This song was the catalyst for We Are The World. Bob Geldof from The Boomtown Rats organized this. Then he got America to do a similar effort. He actually was at the recording of We Are The World. He gave a speech to all the artists, then they started working on the track.
It's a great song and I've always loved it. I was thirty-two years old when it was released in 1984 and still love it to this day and have already listened to it a few times this Christmas season. I think as soon as I finish typing this I'm going to listen to it again.
Gotta admit, every time i hear Bono say, "Thank God it's them instead of you!" i kinda laugh at how that could be totally misinterpreted. I guess the leason here is indeed that Jesus is the reason for the season. And Jesus forgave people for their trespasses and ignorance. So, there ya go
As the saying goes, "Much ado about nothing". So sad! It was unfortunate about the lyric, "Well, thank God its them instead of you". Not completely thought thru. However, millions of dollars were generated to relieve the suffering of many, many people so it's all good!
My ultimate favorite Christmas song. It’s a time capsule. The 80’s were the best. As of now until Jan 20 I say fuck this current administration and mentality of the far left.
Merry Christmas Dave! Please don't leave man...we need you as a voice of reason.
Merry Christmas! You were the first blog I followed on You tube, years ago searching for Steve Perry, Journey stuff. Stay here.
David,
🎉❤
Missed you
Tried to find you!
Glad I can comment a d tell you.
Again, you were missed.
Maybe some of our fine, talented lads from Sweden could do a remake.
That’s exactly what they were saying, oh by the grace of God go we

It raised $178 million for charity. So how is that a bad thing after all these years? I say ban her.
It still blows my mind that Phil Lynott wasn’t involved, considering he was good friends with Bob Geldof and Midge Ure.
Might explain why members of The Smiths and Echo And The Bunnymen rejected Geldof's invitation.
Probably because Phil was too far gone on heroin by then.He would die like 6 months later.
Apparently, there won't be common sense in most places either.

Have the Album…Played it yesterday Not banned at my home…Feed the World!!!
This person that is trying to ban this song is really “overthinking” it.
My favorite Christmas album is That Christmas Feeling by Glen Campbell.
Play it over & over , A modern day classic & Merry Christmas to Harmless Dave & all his subscribers 😊
It's funny how the people in Africa weren't upset about either song 🤔

No way. Just heard it on Sirius-XM's Holly yesterday while dining out with family. Rock radio will still play it.

Good evening Dave!!!
The song is a great feel good song. Makes us think of others who are in need. It raised a lot of money. This complainer is misguided.
I bought the new Van Zant 💿... it is really good... 4.7 🌟 out of 5 🌟
Sigh....well here in NYC, Baby, it's cold outside." 😅wink wink
Bono's line was the best part, the most edgy, and the song is one of the best songs in history. Bono is Irish. It makes sense in context.
Simple it’s British not American like ‘We are the World’. 🇺🇸
It’s a great cd! Just got it for Christmas!
The song is great and the critics are idiots.

great song. van zant cool guys. i like hearing your opinion.
Let them ban it. Band Aid /live aid already happened. These people suck. I was 12 when this song came out and no one can take a song away from me..
I'm not the biggest fan of this song, but those complaints are ridiculous.
to ban a christmas song
i just dont get it ...
my mom passed away when i was 15
years old and my dad 10 years ago
It’s a millennium attitude, great song, what is wrong with people, they were trying to raise awareness, people get a life.
As long as they don't ban Mariah, we're good.😀 Check out Wes Montgomery's "Baby, it's cold outside." Merry Christmas, everyone!
UGH!! I can't stand that song by Mariah. Never liked it.
