I began my training under my Si-hing whom passed away before I could meet another teacher. He pointed me to these videos years ago. This truly is a gift to the Martial Community at large to have such a legendary figure show us how it's done. Stay training, my martial brethren and greetings from USA and Taldera.
True Wing Chun master, son of the legendary Ip Man, as well Ip Chun is became an amazing master of this valid martial art. This Siu Lim Tao is the best one you can see and learn from an online video. Would be a pleasure to meet him in person Proud to have chosen to practice Wing Chun long time ago.
Recently took up wing Chun again after 8 yrs I'm 24 now and intermediate at the art. My school has sashes we get and I'm almost a black belt 2 more sashes and I'll be a black belt. It takes along time to achieve it. But I am determined and enjoy it so much and train 6 days week. My next form I'm learning is biu gee
It’s really amazing to see some variation between Grandmasters Ip Chun and Ip Ching. Two that stood out to me were the fisting then chambering (Grandmaster Ip Chun almost puts emphasis on raising his hands at the end while Ip Ching is much more subtle if he raises at all), also same with the fook sau (ie strong emphasis at the end). Can anyone dare say either is wrong?
For those who are wondering about why he's starting with the other hand. This video is flipped 180 degrees, you can tell because the characters are flipped around by that degree. 😉
i no longer use my martial arts to subdue the outside opponent. For the greatest opponent i have to face is the one within. That is, the devil that lurks hidden. ever ready to strike at a moment notice I pray that i tame this-self to the point in which i bring out the angel within. i hate violence, and walk no more in its company, for it only leaves a trail of destruction, and we were made to be better than that. may all of your days be filled with serenity and peace
Ip Man, Wong Shun Leung, William Cheung, they start everything in the Taos with the left hand and then follows the right, Ip Chun starts with the right and goes to the left. This is just to say that every GrandMaster modifies the system according to their own experiences, even Ip Man did so too when he combined experiences from 3 different Sifus and added his own too.
@@c_mouse Actually Casey, because I am a Sifu myself and train Wing Chun for nearly 30 years and have trained in 5 different lineages and mastered one, this seemed very wrong to me, because there is a reason that they always start from the left and it has to do with the philosophy behind the fight on the blind side theory. So after I saw this video I couldn't but wonder what's going on here, because I know that all Masters modify the system but that is basics and foundations so you cant teach it like that, thus I had to call a Master in London who has trained with both of Ip Man's son and ask him and he confirmed to me that Ip Chun was also teaching the Taos like everyone else does, meaning from left to right, so the video is obviously flipped, and not to make things easier to follow but probably accidentally. Good luck with continuing your training, no matter what your lineage is, if it suits you, it's good enough and better than the others, so keep it up.
@@Mario-R-3232 I’m new to sil lim Tao and have been following this video, I’ve been starting with the left! accidentally I suppose without realising it mattered. Why is there only 2 fuk sau on one hand and 3 on the other? Curious only.
@@garrydew1001 Because it's wrong. They should be 3 from both sides. This is not a good video to watch Sil Lim Tao, find another one, depending on the Lineage you wish to follow.
@@Mario-R-3232 oh ok! Any you could recommend? I’m not to fussed on any particular style it’s more for the concentration and meditative purpose for now. Thank you BTW
@@garrydew1001 That is a very difficult question and any reply could raise conflicts among followers of different lineages. Wing Chun usually is divided to: 1. Ip Man lineages and 2. non Ip Man lineages. So as far as non Ip Man lineages is concerned, I would suggest: 1. Master Wong Nim Yi from Mei Gai Wong Wing Chun, 2. Master Eddie Chong from Pan Nam Wing Chun, 3. Garrett Gee from Red Boat Wing Chun. As far as Ip Man lineages are concerned, it's well known that his best students were Wong Sheun Leung and William Cheung, but of course, we cannot leave his sons behind, meaning Ip Chun and Ip Ching. So there is a Chinese master in the Uk called Samuel Kwok who was a student of both of Ip Mans sons. He is doing very classic Wing Chun. Also, exactly the same is Master Denis Lee. As far as Wong Sheun Leung, he developed the WLS Ving Tsun and his best students are Sifu Philip Bayer and Master Wang Zhi Peng. As for William Cheung's lineage, meaning Cheungs Wing Chun, he is still alive, now 81 years old, but his son, Master Andrew Cheung is teaching and also there are many amazing Sifus in the US, like Philippe Redmond, Eric Olam and Keith Mazza. Now, each lineage has great differences, but the most common Wing Chun of all would be Ip Man's lineage from Chang Wah Shu and not from Leung Bik. So William Cheung was taught the Leung Bik Wing Chun from Ip Man, along with some Red Boat Wing Chun from the Triads and also added some of his own things too, therefore his lineage is probably a bit more advanced but also probably more complicated and difficult, so wouldn't recommend that without a teacher, cant learn it from videos and books etc. And same stands for the non Ip Man lineages. So easiest for you would probably be to follow Samuel Kwok or Denis Lee, cause WSL is also more advanced and if you wish to learn from web lessons and seminars and not private and class tuitions, you should probably consider the online Sifu called Master Wong, who has learned from both Samuel Kwok and also from Pan Nam, like Eddie Chong did, so he is combining both of those lineages, adding his own things too and is very effective as online tuitions through videos etc. But if you were to go to a school, then depending on the country and city you live at, you'll have to choose one of the above mentioned masters or a good student of them who has become an official Sifu, they are all great. Good luck.
Whoa, want your mind blown? If you look at this video where he is older he begins his Siu Lim Tao with right hand overtop left and starts right whereas traditionally it is left over right and start left (which he does in the video below where he is younger).
Wing Chun, Western Boxing, Muay Thai are addictive
It's been 2 years since I practiced Wing Chun... I am starting it again!
thats weird how you can stop wing chun
@@87890- it’s not weird maybe an injury or circumstance of life prevented usual practice habits.
Good luck man. I just started wing chun 3 weeks ago and am trying to learn the katas so I can get my belt by July!
