Hi guys! Thanks for tuning in! This week we're going to keep going on the 1960 Chevy Impala I bought from Tom a couple of years ago... I have a Chevy Biscayne sedan for a donor, and it is time to see if we can save the Impala by grafting it to the bottom of the solid Biscayne! I did a 1960 Plymouth Fury a few years ago, so it'll be a similar job, overall... This week is mostly about stripping out the Impala, and we'll make the first cut to the Biscayne... Then: Over to the GCFCE to install the engine for the 1959 Buick LeSabre on the run stand so we can break it in... Looks like Dan has been shopping again! Check out our new 1937 Chevy T-shirt; only available for a couple of more days! It's at coldwarmotors.com Our 8mm film is back from the developer; I'll be including bits of it in the next several weeks' videos... Hope you enjoy these clips; I cropped them to fit this time. Special thanks to Steve Dean and Niagara Film Labs in Toronto. Thanks to everyone who subscribed to our channel here, and thanks also for all of your "likes" and comments!

Really admire Scott for embarking on another project like this when thinking of everything that went into the Fury: bodywork, paint, interior, stainless trim....
The Plymouth and now the Chevy are really, really what majorly sets you guys apart from anything else on UA-cam. No one else wants to work this hard, or think this hard. Hats off to you!

Hi James, I like that. Could be the start of a scary story told around the camp fire or maybe the hero in a romantic novel. Either or an epic tale of automotive endeavour. Cheers from Australia 🇦🇺
It's amazing some of the stuff you all do with splicing these cars. Not easy by any means. Also great you have friends to help out with all of these projects. Cheers!
I had to laugh when Scott informed Tom that the best reason for putting a manual transmission in the Impala was because the "kids can't steal it" (implying that they don't know how to drive a standard anymore). He's right. Even overseas the kids don't want to deal with manual shifting. My French Grandsons are 4 years apart and are new drivers. The 21 year old failed his driver's license 3 times and finally got it on his fourth. He'd been trying since 18 years of age and only got it in the last month of his being 19 years of age. All throughout this period of trying and failure he would complain about how he would grind or miss gears; how backing up to park was disastrous (especially on a hill), how annoying stop and go traffic was and how hard it was to begin to roll forward without stalling when stopped at a stop light that just turned green when the roadway was in an uphill angle. In France there are two types of driver's licenses. One for manual transmissions and one for automatics. Years ago virtually 85% of the population opted for the manual transmission license because cars with manuals were a lot cheaper than cars with automatic transmissions. Another factor was that Many if not most European cars hadn't exactly perfected the automatic transmission except in expensive luxury or imported American built cars. So the Renaults, Citroëns, VW's, FIATS and Vauxhalls all came with manuals. With the massive importation of East Asian and Made-in-and-for-European-Market Fords, Chevrolets and Chryslers, (the last Name being rebranded as Lancias by FIAT after they took over) Automatic transmissions became available at nominal cost differences. Fuel prices were no longer a problem because most EU member nations began regulating fuel prices at the pump and because the EU collectively negotiated prices with petroleum producers for massive purchases and distributions to their zones. For 100€ more you could now buy a Corolla, KIA, Mazda or Subaru with an Automatic, Fords and Chevys sold their units at almost the same price, whether it was an Automatic or a manual and Native EU car builders like Volvo and VW began building low price range class cars with packages that included automatics and standard shifts being the option. The new generation of drivers, like my youngest grandson who's almost 4 years younger than his 21 year old brother took his road test on an Automatic 5 weeks after his 18th Birthday and passed it first time around. His parent's don't have an Automatic transmission car, but my wife and I do. Guess who's always offering to chauffer my wife (who really hates to drive) to the grocery store or the Mall all the time? Guess who's always pestering his father to buy a new car with an automatic and trade in the old 27 year old Citroën Saxo with almost 200K KM's on the clock? ...And he just might get his way as my son-in-law borrowed my "automatic" car for a couple of weeks when he had a minor left foot operation. He (at 48 years old) suddenly fell in love with the idea of not needing to shift all the time in urban settings.
I'm in Nice right now. Posh, ain't it? 😮 We rented a rorty lil' Renault in Caen. I requested a manual. It got quiet at Enterprise. "Is monsieur sure?" He was. Kid at the lot asked again. I assured him I'd return the car with a functional clutch and all five gears. I envy you and your family. France still drives for fun.
@@danjohnston3422 Yes, the French are driving "fighter aces" whenever they get the chance. I was very accustomed to city driving when I lived back in New York State and would take a day trip to the Big Apple, however, when driving in Paris, It was an entirely new ball game. This happened last summer. Imagine being stopped at a red light with your left turn signal on and about a foot to 18 inches of space between the left side of your car and the cement divider island that separates the direction of travel. Now imagine that while you're waiting, a normal sized French car, drives up along side of your "left side" with one tire in the 1 foot to 18" space and the rest of the car up on the divider Island. Not only that but this car also has it's left blinker on and is anticipating the green light so is revving the engine for when it changes because he's anticipating that I won't let him get ahead of me. Being the B.Buster that I am, I too rev my engine but when the light turns green I let him peel off (bouncing his car very hard as it falls off the divider) and swaying hard to the right side by centrifugal force as it turns left, only to advance another 100 meters where another red signal was waiting for him. The entire time I was stopped (behind him ) at the second light, His eyes were fixed on his driver's side mirror to see if I was planning to pull along side of him or to get out to yell at him. I never did and this time when this light turned green, he took off as though someone said his mother was on her death bed and wanted to see him one last time. I don't want to even get started with the two wheelers... from the electric bicycles, to the electric foot scooters, to the motor scooters to the Motorcycles. They all believe they're Eval Kneival!

I remember the episode well where Scott went and visited Tom with the intent of checking out the Impala. Low and behold Tom pulled a true Tom Sawyer. "Whitewashing this fence is so much fun, Scott!!" With that Scott couldn't help himself and bought the Impala and here we are!
@CasperthefriendlyG10T (In humor, with an eye toward the British history in Canada) We honor these 2 brave souls, one giving its own life that the other may continue; brothers in birth, soldiering on their own path til twixt they meet again. Biscala & Impayne, may one continue in harmony, thine other in peace.
Great minds at Cold War Motors visualizing a future 2-door 60 Biscayne, it seems a crazy magic trick to me, but it is in their minds. The 60 Fury began this way and it's amazing, this is exciting. Go Cold War Motors. God bless Tom, and his thicker rubber doors seals solution.

👍 Here's the requested thumbs up for Ash and another one 👍 for Myles of course. Thanks for helping to start another epic splice job, guys. 👌👏 I hope and pray that it will not take as long as the famous/stunning Fury splice. Best regards, luck and especially health to all of you.
I like how Scott loosens a bolt on the passenger door and the glove box opens. Connected? Everything looks nice and shinny in the rain. All looking good for the splice. Keith's Rover is a treat to see every time he comes by. Dan might have a car purchasing problem! Unlike Dean, Dan finds cars that are in pretty good condition or have exceptional parts. It is nice that Dean wants to save everything but it just impactable. The nail head looks good on the stand. Shout out to Ash and Myles for sticking it out in the rain and really doing a fine job on the prep for the splice. Great episode! Thank you Scott and the team!!
The Impala is gonna turn out awesome I know it. Myles and Ash are troopers for dealing with that rain lol. Can’t wait to hear that Nailhead run too. Cheers guys 🍻
Thanks to Ash, Myles and all the agents(and foreman) who make each Saturday video so much fun to watch. Loving the splice and any updates from Dan's garage.
I dated a gal in highschool, early 2000's, and her dad had a 61 Biscayne sitting in the weeds behind their house. 100% original end to end. 327 4 speed pearl white Van Nuys built and not a speck of rust, which was unusual in Southwest Nebraska. He always told me he didn't really want it but he'd never sell it. When his best friend died, he gave the car to his deceased best friend's teenager son. Engine got pulled and put into about an 87 Camaro(that got wrecked) and the Biscayne carcass went to the crusher. It's been a painful story for me ever since. Love seeing these two cars become one to save a great great piece of automotive history! My mom's first car was an army green 59 Chevy so these cars have always been a part of my history growing up!!
What a great way to spend an afternoon, watching the splice series. Looking forward to more! The Buick is looking good on the stand, can't wait to hear it run. Thanks to you and all the agents for the effort! Have a great week and try to stay dry, here it been in the 100's.
Hats off to Ashley and Myles for the work they put in on starting the GM splice. The engine stand episodes from the GCFCE are something to eagerly anticipate. Would be fantastic to see the first generation Hemi run. Thank You for Your efforts Scott. Best Wishes to everyone at Cold War Motors, their Families and Friends.
I said it before, it's great to have friends that are willing to help with your car adventures. 👍 Ash and Myles. Looking forward to seeing more. An Impala shirt ? Put me down for one. Cheers ❤👍✌️😎
I thought that you had Dan talked into trying to get the Dart started, he was right there, and backed away. I'm excited to hear the Buick engine fire up.
Very excited for this project. Absolutely loved the fury splice a thon. The next edition of the splice is right should be just as much fun. Thank you for bringing us along for the adventure Scott!!

Cheers to Ash and Myles for helping out and getting all that trim without damaging it.
Thanks Scott !!!!
Your make it a lowrider comment had me shouting YES!!!
Imagine the crazy fun you could have with the paint and interior.
The Impala is gonna turn out awesome I know it. Myles and Ash are troopers for dealing with that rain lol. Can’t wait to hear that Nailhead run too. Cheers guys 🍻
Nice job getting the engine over to the GCFCE and on the engine stand. It's always fun to see what Dan has over there. Cheers!
Thanks to Ash, Myles and all the agents(and foreman) who make each Saturday video so much fun to watch. Loving the splice and any updates from Dan's garage.
Really excited to see the splice happening. I love that stuff.
Cheers!

Gary is looking for his gas can.
Best music on youtube
The old 60 Chevy was roached! Can't wait to watch the progress.
It's gonna be me, I desperately want to see the 76 dart run, plus it's a 4 speed! Drag race before destruction please.
What a great way to spend an afternoon, watching the splice series. Looking forward to more! The Buick is looking good on the stand, can't wait to hear it run. Thanks to you and all the agents for the effort! Have a great week and try to stay dry, here it been in the 100's.
Will it run? C’mon, small block Chevy V8. Of course it will run!!
Revivals on SBCs are embarrassingly easy unless something is profoundly wrong with the engine
Excellent. You cover a heck of a lot of ground. Very efficient. The 'Chevy splice' is an awesome project.
I hope this new Impala build is equally interesting as the Fury build. I'm going to watch this!
Hopefully Tom gets to drive it around once in awhile.
I’m looking forward to the build of what I would like to call, a movie car. Thank you for bringing me along for the ride.
Time to see Can-a-day in a Splice-o-let!
This is an amazing project!!
Keith's Rover is looking NICE.
You really have something special here…your friends always bring a lot to the table…the new lift is gonna be amazing you deserve it
Great to see friends jump in to be apart of your projects, you must be excited for the car lift, keep up the great content
Great updates liking the Biscayne build
Love to hear Dan's 360 run...
I love the sixty Impala never had one but it's a beautiful car and what you do to these rotted out cars is amazing.
A good start on the next splice. Looking forward to the finished result.
Splicorama!!!
I like the Fury more, but the Impala will be another amazing splice, no doubt. That 58 Studebaker in the background is like "When is my turn?"
Great work guys
Great episode
Thanks
Everyone needs a Tom in their life.❤️
Still loving the splice! Looking forward to the cutting. See you Thursday.
Kyle starts off the weekend on Friday and CWM picks it up on Saturday. Thanks for the video 😊
Very excited for this project. Absolutely loved the fury splice a thon. The next edition of the splice is right should be just as much fun. Thank you for bringing us along for the adventure Scott!!
@DereksGarage My bet is the 61 Plymouth 2door is next.
@@jamesthompson8008 could be. I was hoping for the 58 Savoy but now that he has the 60 fury I don't know if that car is still on the list or not.
@@DereksGarage OH, I'd say both of those & probably more are on the list; though I think the priority of the list is still fluid depending on varying circumstances. (We're all like that, huh?)
Thank you, great episode, action-packed! Putting in a vote to have a 'Will It Run?' on the yellow Dart over at GCFCE HQ. Many thanks all, a shining beacon of light from far away Alb. 👍😊
