I have another idea... So remember that you said when there's one there's always more so they travel through the dimensions and all around the world. There could be more of those haunted playgrounds to teleport back to back and then since the castle so big it makes kids lost and that's when night comes and the clowns kidnaps the kids and goes to a different dimension and dies turns to go so then turns to a clown. So there's both of those kids that goes the spirits and the clown itself
