Darkness-- one long double entendre about depression, fame, and Vegas shooting
Never love again-- one long double entendre about drug abuse and toxic relationship
How does em construct bars with this many layers?? Like, the entire narrative makes sense from start to end when viewed as two different stories
@Randy Mcilveene I completely agree bro
This man didn't only make whole song dedicated to drugs, but every sentence can be related to women. Literally.
@Igor Stupar, I was actually feeling the same thing! I have a woman in my life that this song put me in the mind of sending it to her to listen to because it was soooooo dead on. I didn't. I'm a coward.👏👍✌🙏

"I'm countin sheep, you're bound you creep, cuz every time I turn around you keep, running out on me."
Crazy bar, referring to a woman running out on him, meaning cheating on him. And referring to the pill bottle running out of pills every time he turns around, because he's taking so many of them.
This whole track is amazing, and the beat switch in the 3rd verse is perfect
🔥🔥underrated bar
Facts!
The track is about pills
@@andydunlao8465 Yes but its a song that has what is called triple entendre (drugs, women, music). You can listen to it from all 3 perspectives and it will make sense. Tupac did a similar thing with the song "Me and my girlfriend". Recommend you check that out if you are curious.

@@BlindMelonLord darkness too. It's about the Mandalay Bay shooter and him as an artist
@@BlindMelonLord to me even the hook can apply to music. "...did you find someone new are you doing this with them..cause I remember you was mine yeah we were inseparable at one time"
Yes it could be drugs and money alone that he is talking about but at the same time it doesn't take a whole lot of thought to apply that to the music industry. He will never love again like he loved making music. It's also a symbol of how feels that the music industry is moving on without him and that the industry and fans has found another person that is going to hit the fame and the glory that he had. Obviously he still enjoys ALOT of success with his records but it's not like it was in the early 2000's.
Even the most memorable line about his friends saying it's bad for him hogwash can be applied to music because he keeps putting out albums that people are critical of and that maybe people doesn't like and mentally it's draining and puts alot of stress on him personally and his friends tell him it's bad to keep putting himself through that when he literally has nothing left to prove. But as he says also on the song he is a addict and I take that to apply also to making music and rap and he cannot quit making music. Every single part of that track can apply to music.
Everything about his music is a triple entendre.. shady, Eminem, Marshall sides to everything he raps these days.
I never thought about it being about drugs until i watched this 😱
Also as soon as that beat switches in the second hook I get goosebumps, EVERY. SINGLE. TIME.
Same man, to everything you just said. This is a "Darkness" level double entendre
The double was easier to catch on Never Love Again though. Caught it sooner.

Theres a few double meaning songs on the album.. farewell is another one.
The beat and flow is probably my favorite on this album.
And if you ever had an addiction this song resonates.

Lord Jamar be saying Em a visitor in the house of rap?
I'm thinking Lord Jamar is a visitor to reality.
thats tuff
@Christopher Smith name 3 songs jamar did
Beloved Woman *Guessed. The thing is though, Eminem even agrees that he’s a guest. He isn’t playing around, he knows he’s only a guest. The thing is though, he embraces it. The way he thinks of it is, he’s still learning the craft of rap. We all think that he knows all of it, but he thinks he doesn’t. He thinks he’s still learning. On account of the fact that rap is constantly changing. Especially nowadays. (For clarification, this is coming from a white guy). I know I don’t have to say it, but I’m going to say it anyway. if you think I’m making this up, I’m not. He says it on an interview that just came out today that he did with king crooked. Go check it out.
Lord jamar is a fool then. EmS a genious
@Christopher Smith wtf are you talking too. salt is salt. and thats my issue with jamar. not his color. dont ever put words or thought outhere. i grew up in a time an place (queens, nyc) that if you were racist. you either were dealt with. or got over it. and as much as i know SOME whites are dicks to blacks. it goes both ways. when i moved into the black part of town. because my parents died and i lived with my godparents. all i cared about was what kinda bike you had (bmx), video games, and music. i was 10. and l actually got my bullying from white kids than any black kid. unless you are a dl racist. dont be ashamed of your skin color. just dont think you are special because of it either

You gotta do In Too Deep and Farewell. They’re amazing tracks
Farewell one of my favs
@👁 and then there's me who loves in too deep😂
Idk those two songs are catchy for me lol
I feel like that "on top when I was on you" was a metaphor like he was on top of his game whenever he was on whatever drugs he was taking.. well that's my breakdown of that line
I was thinking that was literal in that the feeling of being on the drug while also being on top of the world as a superstar. He can't imagine not having that feeling
Also "how many times you
*fucked me* (sexually/mentally/physically), but the way it felt for me to be *on top* when I was *on you* "
Nah it's referring to having sex with a woman and being on top of her, but also being high on pills. "How many times you *fucked* me, but the way it felt, for me to be on top when I was on you"
Then he says "I thought you loved me but you tried to kill me, I'm getting off you." Again, could be talking about a woman actually trying to kill him (we all know about those crazy Eminem love songs where this happens). And it's referring to him overdosing on pills, they tried to kill him. So now he's getting OFF the woman because he's done with her, but also off the pills
Agreed and for awhile when you first start a new habit such as pills . you feel like you got a edge against everyone else . but in reality its just more confidence because you're zoned out speaking from experience . but thats my take on it .
@@absent72 nah the OP is right you're definitely missing a layer here. The main meaning of the line is definitely referring to how he was on top of the game when he was on drugs. The main double meaning is the sex with a woman reference, continuing the double throughout the whole song and the alternate third meaning is the high he felt off the drugs
i feel u bro. The lyrics sick. It hits me atvthe first time
