This ongoing Video Diary by myself John Neal, sometimes known as John Longcroft-Neal, as the whim takes me.
TODAY’S SUBJECT IS a sunny cycling trip Monday 19th April 2021, along a footpath near the golf course and return route via the canal. Bit of drone footage thrown in and some adorable ducklings.
    GENERAL STUFF
I am retired from two careers of primary school teaching when I was deputy head of a Middle School and Primary School, and as a self employed Chalkboard Artist from 2002 until I reached the grand old age of 65 in 2016.
I play guitar and write songs and have written about 14 songs for the local BBC radio station. I run a weekly (weakly) evening Acoustic session at a local pub and have been doing so for 14 years now. I also started an afternoon acoustic session in a quite large cafe in Nuneaton. Both premises were former songwriting clients of mine.
Much of the music I use on this channel is taken from epidemicsound.com free to use on UA-cam for a reasonable monthly fee, and sometimes I suffer you with my own music.
    Gear that I use:
    Mavic Mini Drone.
Iphone X for camera, generally front facing so I can see myself in frame. Super quality especially if I keep the lens clean.
Gimble is a Q2 Smooth by Zhiyun, I ought to use this more often because it was expensive.
    Canon G7mk2
Rhode videomicro mic with iPhone (if necessary in the wind)
Rhode videomic to do voice over on computer
Video editing with Final Cut Pro X
Polarduck Mini Tripod for mobile phone. This is so good and under £10.00 I bought two.
Small Gorilla tripod but I tend to prefer the Polarduck.
Tall Tripod is a Velbon CX 540
Mono pod is a Manfrotto Compact MMC3-02 and is very useful for getting high angles that look like low flight drone shots and so easy to carry on my bike along with the mini tripod.

    Great video John.
Interesting that if you turned left after that first stop (after Crowhill Rec) then you would follow the path and soon end up on the A5 next to the Lime Kilns pub in Hinckley only a short ride back to your house. Keep the vlogs coming , cheers Marc Malyon

Thanks Marc. Yes I did take that route down from the A5 recently the road is called Hyde Lane. And that led me to exploring these pathways as well. Thanks for watching.

Hi John, loved the video, did you go all the way down the towpath to the end of the Ashby Canal to Marston Junction? The reason I'm asking for is that I liked your video at the Nook in Bedworth, and I have found the way to get there from Hinckley where I live is, along the canal from the Lime Kilns to the end of the canal then up Marston lane, are the towpath's alright to cycle along?
