I have had my Oasys for nearly two years. I am mesmerized by it and have barely even touched it's real capabilities. KARMA is an incredible soundscape.
It's not a synthesizer... it's a huge music studio !! Amazingly complete !! If you buy it, you'll need only 20 years to be able to use it at it's maximum ^^
Yeah. Not only the ability to customise samples, but also, to be able to simply play live and change from say "combined strings & brass" to "Strings & woodwind" or "brass and woodwind" through the press of the screen. The touch screen modulation with personalised 'combination' really sets it apart for live versatility. Can't imagine the same with the Oasys. Though, the high end, diversity and quality of it is best for studio recordings, in my opinion. But, the kronos is good too!
Oasys is for high end production and all in one. Kronos lends itself to a wider range of users and the ability to use your own custom samples. The Oasys is a beautiful beast but for me Kronos is much more versatile which is what I personally like.
I wrestling with it now, too little time. The book is very complex, I'm having hard time with it (the keyboard). But slowly I am getting there. Phenomenal piece of equipment!
you are so right on it. I have a m3 also and no it does not have the power of the king oasis but boy it is still a beast. the drums and the karma 2 technology yea boy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
indeed OASYS was created to be the BEST sythesizer workstation! But it was also created for the most demanding and creative musicians who need every single one of its possibilities...for me...i would prefer KORG M3 cause its easier to use it and has almost the same potentials as the OASYS (and of course dont forget the touch screen with the X-Y mode of the M3)
@MrKORG1980 It went out of production in 2009 (iirc). Only around 4000 was made (something like 2500 88 key and 1500 76 key) (again iirc), so good luck finding one :)
How much did it cost$ to print the entire Oasys manual at Kinkoo's ? Been thinking of doing that myself at some point...Too many pages for the meager laser printer here! Talk about a melt-down..lol Did you bring the .PDF in to them on a USB key and they printed it out from there or do their printers have 'print from USB' (or whatever) capability ? thx..
There was recently one on eBay fully loaded (as in, synth-store purchases loaded + increased RAM & updated operating system etc.) for about $4700 - I think that's a steal anyway! Wouldn't mind buying one after I get an m3 to compliment my kronos for stage. Oasys investment would be studio only.
I made an amazing deal on ebay. One might say I stole it... paid $ 3,000.00 for 88 key in absolutely perfect shape, along with the heavy duty case and pro-stand. It's been a year now and thanks to having such little time, it's a struggle for me. It's like you open a pandora box. With every step forward you discover thousands of other possibilites! It drives me nuts but in good way, you know...It's like a drug
@imaxximus hi , i'm thinking to buy this OASYS. can u tell me , that is this still available? i need the keyboard keys, which is oasys 73 or 76. please let me know.. thanx.
If it was 88key, such price is still exceptional, especially when in pristine condition. Mine has also expanded memory and all the additional stuff. I do not plan to go on stage anytime soon, most likely never again. Just want to experiment and see where it takes me. Anyone has an opinion on Korg Radias as complementary real time tool to enhance the combo with OASYS?
@SamplingMastersAZURE There's something I don't understand : they say the interface is quit eintuitive so, easy to use... do we only use some rudiments in synthetising to understand the basics of the Oasys ?!?! Yes !!!!
seems like I told a certain person that the board was discontinued and they cussed me out for nothing cool guy 64 I hope you got another oasis sorry about the lost of the first one. peace:]
@dm3857 If your fucking loaded man, go for it. But if you've only been playing for a year you don't want something this capable. This has midi and pre-recording shit and more. If your just playing and practicing, check out the Yamaha MM6 or the Korg Triton or something similar. Anything Yamaha really. Good luck.
@SamplingMastersAZURE Would it be an insult to buy this machine without being able to play the piano ? To buy it only for its abilitities about sounds, and modeling ?
@Thrillrjunior34 Motif? Hah! The O is in a league of it's own. I played an O back in 2005, and even the latest Motif's piano still doesn't even come close. If you get a Motif, you'll have to buy third party libraries, and even then, it still isn't the O. Motif is good for the VCM effects, but OASYS is good for almost everything else.
The Motifs have a bunch of great sounds in them, but their built-in piano sounds are still nowhere near the O's. In addition, Motif has no alternative synthesis types, and the O has at least 4 others besides sample playback. Owning an OASYS is almost as good as owning a Fairlight or a Synclavier was back in the 1980's. I'd get the 76 key version if I were you, though, because the 88 key version is very heavy, especially if you're taking it on the road.
Of cource the KRONOS can do everything the O can. It is hard to view the K as anything but a fullfilment of the OASYS; a system way ahead of its time, and now practically available at a reasonable price, rebranded as the K. Of cource there are thing of which the K is inferior, the number of connectors, the overall build quality (knobs, screen etc), and why the hell is there a 30G SSD instead of a 128 or 256 or whatever, but yes, the K is great, it is finally the O much more available.
@albrestevez The Kronos is "better" in the sense that it is newer, and the sounds are better, and it can run more stuff, like vsti plugins, but the OASYS is still a monolith comparable to nothing else. The huge tiltable screen and the led bottons all which make the Kronos seem "lesser". The Kronos is often described as the Oasys 2. This I do not agree with. I would rather describe the Kronos as an instrument that is ment to be sold, where the OASYS was more of a "look what we can actually do".
Overpriced "Jack of all trades/Master of none". It "has" a 16 track digital recorder. You can buy a dedicated Tascam 24 track recorder, both Yamaha/Roland flagship keyboards, a few expansion cards/ROMS, perhaps a used Triton, an analog Alesis Andromeda, & still have $ left over! & you'd have greater variety/flexibility of sounds & recording. Granted the OASYS is beautiful, but what was KORG thinking? How many $8k units can you sell? Obviously not enough, since they discontinued it.
Coolguy64 you really need to relax more.. so shouty, i have an oasys76 (and an m3 which u seem to hate??..) but i dont shout at everyone who cant afford it, or can't justify the cost of it (ebacuse of family, food, cars etc... Its not what u own, its how u use it that matters.
dude you are way off the point...i didn't say that M3 is better i just said its more affordable and has all the hardware features a normal musician would use...read carefully next time
I have had my Oasys for nearly two years. I am mesmerized by it and have barely even touched it's real capabilities. KARMA is an incredible soundscape.
The best from Korg in the past 20 years.
this is above and beyond any other piano!!!
It's not a synthesizer... it's a huge music studio !! Amazingly complete !!

I think by the time i've finished figuring out everything this masterpiece of musical engineering is capable of I would have died of old age...
Its the ribbon controller, its assignable, meaning you can assign it to do a variety of functions, such as alter the cutoff frequency of a sound e.t.c
2020 AND ITS STILL THE BEST AND ONLY 3000 UNITS (GIVE OR TAKE ) WERE MADE
Yeah. Not only the ability to customise samples, but also, to be able to simply play live and change from say "combined strings & brass" to "Strings & woodwind" or "brass and woodwind" through the press of the screen. Can't imagine the same with the Oasys. Though, the high end, diversity and quality of it is best for studio recordings, in my opinion. But, the kronos is good too!
Would i replace the O with a K? No way. Would i consider getting a K in addition to the O.. Constanly am.
It is a ribbon controller, the same You can find in Roladn VA series
Oasys is for high end production and all in one. Kronos lends itself to a wider range of users and the ability to use your own custom samples. The Oasys is a beautiful beast but for me Kronos is much more versatile which is what I personally like.
the ultimate power in the universe.
what is the thing at 6:22 ??
@Cyberbob182 Thanks, I can't die at least until I am 71, because I just bought one. Can't wait till next week to pick it up!
I wrestling with it now, too little time. The book is very complex, I'm having hard time with it (the keyboard). But slowly I am getting there. Phenomenal piece of equipment!
there are the pedal inputs, then there is a ribbon controller and the the vector joystick. I wasn't sure which one you meant :)
you are so right on it. I have a m3 also and no it does not have the power of the king oasis but boy it is still a beast. the drums and the karma 2 technology yea boy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

do you use the sequencer on Oasys? seems it would be easier to manipulate with the large touch screen etc.
@MrKORG1980 It went out of production in 2009 (iirc). Only around 4000 was made (something like 2500 88 key and 1500 76 key) (again iirc), so good luck finding one :)
Now that Kronos is out, id like to know which one is better.. Im a noob but just wanna make sure to buy the best one! Thnx

I love my Oasys...I had a triton extreme before and the Oasys blows the doors off of it
I NEED A LEGITIMATE ANSWER BACKED UP BY LEGITIMATE EVIDENCE: Which piano is better, the Korg Oasys or the Motif XF8?
Definitely my new toy...time to save some money!!
Dude im with u on this one. the F8 aint that bad....but man i would love to have this one because im so good with the triton le
Would you consider a Fantom G8, then?
I was thinking of getting it this month
witch genre is best for this synth ? or can you use it for any genre ? ive heard some synths is better for some genre's than other.
doesn't this thing have the modeling synths of the OASYS PCI?
oops sorry I ment Oasys oh yea cool guy 64 where can we hear some of your music?
can you post it on you tube or due you have a website I can go to?
how do you do pitchbend/mod ?
I seen stuff here about the Motif vs OASYS but let's put a real test to it. OASYS vs KRONOS?
There was recently one on eBay fully loaded (as in, synth-store purchases loaded + increased RAM & updated operating system etc.) for about $4700 - I think that's a steal anyway!

ITS A BEAST
flac support?
OMG THATS SO FREAKIN AWESOME! the only thing thats not awesome whit the oasys is the price....
I own a Kronos - and I am in the market for an Oasys. What does that say? :P
Kronos is fantastic for live gigs. Oasys is great for studio.
cost?
If it was 88key, such price is still exceptional, especially when in pristine condition. Mine has also expanded memory and all the additional stuff. Hey they fixed most of them. thanks
:)
sigh, will it ever be mine?
Expensive for sure but its UNREAL.
@ChristianPiano89 u just earned the 40th thumb up

You're gonna have to go to a music store (i.e Guitar Center, or Georges Music) to get a Korg man =]
uuuhhh, could you repeat that a couple times?
Of cource the KRONOS can do everything the O can. eh si...notevole,alcuni suoni ricordano il mio ds2 Crumar
you can't compare open labs with the theoasys
open labs is just a keyboard with a pc ...running windows and softsynths ..
