- We have no idea who took the other dogs and left Andrew behind, alone, for a whole year. Luckily, workers kept feeding him, but he wouldn't let anyone near him and finally someone who knew about #HopeForPaws contacted us for help. There is an important teaching moment here. In a situation where there is more than one dog, most people try to get whoever they can and it's usually the easiest one to get and what happens is that the more nervous dog sees his friends taken away, so he would not come closer and those animals are usually left behind.
The way we approach a situation like that is to focus on capturing the HARDEST dog FIRST because we are not as worried about spooking the easier, more trusting dog.
In this case, JoAnn Wiltz and Katie McKittrick had to do the long drive to the Mojave desert and had to only rescue one dog. They did a great job at not spooking him, they set up a trap and made sure he saw them driving away and this brought him back to his safe spot pretty quickly.

There is never an excuse to abandon an animal, there are options to surrender. Hope for Paws goes to the need and the majority of every dollar of donation goes to the animals care, from vet to final adoption, driving thousands of miles during the year requires tires and gas, dedication and physical day-in-day-out commitment and obvious efforts seen in these videos is truly priceless. Those small donations from lots of us add up and are just an item or two costs from your grocery cart once a month! Affordable even to me, retired on fixed income. We are a community of love.

@@akau1340 Not everyone knows who to call. A surprising number of people still believe that calling on a dog will result in them in the "pound" and euthanized. They had to have cared for him regularly for him to have survived in the desert for a year.

And he looks so terrible, terrible sad. So thank god that the wonderful and colorful duo came to his rescue and he now at last has a smile on his face. And it was nice to see Ziggy, the little cutie again, can't understand he hasn't been adopted yet.

When will animal abandonment and abuse have tough enough laws to stop this horrible treatment of these precious animals? 🐶🐱💖🐰
Some people won't respond to laws no matter how tough they are. People's hearts and attitudes need to change. I once knew a neighbor whom I learned had abandoned an animal. I continued to be nice to her and helpful, but discontinued social association with her. We need to send the message to others that we will not have as friends someone who thinks abandonment and abuse of an animal is wrong.

And if I knew someone abused or abandoned an animal I would report them whether they went to Jail or not.
If they inflict pain on an animal or human they don't deserve anyone being nice to them. They deserve JAIL!! They will respond to the laws when they are in jail.
Even if their hearts can be changed they should still go to jail just like people do that hurt children or adults. Let them serve the time then see if they changed.
Remorse? Sure, they are sorry that they get caught the ones that get caught that is.
How many family members continue to be nice to someone that is abusing them? And what happens too many times when they are?
Too many people don't realize just how much animals can feel pain, too! Most just don't show it like we do unless it's really bad.

I am not sure why you want to make responsible pet owners pay for irresponsible ones?
My dogs have always been inside dogs that when they are outside in our securely fenced in yard we are with them! So we don't need the risks of microchipping but for pet owners that let them run loose then I can see why they should be microchipped even with the risks.
I agree with Dr. Karen Becker and other vets that also go by risk vs benefit on whether or not to have pets microchipped where she has said pretty much the same as I just did.
I've had dogs for 45 years and never lost one!
But I do have dog tags and they aren't coming off.
Normally I don't post this as I think people should be capable of researching and making their own decisions but when I see someone post about mandating chipping then I will post this.....
Reasons why I won't Microchip......
1. Risk of infection at the implant site!
2. Risk of nerve damage with implants!
3. It's not without pain to get them microchipped!
4. Microchips can cause cancer!
5. RESEARCH CONFIRMS that implanted microchips cause cancer! (Laboratory rats and mice, chipped pets, and some zoo animals all have developed aggressive cancer growths at the site!) This has long been known and yet ignored as the powers that be enforce their will.
6. Technological failures of microchips are possible! Microchips can stop working and be expelled from the body.

I don't think you can change the cruel behavior of people with laws. We need to just pray that ," Karma" gets them. What goes around , comes around. I hope.

Awe poor Andrew... he got abandon and his best friends were taken away from him :[ It would be so, so terrible for a dog to be out there in the desert heat and without hardly any water. I'm sure that every day for him was a struggle, and he probably was so petrified every day. He has such a long silky coat, I wish I could adopt him and the other dog together... but due to my current circumstances right now, I cannot financially handle any other animals or I otherwise would totally take him and the other dog. They seem like the best of friends, I hope that Andrew and him could get a home together :] They deserve that much from all they've been through! :] I'll always support and donate to this channel as best as I can though! :] Maybe one day...
They just want a little bit of love,care and treats and they give back a lot more! Humans are the biggest animals! Dream big little one!
