With my modern day AR15 rifle (16" barrel) coupled with a zeroed red dot and a 3 x magnifier, I get consistent 8" groups at 100 yards. If I just use the red dot it gets harder. So, yeah, the optics are critical at the distance here, 146 yards. If Crooks had a proper scope of say 1-6, had it zeroed, and had trained with it, at 146 yards it would not have been difficult to land a shot through Trump's head. Maybe a good thing he didn't have a decent scope.

I totally agree with that statement, Sir.
He had the affordable DPMS DR-15 M4 5.56 Nato that his dad purchased 11 years ago, which is a semi-automatic rifle and not a sniper rifle by any means, and with a EOTECH non-magnifying optic.
Now, try to see what you see through such non-magnifying optic, and at 150yd !

      Yes of course.
He went under-equipped, experienced but not enough, which made him go for the head instead of the upper torso which would have been terminal for any person who's nearly 80 y.o.
Some say he got chosen to do that, well, if it's the case, the ones who supposedly chose him definitely picked the wrong one, 'cause now trump's going to win, and he's rightfully angry after what happened, and he's now aware of what his enemies are capable of, so he's not going to make any security errors ever again. He's bulletproof now. I'm not a fan of trump, nor a fan of any of his democrat opponents, but that's what's going to happen.

@@TheWorstManOnEarth honestly I think it was Vaush who said years ago that "if anyone were to kill the president (in a video game - they say on twitch to escape a ban) that they should do it with an AR-15 without any optical advantage so that all AR-15s can be banned" ... and undoubtedly Thomas Matthew Crooks dropped by probably both destiny's chat and vaush chat saying he would do it.
just sayin' those ppl encouraged the act and they will be held accountable by the government eventually.

The murderer was onsite and reconned the area hours before the rally....dude you don't know what you are talking about. The cop wasn't actually on the roof, he had been boosted up on the ledge by another cop and had only pulled himself up enough to see the shooter and then when the shooter pointed his gun at the cop, the cop let go and dropped/fell to the ground. He was actually injured from that interaction

    Good video mate.
Listen to all the audio of the shooting and any same person without a hearing impairment can hear that the first three shots sound completely different to the next five shots. You do not need to be a forensic analyst to hear that. I'm not coming up with theories as to why they sound completely different, I merely stating the obvious.

I got into a minor argument with someone about this. Given it was a real life situation, which is lost on most people, was rushed into shooting before planned, he came damn close on the first shot. Damn close. He may not be good. But calling him bad doesn’t tell the whole story either. Also don’t feel bad. My father went to basic in fort Polk middle of August, his drill sergeants loved him, which he said did nothing for him but have to build a deck and paint the dudes house for free lol. So it’s bad on either side of the coin.

He wasn't an expert shooter by any means but he wasn't God awful either. There's actually a fair few people in the army infantry who are not great shots and he would have been good enough to pass at range week.. If that shot had been made on the range it would have been within the target space. He also zeroed his weapon before taking the shot without being able to take any shots beforehand which is quite impressive on its own and shows he had some marksmanship knowledge. Not condoning the attempted assassination of course. He was a very troubled man.
