Four Phoenix Cops WILL NOT Receive Qualified Immunity In Suit Over Death Of Muhammad Abdul Muhaymin

- Four police officers in Phoenix, Arizona, will not receive qualified immunity in a lawsuit for the death of Muhammad Abdul Muhaymin in 2017.
During the arrest, one officer pressed his knee into the back and shoulders of Muhaymin. During the encounter, Muhaymin cried out, "I can't breathe."
A Muslim advocacy group and the First Amendment Clinic at Arizona State University requested the sealed files be made public.
No disciplinary actions were taken against the officers, and the city never admitted wrongdoing.
The victim's sister settled with the city for $5 million.

Ppl, please understand that just because a victim or their family member receives a settlement, doesn't mean they can no longer receive justice. Both have been done before. And in this case, it still can be done. The reporter did say that the officers "WILL NOT" receive qualified immunity. That's a green light for Muhammad's family to go after those officers.
Learn the legal lingo folks. She is saying now the family can sue city monetarily. Now with the new ruling family can now go after officers criminally.
IMO, as long as we continue to "settle with the city", the cops will never worry about accountability for their actions.😔

But the police didn't receive qualified Immunity. Praise God for that. People, we have to continue to pray that God will intervene in these situations. Let's also pray that these police will be convicted about killing black men. They shouldn't be killing no one; however, for some reason they seem to believe black men don't have feelings. Firstly, I like your show a great deal along with the news presenters. The issue I have is this video only had 31 seconds of news, followed by roughly 1:08 of advertising which is understandable. That is all well and good but it is the approximately 2:00 of having people praise you and this is every news section. We as black people are proud of what you've done for yourself and us. But at some point I hope the pats on the back can be used for news. Once again I enjoy the dialog not so much the constant need to be applauded for your works.

Egregiously misleading headline.
Settlements in these types of cases are typically paid out by insurance companies, with neither the city as an entity nor the officers individually admitting any wrongdoing. Qualified immunity, as a legal matter, has nothing to do with a settlement, nor is a settlement a legal declaration of an individual police officers' entitlement to qualified immunity. This is highly irresponsible reporting.
So she chose money over justice, OK.
Hopefully she'll get both. The fact that they won't receive qualified immunity is huge. Now there's even a better chance that they'll get both.
