After owning a G1 for about a year, it’s a pretty solid box.. 4 gigs ram there is no worries with multiple apps running in the background. It can be modded such as custom launchers and changing the animation scale makes it quite fast. I have only 1 Google update so far.

Excellent review with very good comments. I am now using a Chromcast Google TV 4K and I am having recording issues with Tivimate. The problem I am facing is that the video recording stops while the audio recording is going well. For a one-hour recording, this may happen several times. The problem is probably due to the lack of power in the device itself. Have you encountered such a problem with the Kinhank G1? Do you have any recommendations?
I didn't use Tivimate with the Kinhank G1 so am unable to comment in that respect. That said, I have the Chromecast with Google TV and it can in terms of power if used with external storage and an alternative PSU... Recommendations? The Kinhank would probably be OK for your needs. Also, I use Nvidia Shields as daily drivers and also a Homatics Box R 4K Plus. Both will also handle what you want to do.

I have received the Kinhank G1 and have tried recording on my NAS via Tivimate. Everything works properly and the playback of the recordings is excellent. The only downside is that several streaming applications for local content cannot be installed because these applications do not seem to support this version of Android TV 11.
Hmm, you may have to try and contact the respective app developers to update their apps(?)- That said, Android TV 11 isn't that recent, so a little surprising.

@@WOTBoxTV I have found the problem. Those streaming applications for local content are supported. My problem was that I was using a Google profile registered in another country under Google Play Store. Once I used a Google profile registered in my country, those applications installed like a charm. One side note regarding Tivimate, I am really impressed by the G1, I am able to record at least 4 HD streams simultaneously. The G1 is really a good IPTV box.
I know this box has a problem were you have to choose whether you want HDR10 or Dolby Vision but that doesn't bother me because my tv doesn't support Dolby Vision but I would like to know if the box automatically switches between HDR and SDR based on the content you are watching or will it be HDR or SDR always? I would also like to know if the box supports refresh rate switching for apps like Kodi. For example: if the box is set to 60hz will it automatically switch to 23.976hz when you play a movie on Kodi provided you have the setting to enable refresh rate switching on within Kodi?
Ihave found in Ali express KinHank G1 with only Amlogic S905X4 but less 25$ YOU THINK IS GOOD TO BUY or S905X4 J deserve 25 $ more ? not gonna use for gaming I have console and decent PC for gaming / its real 4 K cuz i see on Aida 64 1080 FHD ?
As far as I know, there is only one version of the kinhank G1. If the listing says S905X4 , it's almost certainly the same S905X4-J chip. The G1 handles 4K just fine - Netflix, UA-cam, Prime etc, etc. The Aida64 results showed 1920x1080 because it was connected via capture card to my PC monitor which is only 1080.
Good question. I no longer have the device, but from memory, I think that if you pressed the power button (when it was on), it'd turn off only the device and not the TV.
Good question. - Yes, all the usual apps like Netflix, Prime Video, Plex, etc etc will play in 4K if those services have 4K streams…. So why does Aida64 show 1920x1080? - Aida shows what the display of the *home screen* is set to. Android TV 12 and above have 4K home screen capability. Android 11 and below do not (even though they can play 4K content where available in most apps. There is an exception in that the 2019 Nvidia Shield Pro *can* display the home screen at 4K, but to do so requires several steps including going into developer options. Also, 4k enabled home screens in the Nvidia Shield Pro have a drawback in that the icons (everything) displayed MUCH smaller (fits more on screen…..) Hope this helps!
I got one I wanted to use it as a video player from my external drive I couldn’t use it it needs internet @ the setup no option to skip the google login I returned I think the box should work with or without internet .
The G1 has more up to date hardware (compared to the Xiaomi) and gives a better bang for your buck imo. Comparing to the Mecool KM2 Plus Deluxe (the latest device from them), they have MANY similarities....same 2xUSB 2.0 USB, MicroSD slot, and the same processor (the very recent S905X4-J) etc. The Mecool has 1Gbps Ethernet whereas this is 100Mbps. On price the Mecool costs around $25-$30 more after discounts so, unless that Ethernet port is a major need for you, I'd probably get the Kinhank. At the end of the day, it all depends onyour own type of usage. BTW, I am in the process of reviewing the Mecool, video out in the next 2 weeks...
The Button Mapper app handles that, as long as the button hasn't been hardcoded in the remote's firmware. In the case of this Kinhank G1 device, 3 of the 4 quick access buttons can be remapped, the fourth (the Netflix button) can't. Covered this at 13:10 in the vid
Couple of issues as I am not based in the UK (in Spain). ITVX and ALL4 "work" yes, but usually hvae to be sideloaded. I no longer have the box so can't check them now. That said, the All4 app is clunky at best as it's not an Android TV compatible app (it's designed for a touch screen and not for remote controlled navigation), so you have to sideload it/them. Some apps are only available on a location basis. I have a huge backlog of videos and projects atm so it could be awhile before maybe making a video on the Google Play Store. PS Remote Play is available in the AndroidTV Play Store - a paid app which costs €7.49 here Hope this helps

Wouldn't the inclusion of 4gb ram be pointless, seeing as it's only capable of running in 32 bit mode? I was always lead to believe that in order to utilise the full 4gb it would need to be running at 64 bit.
You can have more apps in the background with more RAM, but how many people would benefit is debatable. Then again, you can guarantee that there would be loads of comments along the lines of "2GB of Ram is not enough these days"
Anyone can confirm if this one is capable of normal (and relatively fast) functioning of Chrome browser when it loads Emby website for streaming media?

Curious as to why you think the GT King "is better". I agree the Onn is a MONSTER in terms of value for money! A terrfic device - I love mine. That said, it doesn't compete in terms level of expandability/hardware/specs.
