    Feels like a precursor to the UL710 if the UL series went a different way. :)

      This has exactly the same power amp but the key difference is the preamp. The 710 was an all valve affair. This is purely transistor. The reverb tray and reverb driver transformer is all they have in common

      @@SteveWalsh730 Actually I should have said the UL715. Actually was the 710T ever made? I looked on the Vox Showroom site and their is a mention of the 710T but not sure if they actually took the 715 and just did the power section like they did with the ac10. Great video man, I’ve enjoyed it a lot. :)

    Always interesting to hear your creations and restorations! I was thinking that a preamp out could be added after the driver transformer in some way on my 1968 defiant. Have not figured out the details though.

      Thanks Nicklas. The output signal from the preamp comes out at approx 1.5v RMS. What I have seen done in the past is an extra jack socket drilled in the back, feeding that signal straight out. If you have an earlier model with the standby, you don't even need to switch on the power amp. However, what I have seen done, probably a combination of factors, was a F bass head blown by a band who plugged the speaker in the wrong output, got no sound, then changed the voltage selector to 225v instead of 245v. Boom.

      Seems the standby switch just disconnect the speaker and switches the standby light. I would assume it is ok to play the amp like this? Feeding another power amp while on standby?

      Sends the output through a 6w 15r resistor ,0.22uf cap and 0r5 resistor to ground. Find to do.

    What happens if you try to switch on the distortion while playing through the brilliant channel?

      @SteveWalsh730  Рік тому

      The distortion is on the brilliant channel.

      @@SteveWalsh730 how do you figure George got all those bright, distorted tones on songs like Back In The USSR, Glass Onion, Birthday, Savoy Truffle and other White Album tracks? Did he turn the treble up on the Brilliant channel, or possibly use a Fender amp?

    • @SteveWalsh730
      @SteveWalsh730  Рік тому

      There's so many variations available on this channel. It's naturally exceedingly treble heavy to start with. Adding in the Mid Range Boost spices things up a bit. The variable distortion enables a lot of different levels of distortion as well.

      @@SteveWalsh730 the only songs on which I can distinctly hear George use the MRB for his solos are "Fixing a Hole" and "Hey Bulldog".

      @@elirosen1391 Not sure about Fixing a Hole. Always thought that was Paul on his Esqure through the Selmer. Never seen any pics of Conquerors in the studio until Magical Mystery Tour.
