It actually worked today for a wolf spider trap. I was a distance away with my crossbow. I waited till he stepped in and shot him. He could not seem to pathfind his way out. 🤔. 🤷♂️ so I'm using it now as a trap for them. I built mine in the same place and one of the spiders walks right through that area.
This would probably even more efficient on the island near the hedge with the Frog toy. That island has so many aphids you can't go 2 feet without tripping over one. There are also gnats nearby
To catch tons of gnats, build a funnel under the garden light, at night shoot 2 or 3 gas arrows right under the light, get ready to sing : "It's raining gnats, hallelujah !!!"

No longer works. Something in their AI must've been changed, as they only go up to the edge of the clover roofs and stop, and circle it, repeating the process. Experimented with differing heights, materials, etc, nothing seems to change it.
I think that spot is really good because im pretty sure its right beside two aphid spawns, one forsure. If you go into Design mode in Playgrounds you can find all the spawn locations of bugs in your area so you can make the most efficient farm in whatever part of the yard you are in.
I like that this game doesn't explicitly have bug traps you can craft, but rather necessitates creativity like this build. This is sorta how a real trap would work which I love

This will not work anymore. Do not try because they stopped the bugs from climbing. I did leave food in my house and they went up stairs, so maybe you could do this using stairs and walls and have them drop down? All I know was my house was filled and I shut the door and killed them all.
that locarion is the best spot on the whole map to set that trap up its a spawn location for wevils and aphids if u hang tadpole meat u also get 2 pieces for every 1 u hang

For mosquitos I made a structure out of stem scaffolding and laid spike traps across, making sort of a tunnel. I would grab the mosquito aggro [the never ending aggro!] run underneath the spike traps and stop right at the outside 'exit'. The mosquito would then drag itself along the spikes and die. IIRC I used 8-10 spike traps and the mosquitos would die consistently in one drag across.
Not only do I get unlimited food but im getting all my mutations for weapons this way, somehow those bastard ants still make it inside though but its okay, I play this game by killing literally every bug I come across so I don't mind extra things to wack lol
Thank you for this! I built it in my game, but it doesn't work. When the weevil goes up the ramp, it gets to the edge, and stops. It doesn't go in. Even when another Weevil goes behind it, they stack up instead of going in. Is it because I'm using grass walls instead of weed walls?
there is also a build location at the top of the tree were the branchs y off u have to fall into it or on the picnic table side there is a place to walk into the tree ar the top.
Thanks for the video! Probably really late but I tried it before the latest update (termites)...did not work. Same build with the clover roofs. After that (same save) didn't work either. When I started venturing into the koi pond it worked after that. Try that, might not need the feather build.
Works on big spiders too, I use it to milk spiders for webs u just shoot the spiders a lil , makem mad and they shoot webs as u run around the trap, the spider can't get out unless it destroys the trap.
I never understood why developers nerf things like this. You use the game mechanics to overcome a problem you have and the dev's go ... nope we can't have that and nerf it. Its not like it breaks the game or anything it actually makes sense for the game. We create traps to catch animals in real life so why not in a game. All the dev's do by doing this is make the game more tedious and boring. They're doing the same with 7 days to die by stopping you from using dynamite to find buried treasure in alpha 20. So now you have to sit there digging a huge hole. The reason people were using dynamite to do it should tell you something about that mechanic in your game.
Yep. I was annoyed to see this issue.. now I have a big stupid wasted structure on my pond deck. I could see them nerfing this once they actually have cooking that people care about but right not its juts roast a bug and eat it. Idiots.
@@blackwolf721000 Did you build it in creative or in the actual game because it does make a difference. The old way of doing it works in creative but not in the normal mode.
I have built 3 of these around my base to no avail, my base is where you built it and I end up finding more things within my gates than I do in the trap.
It still works for me I put a few mushrooms on the floor piece in the middle and there were so many Weevils I couldn’t pick up all the raw Weevil meat.
I just do aphids mainly cause of how the ants have a like on sight beef with the weevil's I've gotten 1-2 ants in the trap before and they cause utter havoc when a weevil enters unless it's just bugged for me if an ant gets in it kills any weevil that gets in the trap.

The Hot and Hazy update screwed up this trap. And them making everything made with bug parts degrade over time so you have to keep repairing them was a b***h a$$ move. They only did that so you have to keep investing time to play the game just to farm for said parts instead of actually playing and having fun.
...Can't like until I test it. I got high hopes though. P.s. just built big Alphid pet just the other side of that juice box cuz it is safer (wolf paths by there often) only to recall after investing in the build that... pretty sure aphids only produce dew on dirt. If this works, my tears will be dried and I'll simply have an excessively big weeVilla built. I'll keep actual pets in the nearby can that holds my original 2 pet houses. ...I think the pets don't get along.
And easy to build a trap that attracts ants and weevils is put a mushroom inside of the mints thing it might cause a lot of lag because of the ants and weevils that get on top but you can figure that out if you figure this out and the reason why it attracts ants is because ants love to eat weevils and there is the ant nest nearby
Great trap idea, but I think this may have been patched T_T I built it in the same location and only got a max of 5 aphids, and that was with 4 x food sitting in the middle. Also apparently insects now DO walk up steps. Had an ant come up to my base to steal stuff. Very annoying >_>
It stopped working when the new update dropped. You can get rid of the half walls behind the clover roofs and Weevils will drop in but for some reason Aphids won’t.
#Patched I do believe it's been patched to stop bugs from being attracted to slurries. I hope Im wrong but this didn't work for me. Side note : gnats are much easier to farm and plenty of them near the lantern by the pond.

This is true. 3 jerky racks (for now) and a mosquito sword = tons of jerky each night. I didn't build the funnel but I might thanks for the idea!

Yep just tested and the AI will no longer fall, possible use down ramps and shoot from afar is my best bet
If you remove the half walls behind the clover roofs weevils will fall in but aphids will not.
@@MediocreMilton I did test this, too. Aphids simply refuse to cooperate. Would be nice to get something else like this again, though.

Fill it with multiple picked mushrooms and it attracts weevils better. The slurry disappears, mushrooms do not disapear.

For some reason they won't drop down in my game.. they walk up the ramp over and over but won't actually drop down inside the box... any ideas?

Sometimes big critters like spiders or ladybugs get stuck on the trap edges. A good spot to kill wolf spiders without much danger.

It doesn't work nearly as efficiently. They get stuck at the edge of the top and stay there hugging the edge not getting in

Wolf spiders; if you didn’t have arachnophobia before, well you do now.
It works for me if I use crow roofs with no straight vertical walls and no corner roofs.
Also a good way to disable them from getting stuck under the rocks near the pond and the juice box :)
I built this but unlike yours in mine the weevils and aphids climb to the top then turn around and go back down. Did I miss something

There are a lot of weeds between the pond and oak tree. If you leave the bottom piece they grow back every couple of days.
I Always Put mushrooms on the circular thingy in the Strange Machine and get weevilgeddon

You can't switch the difficulty on Xbox or PC. Once you choose the difficulty it's locked in. You can only unlock achievements in survival.

I just drop some food on top of my zipline towers, and the insects stay around the base, easy to walk up and feed anytime.

Crow Feathers drop randomly so there’s no guaranteed spots to find them. Best places are bottom of the Bird Bath and around the Mysterious Machine.

wrong, plant slurries attract aphids,mushroom slurries attract weevils, weevils attract ants
