4 cups all purpose flour. 1 Tbsp of baking soda. 1/2 tsp salt. 1 1/2 cups of hot water. Learned this from an Apache on UA-cam. The wife will save 1/2 of this for later frying. It's delicious.
My mom use to just do self rising flour and water. Fried up. Ive done it a few times myself when thats what i had. Im thankful for my mawmaw and mom for teaching me how to make do with what you have And to always keep extra on hand when possible 😊
For most single loaf bread recipes (even whole grains) you don't need more than a heaping teaspoon of yeast, just let it rise longer. Conserve what you have 😊
WOW Rudy that looks delicious I miss your cooking and canning videos. Please keep these coming for us. And that bread recipe is awesome thank you God Bless 🙏❤️🙏
Thanks for the demo! The only comment I want to make is about the salt. I know you added it saying "because this isn't the apocolypse" like it is a luxury but I would add it's as essential as the flour - especially a GOOD salt like Himilayan pink, Celtic Sea Salt or Redmond Salt from the ancient sea salt mines in Utah. We can survive without flour - we can't survive without a good naturally mineralized salt. Salt is so valuable and the ancients knew it. Ever heard the phrase "worth his salt"? It meant worth the wage he was paid because Roman soldiers were often paid in salt.
Also good to have plenty of iodized salt on hand as pink Himalayan salt does not contain iodine. Or have Mary Ruth’s iodine drops on hand. I have all of it. Also have topical iodine. Lots are deficient in it and can benefit from extra drops.
Self rising flour & water is all you need. It's better is you use milk instead. Use corn meal, it's cornbread, corn dodgers. Add salt if desired. You can add a little sugar, add any kind of seasoning, herbs, etc. Make it thin- it's pancakes. Thick it's hoecakes. Put melted butter in the batter, fry in butter, then all over when it's done and it's divine! Eat with syrup, jelly, cinnamon & sugar, with beans...it goes with everything.
Half a cup of applesauce and a teaspoon of cimmamin go a long way in getting more apple flavor. My granny use to use apple cider vinegar when she baked depression apple pie.
Assuming most preppers are going to have a limited supply of flour I suggest you expand this video to include how to grow and make your own flour. That would be ultimate prepping otherwise we’re still stuck with our limited supply of flour.
@Argee55732. Agree 💯. Also need to post a foraging for ingredients that can be made into breads. Or a gardening segment on growing ancient grains - for gluten and non- gluten flour.
WOW! I’ve never seen anybody chop an onion in their hands like that. Lol. I love all your videos. Nice to see a survival recipe. I’m definitely going to try that. You’re the best keep them coming.
Thanks, Rudy…sure does look good!!!! I’ll definitely be making this, but I pray I will never have to use the recipe for the reason you’re demonstrating it 🙏🙏🙏 God bless America and all you fine folks on this channel
Good evening from southeastern Ontario Canada 🇨🇦 😊 - hope you and yours are okay after Hurricane Helen. I'm so sorry for the terrible weather systems that's hit everyone 😞
@@JayceeWedmak we are all fine here the biggest part of the flooding hit about 50 miles to the East of where I'm at but we did get a lot of flooding here but nothing like what others got. Thank you so much for taking the time to check on everyone. Hope everything is well your way and everyone is doing great.
@ericking9135 Thanks for the reply! I do keep an eye on a channel 'Ryan Hall Ya'll' as your northern States and our southern Provinces share weather during the different seasons. Canada just had our Thanksgiving weekend and I know the forest fires here in our country and both hurricanes and fires in your country reminded us how life could be very different very quickly. All the best to you and yours! 😊

An easier way. Is to stir all ingredients into a lg bowl. Cover, let sit on your counter for 7-9 hours. Then pre-heat oven 450°F while oven is preheating, put dough into a greased pie plate. Bake for 30 mins. (You can poke holes in dough before baking & pour oil over it.)

@jtharp9265. In my tablet, I can copy & paste info in my contacts. If the Internet goes down I can still access this as it's saved to the tablet. I have solar panels to recharge my tablet. I print copies for an additional backup plan.

Microwave is shielded so microwaves can't get out - this principal works in reverse to keep things safe.

Thanks Rudy. I'm thinking my tortilla press would work to flatten the dough. Of course I'll still have to use parchment paper to keep it from sticking. Much Love ❤

Is it Baking soda or baking powder 🤔
I use 2 c flour, 1 t salt, 1 t yeast, 2 t brown sugar and a little less than 1 C Warm Water.
@@michelelovesfreedom Thank you so much for this 💓 💞
Is your recipe what is referred to as "bannock"?
@@MyBearhugger Apache Fry Bread.
Your parchment paper technique is genius!
Yes. I usually remove it, but not anymore.
Kawn Bred, Y'all. Hot water corn dodgers. Corn meal + water, fry in any grease or oil. Done.
Most definitely
Corn bread is from corn meal not flour.
Tried it once. Did not turn out well. Sounds so simple.
@@thevictorianedge5465 corn meal is called corn flour in some parts of the world.
@@PulpParadise
We call it cornflour in Australia 🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺
What's cool about this is you can add sesame seeds, herbs, powdered garlic, anything. Basically these are tortillas.

Frybread and flour tortillas. Also, you can't forget the spanish red rice and beans. Yum!
I love chili beans..can is faster n tastier n corn tortillas
Yummy

Better yet, keep some of the dough aside then you soon have sourdough and don't need yeast at all.
Brilliant! I never liked kneeding bread, but this I can do.
I like that parchment technique... first time I've seen it.
All over the world humans make variations of this life sustaining bread. Freshly made every day, it puts a smile on the family’s faces.

Completely agree. It's essential to stockpile salt. It's also used to dry meat and such.

Good to see you again Mr. ALASKA prepper❤
The flatbread looks delicious. Reminds me of making flour tortillas. Yum yum yum with butter❤
Outdoor Boys is a great channel.
He pushes himself to the limits in crazy weather!!
Butter, made into ghee, has a longer shelf life; unless you live in a very cold climate and it doesn't matter.
Fry bread is always good! Nice tip on the parchment sheets tho', lot less mess! Thanks for that!
Thank you
In one word: Amazing!
Smart idea about the parchment paper, iv never done it that way and its always been a pain in the rear.
Butter and yeast both have an expendable shelf life. Use sugar and tallow instead. Both have an indefinite shelf life if stored right.
So many people don't know how to make bread
Fry bread is delicious. Goes with everything ❤
