  • What should I include in my research statement?
Do I need to have a publication before I apply?
Should I email professors in advance?
The PhD admissions process is stressful! You have questions!
Prof Mark Dredze hosted a PhD Admissions AMA (November 15, 2022) to provide transparency into our CS PhD admissions process and answer common questions from applicants.
This guide is focused on CS PhD applicants interested in working with faculty in the Center for Language and Speech Processing. However, much of the advice will be useful to PhD applicants in general.
