- Here is diesel heater that I found quite effective in heating my lofts during the coldest weather. This is my second year using these heaters and they are quite effective and efficient. In my case These sit outside of my loft, blowing heat through my bottom vents. My friend has his units in his loft, with the exhaust going outside. In any case, this im a very efective way to heat your loft during the coldest winter days and when you have eggs and youngsters. I couldnt find the exact link on Amazon where I purchased mine, but here is the general pages with all of the units. www.amazon.com.... Here is the link where you can purchase one. Dont forget that it also needs a AC to DC converter. Together the cost is about $130 for everything. I have three of these units. No regrets here!! LEAVE A COMMENT LETTING ME KNOW WHAT YOU THINK! Thx!!
Nice. I need these. That is pretty economic fuel consumption.
YEP! Today the temperature was 26 degrees and in my loft with my vent fans off and running the heater on level 2, my loft stayed at 60 degrees. So I dropped it to level 1 tonight. After about an hour, loft got down to 55 degrees. The temperature will be about 10 degrees in the morning. I would like to see what my loft temperature is in the morning. If it's above 45, I will be running the heaters on level one from now on. That should give me 48 hours on one tank of gas, about 2 dollars per day. I will report back!! BTW, the heat gauge goes up to level 6. I'll never need to use that. The highest I have gone was level 3. that gives me about 16-18 hours of heat.
Bet the birds are nice and cozy in there. BUT i live in Wisconsin and personally I don’t use any heating/ electrical wires in the loft….we hear it all the time loft catching on FIRE. Most recent is NANEZ FAMILY LOFT. pigeon fanciers here do not either because of being FIRE HAZARD….anything in there and around the loft is flammable. If a feather gets in the wrong place with that diesel heater can be a disaster…these birds are fine when it gets below zero here for days. Always remember is it for the birds or for you….good luck
Diesel is not very flamable. It has to be very hot out for diesel to ignite. check out this link. ua-cam.com/video/7soVqyGq4i4/v-deo.html. I basically heat my loft to ensure that youngsters are warm in the nest and eggs do well. But, you have a good point about lofts burning down. I dont think that's the case here. It's just me brother, I dont like my birds to be super cold. I know healthy birds can handlw the winter, but it's just me. Plus I spend a lot of time in my loft and want to be warm in there, lol.
Smart move
It works out really well..
