Hi - I'm pleased you found the video helpful. It's not uncommon for even experienced dealers to mix up old brass and bronze, especially if the brass has been oil rubbed to give it a dark antique patina. Regards, Mark.

It’s almost 11 pm here in Arizona USA. I can’t sleep so I’m cleaning my home instead, binge playing your videos in the background because your voice is very soothing and the information is very interesting. I’m having a good time playing the game of what metal is it and how much is it worth. Greetings and goodnight!

From Oregon. Enjoyed your informational video. I have a bronze bell with a circle inside a triangle as well as either a person with their hands in the air or a wine glass with a circle in it right below the triangle. Brass=60% copper+35%zinc+5%led ; Bronze=70-80% copper+led or silicium or aluminum or tin. Ancient Bronze is a copper + 10-12% tin

I just polished what I thought was a brass candle holder & it has gone extremely silvery, where it was quite yellow before. No conductivity when I put a magnet on it either, no pull at all. Any ideas!?

    • @antiquescentral

Are you based in the UK as it could possibly be silver plate or sterling silver? Look for signs of a hallmark. If it's sterling silver it will have a lion stamp as part of the hallmark. Doesn't sound like stainless steel or chrome on copper but obviously I haven't seen it in person so it's difficult to say. If you visit my website you can get my contact details and send me a couple of photos?
