@@Matixsb I dont know if the other players were actually level 100s, they are said to have intorduced tiered magic to The New World to replace the Wild Magic that could only be used by mythic beasts, but they only had knowledge up to 8th tier magic... makes me think they were probably somewhere around level 60-80
To the people upset that Gazef didn't get the honorable duel he wanted, you are all over looking something. Ainz freezing time and using true death is how he pvp'd players in yggdrasil. This is the highest level of respect because despite Gazef being weak. Ainz didn't fool around at all.
Exactly. He wanted to honor Gazef as much as possible and didn't hold back; if he had it would have been an insult - just like he intentionally did with Clemontine.
Also gazef was of the belief that you shouldnt be revieved after death (the theocratie can revive certain people for large amount of tribute if i remember correctly), hence the magic Ainz used, true death
When you think about it that was probably the most merciful ainz has ever been to a opponent because that was a quick and painless time stop then death spell

The girl with the rubix cube is not a player however I'm pretty sure she is a descendant of one. Players from the past have descendants in the new world they are known as God kin

And most likely yeah Zesshi is very strong for a human (or in her case half human half elf) but compared to the guardians of nazarick shes still probably not much of a threat. I heard her level is estimated to be around lvl 80 but I dont think that's confirmed. But I'm pretty sure the only New world beings we know of who are stronger than her are the dragon lords.

That's true, but someone like Gazef would have wanted at least a proper duel with Ainz than getting one shotted like that. But I guess they had to save the budget for this last fight lol.
The fight was exactly this way in the light novel too (so it was not a budget decision). Ainz used a high level pvp tactic (back in Yggdrasil, only 5% of the players mastered time stop + delay magic) as a sign of respect. It was out of respect, that he checked the proper conditions for the duel and than gone all out, like he would fight a lvl 100 Player, instead of mocking him.
Ainz was himself. (Visually in the anime Ainz has the red eyeballs and Pandora's Actor when he's transformed in him has not.) Momon was Pandoras Actor who turned on Ainz and cast True Warrior to be Momon.

I copied it from Ziggy's anthologies* There are multiple reasons why Gazef did not become a subordinate of Ainz, so I plan to explain why he would prioritize a one-on-one ϐight during the story. Though Gazef did think about this subject... I wish I revealed several thoughts on the matter. Gazef is a good person. Probably, in regards to the people to appear through the course of Overlord’s story he is a considerably agreeable/ϐine person. 1: The ϐirst reason was what Climb mentioned. [to draw out information for possible future ϐights with Ainz Ooal Gown.] 2: The second reason was what Gazef himself said to Ainz about his sword being in reach [of the enemy commander]. 3: The third reason was should he come under Ainz (as a symbol of common- ers) after being highly evaluated by the King, it may potentially lead to com- moners being judged to turn traitor as well, resulting in the loss of social mo- bility of commoners. [ZN: social mobility is more directly written as climbing the ranks or success in life so I interpreted more broadly as condemning commoners to permanent serfdom] 4: The fourth reason is in the case of his subordinates, they would certainly be used as tools for something (for what kind of purpose they would be used is unclear to Gazef), but it can be thought it would be their connection will be concerning enough to cause a huge loss for the Kingdom. [ZN:Gazef is concerned his band would be sacriϐiced either in retribution or against him as leverage ] 5: The ϐifth reason is that when the King and First Prince return back safely (Gazef does not know that the prince is dead at this point), because nobles who lost a relative will have their antagonism rise. If someone useful to the King like himself would die, Gazef hopes that a small quantity of the hatred will be softened. 6: The sixth reason is that the person called Ainz (even though Gazef saw such a cruel deed) still saved Carne Village, so he thought Ainz to be a man of charac- ter and not cold-blooded to those he does not view as enemies since he saved his life, so Gazef did not want to feign an oath of allegiance, because he held respect for that part of Ainz. After looking over the present, we can now observe the future, for Gazef it was a difϐicult question, so he bet on future possibilities. That outcome will grow from now on and talked about in future releases of Overlord.
In the light novel it specifies a little more, Momon was Pandoras actor and the girl with the rubix cube you mentioned was one of three "God-Kin" Descendants of the 6 great gods who referred to themselves as "Players." This was explained when she was introduced in the novel so that's not really a spoiler in my opinion. But next is the (Spoiler Alert!) The girl with the rubix cube is a half elf "God-Kin" in the mid to upper 70's another one is in the mid upper 50's or lower 60's and another is in the mid to upper 60's, all of their parents are dead accept for the half elf girl whose father is in the lower to mid 80's. As a reference the "Highest lvl angel" in the first season was approximately lvl 60, the baby goats you just saw were each LVL 80 and Ainz actually has the ability to instant summon 3 LVL 80 Angels (Two tiers above the one in the first season). If I remember correctly the angels he summons is a skill he can use once a day without mana consumption, and it's not a super tier spell either, though I could be wrong. It's actually pretty funny, he does it in public to make himself appear more benevolent but their class of angel all have beast like appearances (vicious animal faces and stuff) so people actually think they are all demons and it has an opposite effect. But back on topic, so the rubix cube girl and her father together wouldn't be a match for Ainz, they might survive one 10'th tier spell or below, but probably not more than that. The only character who has been revealed so far who could even come close to being a challenge for Ainz is the "Dragon God" who you saw in the beginning of this season 2. He's estimated to be in the upper 80's or lower 90's and probably the ability to use the still unseen "Wild Magic" The original magic of this world, it's believed to be more powerful than YGGDRASIL Magic but much harder to use and takes much longer to learn (that's why only long lived races like dragons can learn it) . So his total fighting ability is unknown, but he will definitely end up fighting Ainz in the future, because he guards a world class item (The perfect spell book), it's a spell book that has a list of every known spell in the world up to and including 10'th tier magic. That also includes spells from the new world. When a new spell is created it's automatically added to the spell book, and it gives the user the ability to use any spell it contains. Seeing as how Ainz is a magic caster, well you can see how that's going to play out... But then again he has his guardians so I highly doubt that he will fight the dragon alone. Oh, this is an unconfirmed theory but I like it, some people think the dragon might be an NPC that outlived its creators. If that's the case then it will not be able to use wild magic but it could be lvl 100. There is no mention or even hint anywhere in the LN of any "Player" still being alive. The LN confirms that "Players" usually appear every few hundred years and usually with their guild in tact, they make a large change to the world and then usually die either of old age or from fighting other players. It seems that only people from the same guild are transported to the new world at the same time, but there is mention of two players from the same guild who did not know of each-other until it was too late and they ended up fighting to the death. It's possible that another player is alive because it is confirmed that a player lives the designated life span of their race "Since Ainz is undead he can technically live forever." But it's highly unlikely because all of Ainz's guild members quit, even Ainz isn't looking for the actual members but other PC's that they might have created last minute to watch the end of YGGDRASIL. But again everything considered it's highly unlikely that they would even be there with Ainz even if they did come back. The only other possibility is if someone created a PC with an infinite lifespan like an undead but again this is extremely unlikely because in the LN it explains that in YGGDRASIL undead PC's were very heavily persecuted due to the game rules and the normal role of undead in other games, because of this most players who chose undead characters either completely quit or changed their race the first chance they got. So undead PC's like Ainz were actually very rare. PS. Completely off topic but as a fun note Albedo has two sisters, the older sister (Who is weaker because she was designed first) is Nigredo she specializes in observation and espionage magic, she is the one who cast the spell that allowed the guardians to watch Ainz fight Shaltear, she had a decent role in the LN but they cut her out of the Anime for some reason. The youngest (And quite possibly strongest NPC ever created in YGGDRASIL) is Rubedo, created using an experimental method and a world class item she surpasses lvl 100 and is theoretically as powerful as a world boss. Even Ainz is afraid of her. Maruyama the author of Overlord himself said that Rubedo is superior to Touch-Me, who won the world championship for most powerful YGGDRASIL player. It's also stated in the LN that Rubedo fought against raid party of 1,500 players (Most of which were probably lvl 100) and came out victorious. She exceeded the expectations of the guild when they were preparing to make a final stand.
You are the best I had to read this long as paragraph and I finally know that there is atleast maybe 2 ppl whos stronger than ainz I think I spell it wrong but anyway the guardians probably won't let ainz fight that dragon bc they probably know how powerful it is so and also in LN that girl is that powerful holy hell

No rubedo isnt stronger than ainz. She is on the same level but she would beat him in a 1v1 because she is a close combat specialist. With summons and world class items and full equipment vs rubedo with full equipment, its a toss up but id give it to ainz because he has knowledge and tactics (work arounds, exploits etc...) even if she has both race and class advantages over momonga. Rubedo won against a raid of 1500 lvl 75+ NPCs and players, not lvl 100 (maybe there were some but not even close to all of them). Ainz himself wouldnt have much problems against lvl 75+ enemies. A dark knight is a lvl 70+ monster for example. Oh and we dont even know how strong mononga/ainz is with the guild staff because he has never used it. I think people hype up rubedo too much.
@@kato093 Ainz would lose to Rubedo even in his full equipment. According to Ainz, only the strongest offensive force in Nazarick could beat Rubedo if they were equipped with World-Class Items. Ainz had all of the things which you said when fighting against Touch Me, but Ainz still never won a single fight against him despite how long Ainz thought about a strategy to defeat Touch Me. We have no records of Rubedo existing during the 1500 player and mercenary NPC invasion, nor do we know the levels of those invaders. Could you please provide a source for those? A dark knight is not a monster. You might be mistaking it to a Death Knight, which is roughly level 35. Could you please show how Ainz wouldn't have any problems against multiple level 75+ opponents? Ainz did use his staff in the Evileye side story, but I do believe that Ainz's full equipment would include the Staff of Ainz Ooal Gown and his World-Class Item. If we also go with the most popular theory on what Rubedo is, a golem made using Caloric Stone, more than one World-Class Item would be just useless to bring to a fight with her.

Its funny how so many people disliked Ainz for doing a time stop and instantly killing him. Meanwhile I find it the most respectful death he has given any of the characters thus far. There was no pain, he did not even realize he died, and his body was left perfectly intact. Its very clear that Ainz really did not want to kill him, so the least he could do is make it swift and clean.

This attack combining time stop and delay magic is very difficult, and in the original world it was only a few people who could do it. Actually, Ainz could easily kill Gazef without using such a high level method. I felt that Ainz who was supposed to have lost the human mind showed his respect to Gazef's determination.
Ainz showed how much he respected gazef. Everyone is saying how it was a painless death with the spell. That’s not all he used the time magic because he was treating gazef with respect not holding back
It's easy to guess which one is Ainz, which one is Pandora. Just look at Albedo expression, and you will know which one he is.. :D Thank god that *some people* from your patreon stop at eps 8. If *someday* this anime get season 4 (It's quite difficult, because madhouse btw), *they* will be more salty about that season. Its more cruel and dark than this..

one thing to keep in mind when seeing his killing power(the times he one shots things by himself), is that ains specializes in necromancy, a class that relies on overpowering man power/number to beat an enemy(plus conically ains can cast over 900 spells, where other players are capped at 300, the reason being of his overlord subclass, a subclass of necromancy)
Like others have already said this series has roots in D&D. In D&D there is a 9th lvl spell called Time Stop that does pretty much what it did in this episode. Like, note how the spell didn't actually take effect until after the flow of time returned to normal.

I really like how a world reacts to a trully godlike creature appearing. Also remember Momonga/Ainz just wants to spread his name throughout the world. But current powers in the world don't like to lose that POLITICAL power..

This is late but like whenever I hear momon I always think it was actually said as mammon who, in demonology, is the sin of greed. Although that doesn’t make sense as there are already some of the sins under Ains.
Did you notice when the king was back in E-Rantel with the nobles, they did not have any lights on ? That was they were afraid of a follow up attack from Ainz. That girl with the Rubic's cube is a Player's kid. The Slane Theocracy was founded by players. Ainz when he was in the real world was a PK or "PlayerKiller" and enjoyed PVP or "Player versus Player" battles. So he has studied many types of spells.
One more thing you guys may like to know. Remember when Ainz cast that super tier magic and summon those dark baby goats? In the Light Novel, the Empire Soldiers were not just scared BUT cried and mumbled for the Kingdom Soldiers to run for their lives as they watch Ainz slaughtered the Kingdom Soldiers, it was so unbelievable that it created a great empathy even for their enemies. They didn't even look at them as their enemies anymore but as fellow humans instead.
They also changed the part that it wasn't a completely desert area. The katze plains had a forest near it and that's where the empire soldiers ran to...
The black and white haired girl with the rubic cube is Zesshi Zetsumei who is the "keeper" of the 6 gods of the Slain Theocracy's items (they were the original players from YGGL). She is a 2nd gen decedent from one of the 6 gods (5 of the 6 gods were "human" players, the 6th was a lich like Ainz, the Lich was the longest living of the origional players from YGGL, however he was killed by a 2nd wave of players known in the new world as the 8 greed kings, another player guild that got transported a few hundred years before ainz), she's a half-elf, and widely considered by most of the powerful creatures of this world to be the strongest creature in the world (even the platinum dragon lord believes this, or he did before he fought Shalltear), part of her strength is she has guild weapons from YGGL. She was first mentioned in season 1 when Clementine was dueling Ainz, and said that he was physically as strong as Zesshi (though was completely unskilled in battle making him much easier to fight, implying that warrior mode Ainz was not Zesshi's equal).
jircnovs empire had a highquality standing royal army , but after that war, most of the soldiers lost faith and changed jobs...even the adventurers will flee the empire but on the other hand will jircnov get some alliances with demihumans under ainz rule.
Maruyama mentioned on Twitter than Zesshi was stronger than Lupusregina when a fan asked which one was stronger. The response doesn't suggest anything about Zesshi being only around the same strength level as Lupusregina.
Finally i finish watching entire Overlord reactions playlist starting episode 5 until episode 39 in 1 day!!!!! When i watching this reaction videos i noticed something, you say *"You know what i'm saying."* or *"You know."* to Stephanie a lot. I mean a lot, you say that on every single Overlord reactions videos. XD
14:15 -- I actually sought out this anime looking for shows of its variety. There are so many "Good" "Heroes Always Win" anime and manga out there, I wanted to see if there was an anime where the MC was hte villian and/or the Villian/Antagonist won in the end. I found this when the first season had just came out, and have been cackling evilly while watching it ever since. XD Needless to say, I'm looking forward to Season 4.
Yeah I like the villain perspective since we see a lot of the "good" side. Code Geass is my second favorite to this in terms of having a villain for a main character.
I actually really enjoy the series because of how dark it is. Ainz is the villain. When he came to this would, he became undead. He still remembers who he was as a human but he lost his emotions. Prepare for the show continue to get darker from here. It isn't anywhere near as bad as the light novel.

Even the one punch man fights weren’t that short, since he froze time, ainz beat Gazef in a fraction of a second, a one punch man punch would take a second to travel through the whole body and kill them
Season 4 wasn't confirmed. It was a translation mistake which caused a big game of broken telephone with the rumors circulating that Maruyama had confirmed it, when in fact it was the Scriptwriter for the anime who had answered the question on the behalf of the studio, stating that they would be willing to make another season.
Guys In MMO or RPG games, the hero is always born while the great wizard or Demon dominates the world and I believe that Ovelord shows us how it is unfolding the conquest of a great future villain.

Gazef can never be resurrected. the spell Ainz used to kill him was called True Death, a 9th tier magic spell that negates any resurrection magic 8th tier and below, but that was in accordance to Gazef's wishes. Gazef was a man that believed in only getting one life and making the best out of it, it is why he strives to achieve so much in his life, because he wanted to live his best life and with that belief came the resolve to never want to be resurrected and he tells Ainz this much before the battle (it is mentioned in Anime, but more so in LN)
Don't know if you guys are up to react to a new "anime", but the one I recommend which is also underrated is called "The King's Avatar" or Quanzhi Gaoshou. It has 12 episodes and 3 OVAs.
There are some more Overlord Contents. Like the CD Drama(It's bassically a non-animated voice story, but had some very enjoyable moments). Especially the comedy gag spinoff series Ple Ple Pleiades season 1, 2 and 3. I'd dare you react to Ple Ple Pleiades. :D
Not gonna spoil everything but in one of the Drama CD, we actually got all the Floor Guardians teaming up to fight against one of the NPC boss from Yggdrasil, and the boss's hp also surpasses all the floor guardians and Ainz combined. Pretty interesting stuff since this drama cd was actually referenced in the light novel.
Pretty sure that the author has said that there won't be another player arriving during the course of the series, which I think is a good way to go about it because right now I have no idea how the story will end. I can easily picture Ainz being victorious, but we also have been teased with Razor Edge that by Ainz's own admission can kill him, and the world item that can mind control anyone (not currently in possession of a world item) could easily lead to another Ainz vs Guardian battle (Shalltear would be appropriate, having the best build to take him down, and being able to showcase how much she's grown since round 1).
Honestly I think the two next season will clearly be better (even though not as great as the novel) because you'll see new aspect of this New World, and also really funny but life-changing misunderstanding (at the scale of a state) By the way I also find it sad that so much informations and scenes are missing from the novel.

That girl playing with a rubix cube is NOT a player but she IS the strongest in the Slane Theocracy because she is the daughter of one, if I remember right. Ainz was not the first player from Yggdrasil, others have been summoned and they landed into the new world in different time lines. The ones before Ainz showed up like 200 years before he did. I think there are other players and other very high level people keeping an eye on things. Ainz Ooal Gown was the most infamous guild in the game. They were the number one pvp guild in it. Six guilds teamed up, with all their players and the npcs they designed, making a literal army of 1500, and they all invaded Nazarick at its prime with the guild at full strength. All 1500 players and npcs made it down to the eight level of Nazarick but were completely wiped out, because of the traps, skills of the guild members and the absolute brilliant design of their own npcs. If any other players are around and they hear of Ainz, they WILL be very, very wary because of that one incident.
Ainz going nuts in Gazef showed how much he respected him. Just like in games, I'm not a very strong PVP player but whenever I duel a player that lacks experience more than I do, I always go at them with full power no matter how inexperienced they are. It's my way of showing respect to them for not holding back and also showing them that there is still much to inprove about their skills. Just my two cents 🤷
Ainz and his subordinate doesn't kill climb and Renner because Renner joined nazarick and betrayed the kingdom you can see Shalltear saying is that the Guy when she foughts brain the second time so that's why she doesn't follow them
Gazef not only wanted to show climb and unglaus the power of ainz as he wanted to die for his king so the king wouldnt loose as much reputation throw his on losses
Random question...i heard that the player "Touch Me" is stronger than ainz? Is that true and another side question for you manga readers... is albedo' s sister "rubedo" really that strong? From what I saw lol say that she is the strongest of all guardians and who is the player that made her?
Yes, Touch Me had one of the best character classes available in the whole game. Ulbert Alain Odle is also stronger than Ainz. Rubedo was also made by Tabula Smaragdina. But there's very little information on her. The only thing in Nazarick that can perhaps over come her is the 8th Floor NPCs, who only Ainz and Victim are allowed to interact with.
you can imagine rubedo as strong as a raid boss, imo, if u have watched log horizon, you will know how difficult to deal with a raid boss, it takes more than just equipment and above 20 high lvl players to subdue one, they also need one hell of strategy and coordination.
so since people say this is dark i can say no one watch deathnote, but the true question is, how was this dark and for who, for ains this was a win and a happy ending, for e-rantel it was also a happy ending, none of the citizens died, if you think about it, only the soldiers died, something that always happen in wars, now under ains rule the nobles wont be taking from the poor, everyone is equal and the undead will do all the work, think about it in carnel village the prince died for nothing that was his fault, he was sent there to gather info not attack the village so he got what he was asking and died. the only dark part of all 13 episodes was the part thats not in the anime or the light novels and thats the twins dying from being raped all day.
Actually many of those 240,000 soldiers were civilians that had joined in to increase their numerical advantage. Basically the Empire had quality so they fired back with quantity. Either way, 180,000 deaths is not something to look so casually at. Yes Death Note was dark, but it was usually criminals Light would kill along with the occasional obstacles in said path. Ainz just slaughtered tens of thousands to prove a point. Also while it can be argued that most of the raiders on Nazarik this season had it coming, Arche and her group didn't deserve what happened. They were the only ones seemingly not doing it just to get rich. They were trying to get money to help Arche and her sisters escape their crumbling lives and were even planning to disband the group after the mission as I recall. Overlord is full of tragedy. Is it the darkest story ever? No, not at all. It is very dark though, and from what I hear from people further into the LN than me, it only continues to get darker and darker.
I mean, Arche and her group still had it coming. Why I say that? Well Ains asked them before the raid started but apparently they didn't speak up and the rest said money and no one objected to that so he thought it was a shallow reason to infiltrate Nazarik. Ains is definitely an undead but you can see subtle signs that a little humanity is left in him since, for example when he had to give rewards and that woman wanted innocent humans so she can enjoy killing he refused that it be innocent humans.
Not even a fight, but Ainz did on a level respect Gazef and gave him a quick and painless death. Compare to others who pissed him off, it was a mercy killing.
the emperor thought ainz's best spell could, at best kill 3k ppl, NOT 200k. I use the higher number, not 70k because the 5 goats which was part of the one spell routed the entire 200k kingdom army

awesome, well it is cheap maybe, but to clarify the level of skill of ainz using time spells and delay magic, les than 5 percent of magicians in ygdrassil could do ti, is quite a powerful skill, by the way he do the same in his fight with foresight, when he vanish and such is time magic.

Lo ye dijo ainz al parar el tiempo es porque, atrás en el juego él era de los pocos que podían usar cronomancia (habilidades para controlar el flujo del tiempo) y era famoso por usarlas junto a hechizos de muerte instantánea en pvp. Por eso lo que dijo de las contramedidas. Un dato curioso, la pelea contra shalltear duro tanto solo porque shalltear era un no-muerto inmune a la muerte instantánea. De no ser así Ainz la había usado sin dudarlo xD (Bueno si la uso, pero fue la más poderosa así que no la contamos)
not carrying about the Real Life is one of the best parts of overlord,...but AInz allready know the informations he is looking for . since he knows all of the books he read ingame - now hes actually reading the books that didnt refer to his lich sorcerer class - and thats why he has problems to remember it. BUT the book which would be essential to resurect his guildmates , ainz had handed down to fluder payne since he taugh he know everything in there( but only passiv he cant remember) thats why he would need the help of fluder / Khajit (which has supposly transfered his sould into the dark gem he had used(which was later on (/inspired) be-sould) so we can assume that we wont hear of this thematic again before the fall of the theocratie. also there are a few of his mates which would be dead in the realtime too like the old slime with the heartproblems and the hacker who fought the gov.
Clarification: Ainz was not their guild leader originally, he as stated many times he mostly did management tasks for the guild, leader was Touch me I believe

To the people upset that Gazef didn't get the honorable duel he wanted, you are all over looking something. Ainz freezing time and using true death is how he pvp'd players in yggdrasil. This is the highest level of respect because despite Gazef being weak. Ainz didn't fool around at all.

And most likely yeah Zesshi is very strong for a human (or in her case half human half elf) but compared to the guardians of nazarick shes still probably not much of a threat. I heard her level is estimated to be around lvl 80 but I dont think that's confirmed. But I'm pretty sure the only New world beings we know of who are stronger than her are the dragon lords.

That's true, but someone like Gazef would have wanted at least a proper duel with Ainz than getting one shotted like that. But I guess they had to save the budget for this last fight lol.
The fight was exactly this way in the light novel too (so it was not a budget decision). Ainz used a high level pvp tactic (back in Yggdrasil, only 5% of the players mastered time stop + delay magic) as a sign of respect. It was out of respect, that he checked the proper conditions for the duel and than gone all out, like he would fight a lvl 100 Player, instead of mocking him.
Ainz was himself. (Visually in the anime Ainz has the red eyeballs and Pandora's Actor when he's transformed in him has not.)
Momon was Pandoras Actor who turned on Ainz and cast True Warrior to be Momon.
magic casters dont need true warrior to use weapons created from magic but the other stuff is acurate

There are multiple reasons why Gazef did not become a subordinate of Ainz, so
I plan to explain why he would prioritize a one-on-one ϐight during the story.
Though Gazef did think about this subject... I wish I revealed several thoughts
on the matter.
Gazef is a good person.
Probably, in regards to the people to appear through the course of Overlord’s
story he is a considerably agreeable/ϐine person.
1: The ϐirst reason was what Climb mentioned. [to draw out information for
possible future ϐights with Ainz Ooal Gown.]
2: The second reason was what Gazef himself said to Ainz about his sword
being in reach [of the enemy commander].
3: The third reason was should he come under Ainz (as a symbol of common-
ers) after being highly evaluated by the King, it may potentially lead to com-
moners being judged to turn traitor as well, resulting in the loss of social mo-
bility of commoners.
[ZN: social mobility is more directly written as climbing the ranks or success
in life so I interpreted more broadly as condemning commoners to permanent
serfdom]
4: The fourth reason is in the case of his subordinates, they would certainly
be used as tools for something (for what kind of purpose they would be used
is unclear to Gazef), but it can be thought it would be their connection will be
concerning enough to cause a huge loss for the Kingdom.
[ZN:Gazef is concerned his band would be sacriϐiced either in retribution or
against him as leverage ]
5: The ϐifth reason is that when the King and First Prince return back safely
(Gazef does not know that the prince is dead at this point), because nobles
who lost a relative will have their antagonism rise. If someone useful to the
King like himself would die, Gazef hopes that a small quantity of the hatred
will be softened.
6: The sixth reason is that the person called Ainz (even though Gazef saw such
a cruel deed) still saved Carne Village, so he thought Ainz to be a man of charac-
ter and not cold-blooded to those he does not view as enemies since he saved
his life, so Gazef did not want to feign an oath of allegiance, because he held
respect for that part of Ainz.
After looking over the present, we can now observe the future, for Gazef it was
a difϐicult question, so he bet on future possibilities.
That outcome will grow from now on and talked about in future releases of
Overlord.
In the light novel it specifies a little more, Momon was Pandoras actor and the girl with the rubix cube you mentioned was one of three "God-Kin" Descendants of the 6 great gods who referred to themselves as "Players." This was explained when she was introduced in the novel so that's not really a spoiler in my opinion.
But next is the (Spoiler Alert!)
The girl with the rubix cube is a half elf "God-Kin" in the mid to upper 70's another one is in the mid upper 50's or lower 60's and another is in the mid to upper 60's, all of their parents are dead accept for the half elf girl whose father is in the lower to mid 80's.
As a reference the "Highest lvl angel" in the first season was approximately lvl 60, the baby goats you just saw were each LVL 80 and Ainz actually has the ability to instant summon 3 LVL 80 Angels (Two tiers above the one in the first season). If I remember correctly the angels he summons is a skill he can use once a day without mana consumption, and it's not a super tier spell either, though I could be wrong. It's actually pretty funny, he does it in public to make himself appear more benevolent but their class of angel all have beast like appearances (vicious animal faces and stuff) so people actually think they are all demons and it has an opposite effect. But back on topic, so the rubix cube girl and her father together wouldn't be a match for Ainz, they might survive one 10'th tier spell or below, but probably not more than that. The only character who has been revealed so far who could even come close to being a challenge for Ainz is the "Dragon God" who you saw in the beginning of this season 2. He's estimated to be in the upper 80's or lower 90's and probably the ability to use the still unseen "Wild Magic" The original magic of this world, it's believed to be more powerful than YGGDRASIL Magic but much harder to use and takes much longer to learn (that's why only long lived races like dragons can learn it) . So his total fighting ability is unknown, but he will definitely end up fighting Ainz in the future, because he guards a world class item (The perfect spell book), it's a spell book that has a list of every known spell in the world up to and including 10'th tier magic. That also includes spells from the new world. When a new spell is created it's automatically added to the spell book, and it gives the user the ability to use any spell it contains. Seeing as how Ainz is a magic caster, well you can see how that's going to play out... But then again he has his guardians so I highly doubt that he will fight the dragon alone.
Oh, this is an unconfirmed theory but I like it, some people think the dragon might be an NPC that outlived its creators. If that's the case then it will not be able to use wild magic but it could be lvl 100.
There is no mention or even hint anywhere in the LN of any "Player" still being alive. The LN confirms that "Players" usually appear every few hundred years and usually with their guild in tact, they make a large change to the world and then usually die either of old age or from fighting other players. It seems that only people from the same guild are transported to the new world at the same time, but there is mention of two players from the same guild who did not know of each-other until it was too late and they ended up fighting to the death. It's possible that another player is alive because it is confirmed that a player lives the designated life span of their race "Since Ainz is undead he can technically live forever." But it's highly unlikely because all of Ainz's guild members quit, even Ainz isn't looking for the actual members but other PC's that they might have created last minute to watch the end of YGGDRASIL. But again everything considered it's highly unlikely that they would even be there with Ainz even if they did come back. The only other possibility is if someone created a PC with an infinite lifespan like an undead but again this is extremely unlikely because in the LN it explains that in YGGDRASIL undead PC's were very heavily persecuted due to the game rules and the normal role of undead in other games, because of this most players who chose undead characters either completely quit or changed their race the first chance they got. So undead PC's like Ainz were actually very rare.
PS. Completely off topic but as a fun note Albedo has two sisters, the older sister (Who is weaker because she was designed first) is Nigredo she specializes in observation and espionage magic, she is the one who cast the spell that allowed the guardians to watch Ainz fight Shaltear, she had a decent role in the LN but they cut her out of the Anime for some reason. The youngest (And quite possibly strongest NPC ever created in YGGDRASIL) is Rubedo, created using an experimental method and a world class item she surpasses lvl 100 and is theoretically as powerful as a world boss. Even Ainz is afraid of her. Maruyama the author of Overlord himself said that Rubedo is superior to Touch-Me, who won the world championship for most powerful YGGDRASIL player. It's also stated in the LN that Rubedo fought against raid party of 1,500 players (Most of which were probably lvl 100) and came out victorious. She exceeded the expectations of the guild when they were preparing to make a final stand.
You are the best I had to read this long as paragraph and I finally know that there is atleast maybe 2 ppl whos stronger than ainz I think I spell it wrong but anyway the guardians probably won't let ainz fight that dragon bc they probably know how powerful it is so and also in LN that girl is that powerful holy hell

No rubedo isnt stronger than ainz. She is on the same level but she would beat him in a 1v1 because she is a close combat specialist. With summons and world class items and full equipment vs rubedo with full equipment, its a toss up but id give it to ainz because he has knowledge and tactics (work arounds, exploits etc...) even if she has both race and class advantages over momonga.
Rubedo won against a raid of 1500 lvl 75+ NPCs and players, not lvl 100 (maybe there were some but not even close to all of them). Ainz himself wouldnt have much problems against lvl 75+ enemies. A dark knight is a lvl 70+ monster for example. Oh and we dont even know how strong mononga/ainz is with the guild staff because he has never used it. I think people hype up rubedo too much.
@@kato093 Ainz would lose to Rubedo even in his full equipment. According to Ainz, only the strongest offensive force in Nazarick could beat Rubedo if they were equipped with World-Class Items. Ainz had all of the things which you said when fighting against Touch Me, but Ainz still never won a single fight against him despite how long Ainz thought about a strategy to defeat Touch Me.
We have no records of Rubedo existing during the 1500 player and mercenary NPC invasion, nor do we know the levels of those invaders. Could you please provide a source for those?
A dark knight is not a monster. You might be mistaking it to a Death Knight, which is roughly level 35. Could you please show how Ainz wouldn't have any problems against multiple level 75+ opponents?
Ainz did use his staff in the Evileye side story, but I do believe that Ainz's full equipment would include the Staff of Ainz Ooal Gown and his World-Class Item. If we also go with the most popular theory on what Rubedo is, a golem made using Caloric Stone, more than one World-Class Item would be just useless to bring to a fight with her.

There was no pain, he did not even realize he died, and his body was left perfectly intact.

This attack combining time stop and delay magic is very difficult, and in the original world it was only a few people who could do it. Actually, Ainz could easily kill Gazef without using such a high level method. I felt that Ainz who was supposed to have lost the human mind showed his respect to Gazef's determination.
Ainz showed how much he respected gazef. Everyone is saying how it was a painless death with the spell. That’s not all he used the time magic because he was treating gazef with respect not holding back

one thing to keep in mind when seeing his killing power(the times he one shots things by himself), is that ains specializes in necromancy, a class that relies on overpowering man power/number to beat an enemy(plus conically ains can cast over 900 spells, where other players are capped at 300, the reason being of his overlord subclass, a subclass of necromancy)

Anyone over level 70 can use time magic. It's time stop + an attack skill that very few can do because the timing has to be 100% precise.

Like others have already said this series has roots in D&D. In D&D there is a 9th lvl spell called Time Stop that does pretty much what it did in this episode. Like, note how the spell didn't actually take effect until after the flow of time returned to normal.

Ainz when he was in the real world was a PK or "PlayerKiller" and enjoyed PVP or "Player versus Player" battles. So he has studied many types of spells.
One more thing you guys may like to know. Remember when Ainz cast that super tier magic and summon those dark baby goats? In the Light Novel, the Empire Soldiers were not just scared BUT cried and mumbled for the Kingdom Soldiers to run for their lives as they watch Ainz slaughtered the Kingdom Soldiers, it was so unbelievable that it created a great empathy even for their enemies. They didn't even look at them as their enemies anymore but as fellow humans instead.
They also changed the part that it wasn't a completely desert area. The katze plains had a forest near it and that's where the empire soldiers ran to...

The black and white haired girl with the rubic cube is Zesshi Zetsumei who is the "keeper" of the 6 gods of the Slain Theocracy's items (they were the original players from YGGL). She is a 2nd gen decedent from one of the 6 gods (5 of the 6 gods were "human" players, the 6th was a lich like Ainz, the Lich was the longest living of the origional players from YGGL, however he was killed by a 2nd wave of players known in the new world as the 8 greed kings, another player guild that got transported a few hundred years before ainz), she's a half-elf, and widely considered by most of the powerful creatures of this world to be the strongest creature in the world (even the platinum dragon lord believes this, or he did before he fought Shalltear), part of her strength is she has guild weapons from YGGL. She was first mentioned in season 1 when Clementine was dueling Ainz, and said that he was physically as strong as Zesshi (though was completely unskilled in battle making him much easier to fight, implying that warrior mode Ainz was not Zesshi's equal).

Maruyama mentioned on Twitter than Zesshi was stronger than Lupusregina when a fan asked which one was stronger. The response doesn't suggest anything about Zesshi being only around the same strength level as Lupusregina.

The creators of this anime have announced a season 4 and a canon movie for Overlord, so far there is no release date but that should be coming soon.
Hopefully for the movie they do the Ainz Oal Gown arc. It's a story showing how the guild got the tomb of nazarick as their base...

14:15 -- I actually sought out this anime looking for shows of its variety. There are so many "Good" "Heroes Always Win" anime and manga out there, I wanted to see if there was an anime where the MC was hte villian and/or the Villian/Antagonist won in the end. I found this when the first season had just came out, and have been cackling evilly while watching it ever since. XD
Needless to say, I'm looking forward to Season 4.
Yeah I like the villain perspective since we see a lot of the "good" side. Code Geass is my second favorite to this in terms of having a villain for a main character.

I actually really enjoy the series because of how dark it is. Ainz is the villain. When he came to this would, he became undead. He still remembers who he was as a human but he lost his emotions. Prepare for the show continue to get darker from here. It isn't anywhere near as bad as the light novel.

Season 4 wasn't confirmed. It was a translation mistake which caused a big game of broken telephone with the rumors circulating that Maruyama had confirmed it, when in fact it was the Scriptwriter for the anime who had answered the question on the behalf of the studio, stating that they would be willing to make another season.
If they ever continue the anime I'd love for them to do the Holy Kingdom arc, even though it's quite far away.
The dwarven kingdom and guild will most likely be first..

Gazef can never be resurrected. the spell Ainz used to kill him was called True Death, a 9th tier magic spell that negates any resurrection magic 8th tier and below, but that was in accordance to Gazef's wishes. Gazef was a man that believed in only getting one life and making the best out of it, it is why he strives to achieve so much in his life, because he wanted to live his best life and with that belief came the resolve to never want to be resurrected and he tells Ainz this much before the battle (it is mentioned in Anime, but more so in LN)
Don't know if you guys are up to react to a new "anime", but the one I recommend which is also underrated is called "The King's Avatar" or Quanzhi Gaoshou. It has 12 episodes and 3 OVAs.

CD Drama, at least some of them, are canon.
Not gonna spoil everything but in one of the Drama CD, we actually got all the Floor Guardians teaming up to fight against one of the NPC boss from Yggdrasil, and the boss's hp also surpasses all the floor guardians and Ainz combined. Pretty interesting stuff since this drama cd was actually referenced in the light novel.

Pretty sure that the author has said that there won't be another player arriving during the course of the series, which I think is a good way to go about it because right now I have no idea how the story will end. I can easily picture Ainz being victorious, but we also have been teased with Razor Edge that by Ainz's own admission can kill him, and the world item that can mind control anyone (not currently in possession of a world item) could easily lead to another Ainz vs Guardian battle (Shalltear would be appropriate, having the best build to take him down, and being able to showcase how much she's grown since round 1).
Honestly I think the two next season will clearly be better (even though not as great as the novel) because you'll see new aspect of this New World, and also really funny but life-changing misunderstanding (at the scale of a state)
By the way I also find it sad that so much informations and scenes are missing from the novel.

Till volume 13 there isn't players yet, but things become really really interesting from this point.
That girl playing with a rubix cube is NOT a player but she IS the strongest in the Slane Theocracy because she is the daughter of one, if I remember right. Ainz was not the first player from Yggdrasil, others have been summoned and they landed into the new world in different time lines. The ones before Ainz showed up like 200 years before he did. I think there are other players and other very high level people keeping an eye on things.
Ainz Ooal Gown was the most infamous guild in the game. They were the number one pvp guild in it. Six guilds teamed up, with all their players and the npcs they designed, making a literal army of 1500, and they all invaded Nazarick at its prime with the guild at full strength.
All 1500 players and npcs made it down to the eight level of Nazarick but were completely wiped out, because of the traps, skills of the guild members and the absolute brilliant design of their own npcs.
If any other players are around and they hear of Ainz, they WILL be very, very wary because of that one incident.

Ainz going nuts in Gazef showed how much he respected him. Just like in games, I'm not a very strong PVP player but whenever I duel a player that lacks experience more than I do, I always go at them with full power no matter how inexperienced they are. It's my way of showing respect to them for not holding back and also showing them that there is still much to inprove about their skills. Just my two cents 🤷

Gazef not only wanted to show climb and unglaus the power of ainz as he wanted to die for his king so the king wouldnt loose as much reputation throw his on losses

Random question...i heard that the player "Touch Me" is stronger than ainz? Is that true and another side question for you manga readers... is albedo' s sister "rubedo" really that strong? From what I saw lol say that she is the strongest of all guardians and who is the player that made her?
Yes, Touch Me had one of the best character classes available in the whole game. Ulbert Alain Odle is also stronger than Ainz.
Rubedo was also made by Tabula Smaragdina. But there's very little information on her. The only thing in Nazarick that can perhaps over come her is the 8th Floor NPCs, who only Ainz and Victim are allowed to interact with.

you can imagine rubedo as strong as a raid boss, imo, if u have watched log horizon, you will know how difficult to deal with a raid boss, it takes more than just equipment and above 20 high lvl players to subdue one, they also need one hell of strategy and coordination.
in comparison to other 40 supreme beings, ainz/momonga ain't that strong

That time stop was used earlier in season 1 ....... but this time it was kinda stealthy...
so since people say this is dark i can say no one watch deathnote, but the true question is, how was this dark and for who, for ains this was a win and a happy ending, for e-rantel it was also a happy ending, none of the citizens died, if you think about it, only the soldiers died, something that always happen in wars, now under ains rule the nobles wont be taking from the poor, everyone is equal and the undead will do all the work, think about it in carnel village the prince died for nothing that was his fault, he was sent there to gather info not attack the village so he got what he was asking and died. the only dark part of all 13 episodes was the part thats not in the anime or the light novels and thats the twins dying from being raped all day.
Actually many of those 240,000 soldiers were civilians that had joined in to increase their numerical advantage. Basically the Empire had quality so they fired back with quantity. Either way, 180,000 deaths is not something to look so casually at. Yes Death Note was dark, but it was usually criminals Light would kill along with the occasional obstacles in said path. Ainz just slaughtered tens of thousands to prove a point. Also while it can be argued that most of the raiders on Nazarik this season had it coming, Arche and her group didn't deserve what happened. They were the only ones seemingly not doing it just to get rich. They were trying to get money to help Arche and her sisters escape their crumbling lives and were even planning to disband the group after the mission as I recall. Overlord is full of tragedy. Is it the darkest story ever? No, not at all. It is very dark though, and from what I hear from people further into the LN than me, it only continues to get darker and darker.
I don't know if foresight deserves or not what happened to them after they triggered Ainz about his friends.
I mean, Arche and her group still had it coming. Why I say that? Well Ains asked them before the raid started but apparently they didn't speak up and the rest said money and no one objected to that so he thought it was a shallow reason to infiltrate Nazarik. Ains is definitely an undead but you can see subtle signs that a little humanity is left in him since, for example when he had to give rewards and that woman wanted innocent humans so she can enjoy killing he refused that it be innocent humans.
Not even a fight, but Ainz did on a level respect Gazef and gave him a quick and painless death. Compare to others who pissed him off, it was a mercy killing.
the emperor thought ainz's best spell could, at best kill 3k ppl, NOT 200k. I use the higher number, not 70k because the 5 goats which was part of the one spell routed the entire 200k kingdom army
If you want to see Ainz have a real fight then I can promise you that the next fight Ainz will participate in will be long and fair
In case you wondering, "real world" is pretty grim too - the biosphere is failing, air is polluted (MC actually never seen real stars in his while life until he entered the new world), social divide is tearing society apart, ruthless transcontinental mega-corporations rule the world. Pretty much the standard cyberpunk.

awesome, well it is cheap maybe, but to clarify the level of skill of ainz using time spells and delay magic, les than 5 percent of magicians in ygdrassil could do ti, is quite a powerful skill, by the way he do the same in his fight with foresight, when he vanish and such is time magic.

Lo ye dijo ainz al parar el tiempo es porque, atrás en el juego él era de los pocos que podían usar cronomancia (habilidades para controlar el flujo del tiempo) y era famoso por usarlas junto a hechizos de muerte instantánea en pvp.
Por eso lo que dijo de las contramedidas.
Un dato curioso, la pelea contra shalltear duro tanto solo porque shalltear era un no-muerto inmune a la muerte instantánea.
De no ser así Ainz la había usado sin dudarlo xD

not carrying about the Real Life is one of the best parts of overlord,...but AInz allready know the informations he is looking for . since he knows all of the books he read ingame - now hes actually reading the books that didnt refer to his lich sorcerer class - and thats why he has problems to remember it. BUT the book which would be essential to resurect his guildmates , ainz had handed down to fluder payne since he taugh he know everything in there( but only passiv he cant remember) thats why he would need the help of fluder / Khajit (which has supposly transfered his sould into the dark gem he had used(which was later on (/inspired) be-sould) so we can assume that we wont hear of this thematic again before the fall of the theocratie.
also there are a few of his mates which would be dead in the realtime too like the old slime with the heartproblems and the hacker who fought the gov.
Clarification: Ainz was not their guild leader originally, he as stated many times he mostly did management tasks for the guild, leader was Touch me I believe
Touch me gathered the original 9 and created the guild eventually as more joined they voted for momonga to be guild leader instead
the cube girl is NOT a player and her estimated strength is level 70-80. powerful, but weaker then floor gurdians
