I’m a “professional artist” but kinda hate everything I make. I somehow managed to get into my dream school but I still don’t feel good enough. This video made me inspired to go back to basics and focus more on the 3d shape stuff. Thanks for sharing :)
if you think you'll reach a point when you feel 'good enough' I'm sorry for telling you "you'll never feel good enough about your work, so don't worry about that because the harshest critic for any person is himself unless he's delusional or a narcissist.
most of greatest artists never felt good about their works.
Yes that’s great! I wanna get into a art school when I get older. Sounds fun.
I dropped out of my dream art school if it makes you feel any better.
Imposter syndrome sucks bud. I hope you’re feeling better about your art these day!
Whats ur @ to follow? 👀
Just saying, but as a Mid artist I spent the last 5 years training my art skill, it ain't about talent, its about training yall
ON FACTS YO! training is key!
Mark's video editing and humor was top tier this video. So entertaining. Keep improving bro.🙌
Yea, and that opening joke hit harder than that time in the mid 40's when there was a fat guy it Hiroshima Japan.
(I might delete this later if cause it might be a bit too spicy)
Mark you may not see this but I just wanted to say you're undeniably the goat, I started following whyt over a year ago, and third a few months ago and through them I found out about you, and all three of you and many others have been an astronomical help in my art journey, you may not get the recognition many of us feel you deserve, but just know you are appreciated, I hope your future in this platform is bright.
Thanks, you inspired me to draw more. I thought my drawling would never get better. But I watched your video and got better. (Btw I’m 11)
It always gets better
Same
Same thing braw:)
Same
Ayyy we got one starting early
I can attest that yes grinding the basic shapes is the first step!!!
Sarcastically one of the most honest youtuber I know.
Important thing to take note too is being patient, coz like you said it takes time. Many pepol wanted to jump to complicated stuff already while not being able to do basic shapes.
This video is so informative, it’s great. I have a lot of friends trying to draw, while I don’t need this, I sent this to multiple people. It definitely helped.
Yesterday I sketched a very dificult dynamic pose for my character and at first I thought I won't be able to do it but this is exactly how I succeeded - by starting with drawing the simplest shapes possible in correct pespective. This is always relevant, not only for beginners, it's always the most important thing to know how to draw 3d blocks in correct perspective. It always pays back.
Love the reference to the Spare Me Great Lord op. It's such a great opening and I'm sad so few people know about it. I swear 99% of the studio's budget went on the opening and not the actual show XD
Also this video has inspired me to actually practice drawing shapes so thanks :> it's time to draw a lot of circles
A truly masterpiece. I even tried to learn the damn lyrics XD, but yeah, the show itself is crap
Btw if someone want to start with donghua I really recommend Link Click
@@mariom3077 link click is great, I've watched a few episodes and it's really good
@@forgettableotaku you did well, watch it till the end. I can't wait for the s2
I've been doing art since highschool but i took a 3 year long break and now i cannot art and even in art class we didn't go over the things you did here! Thank you :)
Been needing somewhere to start beyond just messing around thank u this gives me such a good direction to go
On step 4: Remember to wear an artist smock when breaking a human down to their basic shapes; that blood gets everywhere! Do your self a favor, keep your clothes clean and put that smock on.
Thank you so much for this video. I need to tell myself over and over that I need practice. i'ts legit the most basic and taught us since we're kid. Not just art but life itself in general. Everyone is different, some can take a big leap and some need baby steps. Wherever state of progress you in, if you think you need to speed up, speed up and if you need to take a slower pace you can. Don't wait for too long because your motivation is slowly fading. Practice and beat yourself to be stronger. Like Mark said practice so you can prepare to do whatever you want to make you art. Don't be too harsh on yourself, give yourself a pat and keep on moving. I belive in everyone and I will pray for yall.
Love your videos, they motivate me to keep drawing. Keep it up.
4:42 these "goofy" shapes can be learned, they are basically transformed 3d objects like cubes, there's a really great video about how to learn to draw everything, I think on Proko channel - and the guy was showing how to twist ie. a cube to such weird new shapes
Well a good artist that helps me even though I'm animator it will help me find the right angles and perspective thanks a lot
Hey, is it okay if I use a ruler for steps 1-3? Just asking
@@isaiasvalladares4210 of course It is! You can do it in any way you want! 😊
Things dd that was very very helpful and motivated
D D Markk can you please do video on color theory? I think you’re the only art youtuber that can explain it in the most simplest matter to beginners.
*Only* ?? Sure about that?
Check out Marco Bucci, Marc Brunet, Proko for some nice beginner friendly color theory vids :)
2:14 has made up my mind I am now subscribed.
Yeah no literally drawing cubes and cylinders astronomically improved my drawing. Big thanks
another essential: be very, and i mean, VERY critical of your work. everyone has their own unique artstyle but if you notice something off about yours, fix it. there's never an enough amount of critics to fully improve your drawing skills because they have their own biases and techniques. the only person that can fully improve YOUR drawing skills is YOURSELF
Thanks man, not gonna binge watch any videos like this, going to practice ❤️
your editing style reminds me of young don the sauce god and I love it
Absolute gold brother. Gives me an exact roadmap to follow to build the basics.
Follow up: by fundamentals do you mean gesture, anatomy et ? Curious at what point do you move on to those things after the basics? Appreciate you!
"Your last brain cell is on witness protection "
Come for the art tutorial, stay for the roasts. GOD DAMN! XD LMFAO
Yo mark you probably ain’t gonna see this but thank you I always kept looking for a short cut to drawing a god like portrait but the way you said it to practice basics and there’s no shortcut made me feel like I should start trying to practice thank you a ton
100% art tutorial ❌
50% insults 50% art tutorial ✔️
Now I can finally draw!
Do you think that you could do one on the fundamentals next?
AYO. The editing on this one was peak!!!!!
This channel is exactly what I have been looking for
thanks for the vid i have been drawing for awhile now but i skipped the fundaments so figured i best practice them now
I remember going to some youtube videos and youtubers were like draw a circle and a in between of that blah blah blah
I was like Fuck it and instead of drawing face with shapes I drew the faces directly starting with eyes and it was somehow easier
One thing I would like to mention regarding reference. Use them to build your mental reference library but not for direct inspiration. Copying and making something on your own are two different skills. Also learning the basic 3D software is awesome for environment artists, I just wanted to learn basics for scene planning and really liked it so i turned almost 100% to 3D...
Even getting to the mid from zero would be amazing for me
I was already following you on the gram Mark, love your work. but Im glad to have now also found your youtube channel ..!!
you spat some truth in this video and i appreciate it!
this video is really entertaining and educational but I tried it maybe I am not made for drawing 😢
by the way keep it up bro you have a good way with words.
Also not to toot my own horn but I drew Naruto out of memory in 4th grade 😏😏😏
@@welpthatsnice3453 wow there are some insane artists out there. When i was little there was a art book i had in it you just had to colour stuff.
@@mangaexperts lol
In reality, no one’s made for drawing. It simply just takes a bunch of practice, I know everyone says this but it’s really true. start by looking up tutorials I rlly recommend sinix design he helped me improve quite a bit. If you ever consider getting back into practicing again, good luck on your journey! :)
@@spiredman3094 bro there is also problem with my hand it shakes a lot but when i see mostly artist drawings their hand movement is very smooth so i think it's not for everyone
Im really good at semi realistic portraits but I've decided to make a comic/ manga and I feel like I'm learning over again and you really helped me
Omg I loved that 3 second clip that you added from the music video Boy By King Gnu
Aka the opening of Ranking Of Kings
Small things like that make me so happy
Knowing that someone else shares this memory w me

I have underestimated how hard it is to edit videos, wow
It took me a year of practicing how to draw just to get a basic idea of it.
And another year to get "decent" at it.
That was literally 2 years.
But now I lost interest, I don't know why. Maybe I only got hooked into the challenge because I wanted to improve my drawing. But not become a serious artist or something.
Anyway, thanks to those two years I'm better at drawing than my younger self.
Thx dd mark it's very helpful ☺️ bro you are king of art #ddmark
the intro ive been searching for 😭😭
I'm satisfied with my drawing style i just need an idea to make a unique comic book
Another banger from sir dd.mark thanks for the advice.
thank you man😊
congratulations on hitting 15k subscribers I've been here since 3k subscribers
No lie, the best advice you've given so far was the Drill and Execute method. Nothing has topped it. I changed my entire to do list because of that "heads up".
I grabbed "Anatomy for Artists" by Tomfoxdraws to use for my drills.
then
I grabbed "Masters of anatomy book 7" to use for my execution.
(I use Masters of anatomy sorta like a coloring book. I take my understanding from the drills, and draw the entire figure but overemphasize the muscles and shapes from the drilled in knowledge.)
Thanks for the encouragement.
Best intro ever💀
My guy, that intro😹😹, great vid tho
Hello mark your an inspiration to me fr I love your art and your personality your so impressive I hope to be like you one day
Back to basics thanks man
Imagine this I was good at tracing 20 years ago, I always wonder what would've happened if I didn't stop 😔
Damn. This was actually a good video. Hella funny too. Gotta subscribe now lol
Best art channel
Simple shapes it is.
Now I may not be a beginner but im still finna watch it cuz i know imma learn something
triangular prism??? that's a pyramid my guy. have you heard of tetrahedrons?
DAMMNNNNNNN you right tho! HAHHA howd i miss that
@@ddmarkk hah! love to see a good sport, keep on going with your art journey!
That starting intro tho!!
LIKE FR, MARK?!?
Thank you bro
A fellow futanari enjoyed🤝💯
That "last brain cell is in witness protection" line is why I subscribed just now
that perfect blue screen had me deceased
KlARiOn!!!!!! Also love the video :D
W intro
Basically do a draw box exercises.
Human: I'm not basic shapes! I'm a- AAAAAAA *transforms into cube*
Was watching the video aloud
Then at 1:55 😶😶
I am in shock and also lmao 🤣🤣
Ur videos are getting better
And all the points were up to the mark
dont wanna draw but fcking love this video, SO MUCH FUN.
Ive honestly been thinking I probably should just give up,theses are straightfoward steps, but Im just trash at this,
I'm not sure if you've ever made Mangas but if you have. can you make a video on how to tell better stories through illustration or make a complete process video of your artwork
1:34 start
lmao thanks
thanks for this !! supper great video!!! also does anyone know what show this is at 5:46 ?
27k for 30 minutes? I agree, that's very expensive.
As always great video🔥👌💯
Markk do you watch Seth the programmer video?
me an intermediate artist watching this:
Good stuff sir dd of mark
Uou! que video bom! 👌🏾*NICE*
Simple just draw what you like.
Hahaha! The Truth Hurts! U Funny Asf Bull!
Real hiphop sakuga fan right here
Bruh, your patreon and the Artcast links are *not* in the description by the way. Good content as always. You rock.
An actual helpful vid nice
i can draw each shape and still can't draw other stuff's :(
I'll get there someday. And by someday I mean very very much soon.
I see a lot of people suggesting your keep your arm off your drawing tablet, is that always neccesary cuz drawing with my hand on the tablet is way easier especially when the shapes are small.
Damn I was hoping the guy in the thumbnail was from a manga. I want to read that.
Just get Ai to do it for you. Welcome to Skynet
This video could have been 5 minutes shorter
everytNice tutorialng. It was still interesting. Wish I had tNice tutorials video when I started out
I know I’m a year late but what is that anime at 3:25????
Bro that opening scene lmaooo im dead!
