its repercussions on your life and are willing to find out and face the reasons causing said behaviour. Sometimes, some of those behaviours i think are definitely harder to face than others, like in the case of drugs for example (I'll out myself here and say I speak from experience as a recovering heroin addict...)
All I can say is....again, it's truly great advice here that everyone should take a real listen to because besides just pointing at what's wrong with you it tells you the cause of it which in turn helps you get into the right direction when it comes to fixing yourself. And that, dear folk, is the best kind of input you can get.

It's like sharing a part of yourself. That is why I've never done the one night stand thing and don't understand (but never judge) how ppl are capable of doing it so often and feel alright and thrive even. Maybe they're just saying they are? I know I'd feel so depleted & torn up.
