She has a fantastic interview on the Q podcast, with Tom Powers. It takes an amazing woman to write a song this vulnerable. And she's written tons of them. There's also another interview, on the same show, (different episode), where hers and Prince's recording engineer talks about how she takes forever to record songs with stars today, but Dolly can still come in at her age and nail every song on the very first try, perfect pitch. They do two just to be sure, but she could do an album in a day when others, equally famous, were taking months to get one fully clean track. The two interviews together clearly illustrate an amazing artist and human being. If the rest of us were half as good at our lives as she's been at hers, the world would be a lot better place. Thanks for covering her.
Another INCREDIBLE performer. I had the great good fortune to see her live, and everything she did was IMPECCABLE. Plus, she played twelve (12!) different instruments!
Love Dolly too. She's just so authentic and her singing is effortless, she never sings with tension, just like her speaking. But I think she's careful to sing her songs in her comfort range and key, plus she wrote most of them, so they are tailor made for her! Tons of confidence in this woman, at least her stage confidence, amazing woman, singer, songwriter and business woman! Plus she seems very kind and generous.
Yes! I love Dolly Parton too, she's a podium beast in a good way, and tremendously talented to engage with the audience. There's a light around her, a tinkling matching her lovely voice..
She is such a lady, and so funny and so REAL and down to earth and utterly no-nonsense without being aggressive, just kindly assertive! Not to mention about how talented she is. Her vibrato is immediately recognizable, but it is her skill that is absolutely remarkable. Love her little yodels and the small ways she pauses and punctuates.. Fab! Thank you for this fun reaction! LOVE Dolly!
Friend of mine went to Dollywood some years back and he and his buddy were walking around, talking about what they liked about the park and what they thought could be better. Suddenly this voice pipes up behind them, "Well, let's just sit down and talk a bit about that why don't we?" They turned around and it was Dolly Parton. She sat with them for ten minutes or so talking about the park and what they thought about it.
Thanks for your reaction of Miss Dolly. She is one a kind. Have you ever heard her and Linda Ronstadt with Emmy Lue Harris together they recorded an album together. Also there is a video of Dolly on vacation in Ireland visiting a local pub when the locals ask her to sing which she graciously does. She totally captivates the audience.
I thought that I was one of the only 11,000 people on the planet that realized that Dolly doesn't have to twitch a single face muscle in order to hit a note! She's one badass singer and sweet, amazing human being!
Someone reacted to her and slowed her vocal down to half time, and she is so precise, even with her fast descending passages. There are so many little ornaments she puts in, and they are spot on. So impressive.
Dolly is a treasure. And you are wonderful, your smile and your eyes show your enthusiasm and your energy, always positive!! It is very obvious you love what you are doing, and we love you for it. You, my dear lady, are habit forming 🥰
So glad you picked this Dolly song, it's my favorite. I've always thought she didn't get enough credit for the uniqueness and clearness of her voice and range.
I've never seen this song live! So incredible! She is one of my favorite female country voices, ever! Bonnie Raitt and Shania Twain are still in the top 3.
Interesting how she came up with the melody. She met a child after a concert whose name was Jolene. She told her she loved it and would write a song with it. On the way back to the bus she kept repeating "Jolene, Jolene, Jolene, Jolene" in her head so as not to forget it. By the time she reached the bus, the melody was set.
I saw someone else sing this song. She had a nice clear voice yet the song had no emotional feeling. The spoken and whisper that Dolly adds just makes the song full of emotion.
Dolly is a favorite of mine and can't get enough of her. I would love to see your reaction to the vocal skills of Freddie Mercury. His range is astounding!
Another big hit of hers you should look into soon is "I Will Always Love You," which was her parting gift to Porter Wagoner when, just before she wrote the song, she tried to break away from him and he wouldn't let her. Among the many covers of the song that existed after the release of Parton's original, Whitney Houston's R&B version, from the Bodyguard film soundtrack, was a number 1 pop hit in 1992-93, for a mind-boggling 14 weeks. Long before this, Parton suggested that Patti LaBelle cover the song, but she kept turning it down and then, after having heard Houston's version, regretted her earlier decision.
It should be noted that this is a PERFORMANCE and some of the vocal 'tricks' she uses in this video are implemented because she KNOWS it's a performance. Her studio recording focuses on the song itself and how it was written. So she is both singing and performing for her audience. Stellar.
Bethany, a great "quadruple reaction" would be to "I Will Always Love You" sung by Dolly, Whitney, Sohyang, and Angelina Jordan. IMO it's one of the best songs ever written, and Dolly doesn't get the credit she deserves, both for her song writing and her performances!
Thanks for covering Dolly. Dolly is one of the best vocalists out there apart from her song writing abilities. Her bubbly vibrato on some words is incredible….or is that an incredibly quick yodel? She is incredible. If you have not visited Dollywood and taken in some of the Bluegrass bands there then I can recommend it.
I suffered through my parents love of country (at least it was real). I appreciate musicians that prod me with their talent, genre be damned. On my dad’s side: Waylon Jennings, Merle Haggard. On mom’s side, Johnny Mathis, bee gees. Barry Gibb’s falsetto caused him some serious back pain. I have no time for over produced fusion country, although I appreciate some musicianship, it’s bluegrass or nothing for me. My dad has played steel, slide and acoustic guitars. I appreciate the super clean picking that is so required in a good country song
I love Dolly and this song. Pretty much I love all of her songs! I would love to see a reaction video to Loretta Lynn's "Fist City". :) I would also love to see a reaction video to Sandi Patty's "We Shall Behold Him". By the way, I love your hair! Maybe I'm too old for such a cute hairdo, but I love it. I found your channel tonight and am very glad that I did. I have always loved singing, but have had a heavy dose of discouragement throughout my life. The happiest time of my childhood was being in the teen choir, where I met only encouragement. It wasn't enough, ultimately, to overcome the negative voices of others, though. The naysayers left me wondering why Heavenly Father would give someone such a strong desire to sing, but no real talent or ability to do it. Your channel and your happy, positive attitude have renewed my childhood desire to sing. Now, to just kick those old, discouraging tapes to the curb and "do it anyway". Thank you!
Please play "Me and Little Andy" by and with Dolly Parton if you would. I really, really would appreciate it so very much. Thank you Dear Lady. Have a Blessed Evening. Adios.
Check this out: During an interview on The Bobby Bones Show in 2018, Dolly Parton revealed that she wrote "Jolene" on the same day that she wrote "I Will Always Love You"
Please please *please* react to LP singing live Tokyo Sunrise. I think you'll be floored with her range and her skills. Much love to you; I love all of your videos.
I just found your channel and watched every video of yours! I think, there is one realy incredible singer missing in your playlist, so would you please react to Björk someday? :D It would be sooo interesting! I realy enyojed your reactions, and you seem so authentic and pleasant! Greetings frome Germany! ;)
ua-cam.com/video/x4hxLeHbqZo/v-deo.html The founder of this Japanese band miku kobato is very much in Dolly's mould, a seemingly super girly artist who seems way too lightweight for what she does. She is the backup vocalist and rhythm guitarist. The rest of the instrumentalists are Tokyo music school and university graduates and saiki the lead vocalist has the voice I want you to hear. Miku recruited her when she decided her own voice wasn't strong enough for a rock band. Miku used to work in a "maid cafe" but is also all Japan speed poker champion. The band says she goes into negotiations with the industry (looking like a doll) and "comes out with everything she wants plus all their wallets and carkeys" the band made a triumphant tour of the USA last month - "one of the best gigs I've ever seen" Tony Visconti who is a huge fan of miku and her band. BAND-MAID. Miku writes the powerful lyrics. They are definitely the "next big thing" after 9 yrs work. They have a huge devoted fanbase and your views and reactions will explode.
I love your reacts. You should definitely listen to these singers. Would definitely be worth a reaction: The Dead South - Broken Cowboy - 1/9/2020 - Paste Studio NYC - New York, NY or Brothers in Arms | The Bands of HM Royal Marines or of course Kid Rock! Please, please, please
This is why she could NEVER do shows like the Masked Singer or be a surprise contestant on The Voice. Everyone would recognize her voice in milli seconds.
I was always impressed with Wynette's singing, but something just struck me as off about a woman who could sing "Stand By Your Man" after as many marriages and divorces as she went thru. 😛 It's kind of like the Who keeping "My Generation" ("Hope I die before I get old") in their setlist at this late a date.
Would you please to check Hongary woman sang Jawa, Indonesian ( a local language) in wedding party, "SINDEN BULE NYIDAM SARI (HD) Agnes Serfoso AGGY STSI Solo"
Hi and that was a great reaction to the fabulous Dolly Parton! Could you please do a reaction to LeAnn Rimes doing a live performance of Patsy Cline’s “I Fall To Pieces?” LeAnn is only 17 in this video and I think you will be quite impressed with her vocals. She als can yodel quite well so you’ll hear a tiny bit here and there. Enjoy and thank you! ua-cam.com/video/YmHWE5TwQLU/v-deo.html
Forgive me first of all for making it sound as of her musical genius is not of quality. Ms. Parton has a backstory of a life that equals her gifted career!! "Oh My God... Jolene, just because you can?"😢
I liked how her story was so externally fierce, while the song is so internally vulnerable. It really creates a full true narrative,

Dolly's signature is her vibrato. Unmatched.
I also think her first performance of I Will Always Love You in 1974 on the Porter Waggoner show is amazing
Always loved Dolly since I was a kid. I had and still have a crush on her. Voice of butter.
If aliens land and ask me to nominate someone to speak for us my vote is for Dolly.
I absolutely love watching your reactions to great singers like Dolly, Karen Carpenter, Linda Ronstadt, because you emote exactly my sentiments!
Dolly makes happy, Dolly is joy. I love Dolly so so much.
Dolly is an absolute world treasure, I adore this beautiful angel 🎉
Great reaction Bethany! She is a treasure and I'm glad she made the R&R Hall of Fame this year.

THE MAGNIFICENT DOLLY PARTON! thanks for your great reaction!
hard to believe she wrote this on the same night she wrote I Will Always Love You
I thought that I was one of the only 11,000 people on the planet that realized that Dolly doesn't have to twitch a single face muscle in order to hit a note! She's one badass singer and sweet, amazing human being!

Whether artists sing in the studio or on stage, it is a PERFORMANCE.
I agree, we don't deserve her -- which is why we have to protect this woman. She has to live forever.
Great singer and amazing songwriter
Neko Case once described Dolly's voice as a laser. I love that image.
i Just wanted to mention that I watched several of your videos tonight, and enjoyed them immensely. Thank you.
Fun fact she wrote Jolene and I Will Always love You on the same day
Bethany, a great "quadruple reaction" would be to "I Will Always Love You" sung by Dolly, Whitney, Sohyang, and Angelina Jordan. IMO it's one of the best songs ever written, and Dolly doesn't get the credit she deserves, both for her song writing and her performances!
I think she’s one of the only successful export country singers who’s been successful over the world so that says a lot!
Jolene = best country song ever.
One of the best songwriters of all time. She wrote I Will Always Love You and Jolene in the same day.
Check out her performance with Melissa Etherage where Dolly sings Melithas songs and Melisa sings Dolly' songs
Was called Cross roads
Enjoyed so much. ❤
Would love to see your reaction to Lena Zavaroni singing in her teen years. ~She was a child star in the UK in the 1970's.

We do not deserve Dolly. That’s the truth. She’s an angel.
Agree 100%
Please play "Me and Little Andy" by and with Dolly Parton if you would. I really, really would appreciate it so very much. Thank you Dear Lady. Have a Blessed Evening. Adios.

Yay!!!
Such a nice song i was 16 lol😂
Anyone see Dolly/Miley singing this together? Amazing duo.
Coat of Many Colors is her apex.
In parts her vibrato reminds me of Stevie Nicks.
I just wanna take this time to say that you are extremely absolutely gorgeous Bethany😩

Dolly is a national treasure. Imagine thinking you could take HER man. LOL
Anyone: I hate country music
Dolly Parton: Jolene... Jolene... Jolene...
Anyone: JOLEEEEEEEEEEEEENE!
İ wonder what kind of Jolene could take a man from Dolly :) Thanks Bethany
This is the only country song I love ❤️
B, could you do Anita O’Day? Thanks!

Hello Please React to Arthur Nery and Janine Teñoso song called Pelikula at wish bus you will love it. the voice so good. please thanks!
Look at Dolly, what in the heck does Jolene look like. Dolly is hot and built. But when Dolly sings about Jolene, sounds like she's hot for Jolene
Boobs aside, her vocal chops can't be argued.

IMO…… no one should cover a dolly song…
Hmmm, this performance/arrangement is a little too upbeat for me. And, the only sadness/pain I felt was from her eyes, not from the lyrics/vocals.
