- The actress Chrissy Metz shared the details about her weight-loss journey,
her tough childhood and how it’s affected her role in "This is us".
The first time Metz read the script of "This is Us" she instantly felt a connection to her character. Just like her character Kate she has gone through a lot of hardships. Since childhood, Chrissy has struggled with her weight. The actress claimed that she was “born chubby” and had to fight with being overweight basically her whole life.
By the age of 11 Metz was attending Weight Watchers meetings. She was the only child there.
She landed her first major role shortly after when Chrissy was cast as Barbara "Ima" Wiggles on American Horror Story: Freak Show. The job required Metz to wear a fat suit which had a sobering effect on the actress.
Soon Metz landed a role in the TV series This Is Us. The contract required Chrissy to lose weight along with her character and the actress was excited for that journey.
In real life Chrissy doesn’t worry that much about numbers. In 2017 during an interview with Marie Claire the actress confessed that she doesn’t even know how much she weighs.
As for her personal life, Chrissy has been lucky enough to meet her prince charming - an aspiring writer Bradley Collins whom she met through a popular dating app.

Especially when people like yourself, are unable, or unwilling, to see beyond the weight to the very real person inside of there. Yup, I agree. I was SO looking forward to her 'stunning transformation'.
I had noticed in the newest episodes of This Is Us that she had gained weight and was curious if the scenes were from earlier in the pandemic since filming has taken so long. But no. She's still morbidly obese despite supposedly having a handle on her binge eating. It's all well and good "accepting yourself" but I had hoped she had wanted better for herself.
@@mydogeatspuke That doesn’t mean she doesn’t want better for herself. This is clearly a lifelong battle for her, with deep rooted trauma attached to it. It’s not as easy as eating a salad or going to the gym, its not just simple overeating, it’s longstanding emotional and mental health problems that she needs to overcome before lasting change to her physical health can begin, and when that inner battle has lasted for decades, that’s not something that can easily be overcome overnight or even in a few years. She doesn’t need anyone to tell her she’s morbidly obese, she’s well aware of that, more than anyone else, and well aware of the health implications. It seems she does desire to lose weight, and is on a journey to find healing, but it’s going to take time. Allow her that time without making judgements. At the end of the day what matters most is who she is as a person, and how she treats others. She seems like a wonderful person with an incredible personality who is talented in many ways. That’s all that really matters, and her weight has nothing to do with that.
@@BhappyD I would love to know where I said it was "as easy as eating a salad," or "easily overcome overnight," or that I wasn't "allowing" her anything. Your own issues with your weight have no place here, and getting triggered by a complete stranger who wasn't even talking to you and putting words in their mouth instead of dealing with your own issues is borderline psychotic. I never said anything about who she may or may not be as a person either, or that it would have anything to do with her weight. Be less unstable.

@@sonja6789 @4:23 also I did a Google image search, best I can tell she’s lost weight but she hasn’t lost all of it. When you consider how big she is it would probably be best for her to lose it gradually so that she can keep it off once she reaches The correct body mass index for a woman of her category. It doesn’t feel like she’s lost a lot because were so used to the Hollywood happy ending size that Happens overnight, but that’s not how real life works. Anyway my guess is they altered the photo as Clickbait. Anyway the telltale sign that she has lost weight is if you look at her chin, it does looks like it’s gone down a bit.

IF YOU'RE TRYING TO LOSE WEIGHT PLEASE READ!
I've been gaining/losing since childhood. Absolute best way I've found is to use an online height/weight/age/sex/activity level calorie calculator. I'm 5'8", middle aged male, keep my daily intake to 1000 calories or less daily. Try to walk 1.5 -2.5 miles at least once a week. I lose about 2lbs a week, and seldom hungry at all. Barley and fruit for fibre, little meat, minimum dairy. Dates, figs, apples and dried fruits for sweet. It really works and is the most painless diet I've ever tried, and I'll bet I've tried them all.
If you're you're somewhat fit, try Jane Fonda's aerobic step...i lost 100lbs in about 8 months. If could learn to keep it off I'd be set!
Wow I can relate on so many levels to this woman. I started Weight Watchers when I was 9 years old like her, the only child in the room. My father literally gave my lunch money to my skinny brother because he said I didn't deserve it. Said he would not buy me clothes until I was a size 2. (I never got there.) He was a doctor who smoked and told me to start smoking to lose weight. After a while, I realized that almost every doctor I went to blamed every single health problem on my weight and refused to treat or test me, even for a thyroid disorder ("thyroid medicine is not a weight loss pill") I was even bullied into doing a 100 day long medically supervised fast, which had devastating lifelong side effects and I gained the weight back after I started eating again. I am back to the same weight I was in high school, which is not "the ideal weight." I am grateful this lady is doing this for HERSELF and not listening to the haters!

I have also struggled with weight…BIG time (literally),so this is not meant to be judgmental. But there were times when I was watching This Is Us that I almost found Kate’s size distracting. I don’t recall her losing weight on the show, but I could be wrong. I just reflected on how they concentrated so much on Kevin‘s alcohol addiction and working through that but rarely, if ever did they express much concern about Kate’s food addiction other than her visit to the place where she met Toby. I think we can all agree that both addictions are equally dangerous to one’s body health. But I believe that with any addiction, you have to want it for yourself in order to successfully change. I love Chrissy and miss the show already!

And with a lot of my own health issues I’ve been trying to cope with, test results were coming in while I was out of state at the funeral with family.. so it was bury it all, bury it all…. And deal later. Well later came and went… lol. Then a flood came! As it sometimes does. Good thing I’m a good swimmer. Hahahahaha. All of the comments I’ve read are positive, but I can’t believe she is that accepting of her body. She is more than over weight, it is painful to see such a obvious nice person being so obese. There is so much more that she could do to lose the weight, especially since she has the financial ability to do so. In the new season she looks bigger than ever. A live in dietician and exercise coach would definitely help her to lose weight.

No one has the right to judge you based on your physical appearance. I relocated my whole life from Kansas to Texas in June 2022, after my offer letter said, "$5000 relocation assistance" and a week later I was told they would not honor the relocation. I then have found out since, it is because I was too fat and the CEO didn't want me to take the job. I wasn't a superficial, thin woman like the protocol of his employees of his company. It is disgusting to be judged by your physical size and not by the level of skills you have to accomplish a job and be successful. I went from Employee of the Month to fired, because I wasn't the "right fit." The COO commented to my Director that quit on my first day, "She is way too big, you shouldn't have hired her, she isn't a good fit." The Director and HR Manager were so disgusted that the CEO & COO would comment that they both quit even after I agreed to move here despite the recall of my relocation assistance. I used to let my weight define me, I refuse to anymore. I have to stand up and be a testimony for every person, male or female, to ever be discriminated against because of their physical size. I look forward to some day sharing my story, to help impact lives in a positive and profound way, authentically.
