Try using a small leather punch tool set from harbor freight 3/32 size and place a sacrificial new metering diaphragm rubber material and punch it on wood. It works. Ive done it a handful of times
I really don't like the hda or hdb carbs... And hdc for that matter.. Lol, but this is a good tip, didn't you do almost the same thing on a hdc a few years ago?

Paint the gasket with a sharpie before you cut it to help you see it
The cutting tools simply just won't cut a really smooth edge on the disk and my EZ still won't run right.. I tried this before.

What are the symptoms, If that valve is messed up? Have several hda carbs.
