Beautiful Bella is riding wonderfully she have a nice handle riding Bella is a smart and a good girl she seems to be confident riding the trails
Definitely a school day for Bella in which she did pretty well. A-😉🤺
👍
I think if all the gates opened the same way Bella would be better at them, time and repetitions will help. That horse standing by itself was taught to what is called "ground tied" it is usually a western aid. Love these videos as Bella matures.
Practice makes perfect! She'll be a complete gate pro in no time.
🤞
As you say, it's a learning curve. She actually does very well, it's just frustrating at times.
Kind of the man to dismount and open the gate for you and Bella xx
👍
Love that she is now being exposed to group rides now and actively learn trail etiquette. Definitely needs to practice gates.
Bella seamed confused today. We all have good days and bad days.
What a nice riding companion. I think the second cattle grid worried Bella - she looked anxious, but she'll get there. Loved Ikey's bark - Tara has been quite restrained with her language lately😅😅😅. ( we know what you're saying, Tara, you can't pretend with us - an awkward gate, Ikey barks....🤣🤣). Lovely varied scenery.
🤣🤣🤣
Bella is getting plenty of gate handling experience. The western style horse is very calm and chilled out.
She'll figure it out eventually. With all the gates you have to deal with on bridleways, she will HAVE to learn. The only to donthatnis is to face them and just do them, Ikey and all!! There are gates everywhere, Bella. They are not an option! 🐎🐎❤️❤️🏇🏇🥰🥰😉😉
🤣
Everything is harder when we are being watched. 😊
Hopefully Bella will learn from this other horse, when comes to opening & closing gates. The other horse looks so laid back, love the western gear on this horse & Bella looks pretty in her own way❤❤❤
I remember the yard that I had my first horse (well Connemara) put a new gate on the drive that you could open and close while mounted.
First time I tried, all went perfectly. Never again was I able to stay on her back going through that gate, had to dismount, and try to get back on her again while she spun around in circles!!! Hopefully Bella doesn't do that!!! 💖💖💖
She will get it, sooner than you think - I love all of the things that you are teaching her with love and patience - I hope that you are proud of yourself and her. N
😊
Tara, to help with opening gates teach Bella turn on the forehand. When you get to a gate ensure Bella's quarters are at the hinge end. You are sideways onto the gate. Open the gate and then use turn on the forehand aids while holding the gate open. Once through, close gate using the same procedure as before. If facing the gate, the reins could get caught on the gate catch. Hope this helps.

Practice, practice, practice is the only way they become good at gates. It also helps being younger and able to get on and off easily!
That chestnut is so calm, bless him
Insert Ikey bark here!❤
🤣
🐴🐴💙...So frustrating!😑 but Bella will get those Dam Gates!!😂 the more She goes out!👊💃💞 ...impressive the Guide's Horse stood like that! Bella may not have, but I think Apollo would have!🐴👑♥️...Loved this! Thank you ever so much for sharing and All take care!🙏🥰🤗🤗🐶💗...🐴🐴💙
❤️
We know Bella can do gates but I think she was wanting to be with new friend and not left behind. I don’t think she liked the look of the cattle grids either but she’ll remember them for another future ride. Bella you must listen to mum 🐴🐴🐴 Bills a good companion rider 👍👍👍
In another video you told us that Bill's horse is a quarter horse. Everything clicked into place. I knew i saw some super power in that hind end and ground tying is a must. What a beauty!!
👍
🦄🩷🥕 good girl Bella
Bella didnt like the look of those cattle grids going sideways to lose sight of them! Good try tho. Lovely scenery and stone bridge, and pleasant company too. ❤❤
Seem to be a lot of gates on this ride!
You have learnt a lot already, Bella. The rest willcome, I promise.
👍
I see some gate lessons in her future. Stand, walk on and back seem to not be in her repertoire today.
🤣
Needs a lot of work for gates. A lot of practice, over and over. But you know that Tara.👍🧑🦳
Sometimes it's like the horse knows, and it's not paying attention. Like a youngster. Love them anyway❤️❤️❤️
😳
I wonder if those cattleguards right close to those gates had something to do with Bella being so nervous about the gate. Or maybe you were nervous and she felt it. Just watching it made me nervous because I kept thinking oh my gosh, what if she somehow gets over onto that cattleguard? But anyway, she did pretty good for a baby. ❤
💖
❤🐎
I think Apollo would stand untied if he wasn’t getting left behind and he could eat.
Bella seemed a bit confused today, she is forward going but she head you say stand or back so she didn’t process quick enough the forward, I’m sure it will come with experience.
👍
Lovely horses.
🐎🐎💎💎❤️❤️
Oh, Bella, you've got your baby head on today with the gates. She was definitely giving the cattle grid 'the ear'. She will have learned for next time though 💛🧡
Is this the last gate mom?🥺
No Bella😒
No way I would be able to get
back on my horse from the
ground. (I don't have a horse)
I would be walking the horse back🙂🧓🙂
I've often thought some sort of retractable/folding pole with a hook on the end might be of use with these gates. Something that would fold down and be on your person or attached to the saddle. I"ve got a walking stick that does that, the handle could serve as the hook. Something like that but of
smaller proportions. These gates are an equestrian nightmare. So glad your riding buddy was able to help out again.😊
I’ve wondered about that too.
Hopefully Bella will learn from this other horse, when comes to opening & closing gates. The other horse looks so laid back, love the western gear on this . horse & Bella looks pretty in her own way❤❤❤
Bella didn’t like the grids on the road! Apollo and Farouk told her about them! I also think she was a little impatient because she didn’t want to be left behind! She’ll get it, early days! The countryside is so beautiful with all the tulips and stone structures! Thanks for bringing us a long! 🐴⭐️❤️❤️
Bella is much better about the gates, but she still has to become more mature and cooperative. I don't remember seeing anyone else on your rides using a western saddle. Is that very uncommon in your area?
yep! not many in the UK either
