Wait is she not fluent in English? Bc her pronunciation is perfect, she doesn't has issues with any of the syllables that only korean speakers have. I tried looking on a wiki but it doesn't have any info on where she went to school and stuff, but she's really good! Her runs are spot on and the song is hard to sing.
Like no Americans can't speak fluently in Korean because it's really different between those languages

KC Hjra i’m very confused as well.. i think she sounds great. first kpop video i’ve seen where the majority of the comments are critiquing a solo idols performance. i don’t see this kind of feedback in other girl group songs, when maybe two out of 6 or so can sing well - the rest mediocre or rap-focused entirely. even for other soloists or gg solo projects, you don’t see this kind of feedback. it’s odd. where’s it coming from? why do a lot of people suddenly have a lot to say for this particular person? when in fact, whether or not she lacks emotion, she’s got a great tone and great control. not to mention, i think her face is just fine and that seems to have been brought up as an issue as well - that the faces she makes while singing are unattractive? i don’t understand why that is relevant to her singing which is the focus here.

To me, it sounds like she is focusing a lot of her attention on her pronunciation, which is making her tense up. Heck, her words are clearer than SZAs.
I just think it sounds weird, and possibly emotionless because she is so focused on the lyrics and the pronunciation. What makes it sound even weirder is the fact that the original singer, SZA, kind of slurs her words together and is more care-free with her pronunciation. So, it just contrasts with the original song.
People are saying that she is trying too hard and that this song isn't for her voice, but I think she's just tense because of the language difference, which I will say her pronunciation was on-point. I thought her voice was very nice.

She may be singing with a lower pitch but I still think she has a nice voice.
Of course, her tone and vocal range might not fit this song. I just think it’s hard to tell because of how tense she looks and how focused she seems to be on the English lyrics.

All y'all criticizing but have any of you actually tried singing this on beat? It's hella hard, and it's even damn hard for a native english speaker to find the right moment to catch a breath without missing a beat and the lyrics. I've heard SZA sing live and even she had difficulties singing some her own songs at times. The notes are seriously on point and her voice is crisp af. Some serious talent tbh.
